NetherRealm Studios Release New Vita Gameplay Trailer

New Vita Trailer Shows Off More Action and Bonus Costumes!

Netherrealm Studios have unleashed another comprehensive gameplay trailer for their upcoming title Mortal Kombat, an exclusive release for the Sony PlayStation Vita handheld console. First announced in January [full story], this is the latest trailer in the campaign [read more] and another detailed preview of the Spring release.

This trailer demonstrates preserved gameplay from 2011's Mortal Kombat as well as the games compatibility with the Vita touchscreen. Players will be able to interact with the game in a number of ways, including several mini games such as Test Your Balance and touchscreen fatalities. Challenge Tower includes 150 new interactive missions for players to compete with, including the first opportunity to play as Shao Kahn -- a popular request within the fanbase.

As previously announced, this version of Mortal Kombat will be a mirror to the Komplete Edition [released February], featuring all downloadable contents as well as the exclusive new addition of bonus costumes for characters like Rain and Kenshi.

A confirmed release date is still not available, with unverified sources suggesting an April release. Mortal Kombat Online will keep you abrest of updates. For streaming details follow @MK_Online, or like us on Facebook.

Kenshi's alternate reminds me of Mavado. I do wish the Red Dragon was featured more prominently in the series... Seems they were swept under the rug as quickly as they were introduced into the series.

Kenshi's costume is cool, even if it is a bit too Mavado and doesn't really make much sense. Maybe Kenshi's just got a fabulous fashion sense. Anything's better than his MKD Kanji-tits costume. The UMK3 ninjas are very boring.

Nothing's been announced. Shao Kahn is only playable in the new Vita-exclusive Challenge Tower anyway, the video is a bit deceptive. There's nothing stopping them from releasing the costumes in a pack though. I imagine it would be a quick and easy profit.

True dat. My only major complaint about his alt is his boring-ass hair.
It should be more long and unkempt, just for a little variety.

(His MK: Deception costume was absolutely atrocious. The pointy red boots were just ridiculous.)

Anyhow, these new mini-games (test your slice, fruit ninja, wipe away the blood, test your balance) all look fun.
The one where you have to keep the characters in the air will probably give me some stress, though.

It means the Vita game is essentially the Komplete Edition -- and it also has bonus costumes. It's Komplete Edition that does not have them.

It's true that Kenshi looks a lot like Mavado. But it's a cool costume. I'm not too fond of that feature when you have to cleanse the blood from the screen though. I assume this will be very cool for the first 5 minutes in terms of look and become annoying as time passes.

That is Kira, and, like seanay said, she was in early builds of the game, but was replaced by Skarlet.
(So were Li Mei and Tanya, and there was another woman lying on Kahn's throne platform.)

I love the UMK3 ninja costumes, especially Ermac. Not gonna get this, but i hope the costumes are released sooner rather than later for consoles. Would absolutely have to pick up Ermac, and maybe Rain. Although for Rain I liked him better in the UMK3 Arcade version when he had like really pale skin and a dark purple costume. To me the light purple, almost pinkish uniform looks dumb.

And if Kenshi has an alt. i assume all the dlc characters do as well, except maybe Freddy.

*sigh* Rain getting a umk3 outfit was to be expected I suppose, but if I get the game (and Vita) ill probably just stick with his new one which I like very much...

Maybe he gets another, actuall 2nd outfit? I sure hope so, also wonder if Skarlets is the one found on the original disc...

I hope there is a bug which removes freddy on start up

( I joked about the last, but seriously do not care for him)
