First-Look: Pop Culture Shock Collectibles Kitana Statue

Princess Kitana delivers deadly fan service in upcoming Pop Culture Shock statue!

With a major Facebook milestone reached, Pop Culture Shock Collectibles have released the first physical preview of their upcoming Kitana statue!

Kitana stands boldly atop the ruined hand of Queen Sindel -- scenery seemingly referencing a fallen Edenian monument found in the Desert stage of the latest game. Kitana too appears in her most recent design, pictured unmasked, but not necessarily restricted to one look in the final product.

The Edenian Princess possesses her trademark fighting fans, completing the threat of a striking fighting pose. Kitana joins a growing Pop Culture Shock Mortal Kombat catalogue, following on the heels of their 1:4 scale Scorpion, and recent life-size Sub-Zero bust. A UMK3 retro Scorpion was previewed at San Diego Comic-Con, in July.

Pop Culture Shock Collectibles have been a trusted name in limited edition, high-end gaming and media collectibles for years. Their catalogue currently includes: Mortal Kombat, Street Fighter, Darkstalkers and more. Why didn't you guys report on the 1/4 scale Shao Kahn, he's coming out before Kitana. This site has really been slipping with the news lately, if they report it at all.

1:4 scale UMK3 Scorpion is also coming out way before Kitana which was also skipped on here. Someone is asleep at the wheel.

WOW!

Really impressive statue. The Syco one is more detailed, but this one has a better base and the pose is more dynamic, more action oriented. Her face and hair also look better. I love it!

I own the Syco statue, and I find this one to be far more detailed.

Yeah, I remember you posting pics of the female assassin trio.

I've only seen pics and the Syco one has more detailed fans, this one lacks the buttons on the blades and the designs on the paper part. Plus, the mask, the top and the cloth look closer to the in-game ones on the Syco statue (the cloth especially).

Both are beautiful though. Love the pose, hair and the look (eyes) in this one.

This one is still far more detailed.

Her muscles are far more defined. Although her fans are missing the designs, they are still more developed. The fans on my statue are mostly flat. With the PCS statue, you can see the ruffles that are synonymous with traditional Japanese fans.

Most impressive to me are her wrist cuffs and knee-high boots. With the Syco statue, the patterns on her cuffs and boots are painted on with a sharp contrast, so that you can notice them more easily. With this statue, the designs are accented not by a sharp color contrast, but by the actual sculpt. You can see the attention to detail, where they actually sculpted the designs delicately onto the cloth, rather than relying mostly on the paint. it's far more subtle and looks a lot prettier, especially with the glossy finish.

Then of course you have the dynamic pose, the hair, her face and the base.

I do agree though, that the loin cloth isn't accurate to the source material.

I do love my Syco statues, but goddamn if this one doesn't put them to shame. I want to get this really badly... I hope it doesn't get released for a long while though. Need time to set some money aside, lol.

Really dangerous territory for me, haha. If they end up making Mileena and Jade... I'll be dying to have them too... and I currently don't have any really good spots to put them.

Do I really need two sets of statues of the same characters?

Trying hard to say, "no." but it looks soo good!

It's like a domino of expenses. Buy the statue... gotta buy a nice stand to put it on... now that I have a stand... gotta buy the rest of the statues in the line.
