How come you can only select up to 4 characters when your playing locally?

You need to play against someone who also owns the game to get a full select screen.

If you do it locally, you'll only be able to select Kitana, Reptile, Jade, or Scorpion.

Yeah, I looked in the handbook that came with the game that "selection is limited." That really sucks.
