The Expendables

Sylvester Stallone
Jet Li
Jason Statham
Mickey Rourke
Dolph Lundgren
Bruce Willis
Arnold Schwarzenegger
The movie also includes Steve Austin, Terry Crew, and Randy Couture.
I guess I'm just kind of shocked that an action movie that has cast like this hasn't had a lot more press for it.
What's everyone else thoughts on it.

It was supposed to have Jean Claude Van Damme in Drago's role, but Van Damme said no so that he could get to do Universal Soldier 3.
I mean, what the fuck?

You just heard about it? Where the hell have you been? It's going to be the movie of the decade. It would have been the movie of the century had Van Damme not been a wanker, had Seagal not been a crybaby, and had Wesley Snipes not been a convicted criminal.
But it's still going to be the movie of the decade. You know how little girls scream when they see Edward and Jacob in Twilight? I'm going to be doing the same thing when I see Arnold, Stallone, and Bruce Willis in the same room.

Yeah i was just reading that. I honestly think it had more to do with the cast, and his ego, rather than filming Universal Soldier 3. He said there was no substance to the character they offered him. I just think it was the fact he wouldn't be the 1 big star of the movie. Segal was also offered a role, as well as Kurt Russell, and Wesley Snipes. Kurt Russell turned the movie down for pretty much the same reason, while Segal had issues with the director, and Snipes was dealing with his tax problems.
I think it would have been really cool to at lease had Snipes in the movie. I could just imagine a fight scene between him and Jet Li.
The 1 thing that disappoints me about this movie a little was I just found out Stallone has canned Rambo 5 in order to work on a sequel to this.
About Me
I need a new sig, something with Kabal from UMK3 would be sweet. Just imagine that here

This movie woudl have been so kick ass had everyone they wanted to be in in it accepted. I bet it'll still be good though. And if its really successful and they make a sequel, the people who turned it down the first time may reconsider.

Funny considering they gave top billing to the UFC fighter that he co-starred with(on the dvd anyway). Van Dam keeps telling anyone who will listen that he's not done, and keeps making stupid mistakes like this one based off of pure ego. Whatever.
Anyway, this movie looks like a love letter to action fans. The trailer only makes me more hyped for this one. Can't wait.

Haven't seen the Dolp-man since "I Come in Peace" but I digress. No Chuck Norris equals no fucking way.

It looks absolutely amazing, seriously! I just wish they would give Bruce Willis a more relevant role...
Other than that, it casts my 2 greatest role models: Jet Li & Randy Couture, & i think I heard a rumor that Antonio Rodrigo nogueira was gonna be in this movie...? I would love to see a movie match-up between him an Couture...
Honestly this movie might just have TOO MUCH awesomeness

True about Bruce Willis, but I'll take him over Kurt Russell. No idea why Stallone would him before Bruce Willis. I know because of Escape from lA, and big trouble in little china, but other than that there really isn't any other action movies he's been in that i can think of. Not to mention he really can't match up size wise compare to most of the other cast.
As far as a sequel goes, I know this movie hasn't come out yet, but I'm just kind of worried about Stallone choosing to do a sequel to this rather than Rambo. You can imagine a decent amount of characters will probably be killed off in this movie. And if they do do a sequel and get who they originally wanted to like Van Dam, and Snipes (chuck norris if that's even possible) there really isn't a huge list of guys that can match most of this cast in terms of size or action movies except maybe B list actors for a sequel. Actors coming to mind:
Dwayne Johnston
Vin Diesel
Mr. T.
Maybe Chuck Lidell or Brock lesner if they want to get into acting.

Fail money wise or critically? Critically you know these reviewers are too "high class" and artsy to give a big budget action flick high marks. At best it'll get like a 65% on Rotten Tomatoes.
But it will rake in that money, mark my words.

Stallone created it, and when it comes to him and movies he's very talented. If it's as good as the Rocky series, then of course it'll be a very good movie.
Just got back from seeing the movie. Now compared to an action movie I've seen like Predators. Expendables was waaaay better to give you an idea. Everybody got some shine time moments. If you like action, I'm suprised you haven't seen this twice by now. The story wasn't over the top like something like Inception, just a perfect scenario for a bunch of mercenaries. What more could you ask for. I just wish Arnold & Bruce did more. Lazy bastards.lol

You know Arnold got 1.2 million dollars for being in the movie for like two minutes. And i really want a AA12 if there was a zombie apocalypse. The movie kicks ass if you want to go watch it. Jet li is actually pretty funny but if him and wesley snipes fought that would be awesome or if Li fought Van damme that would be awesome

This movie was awesome. My friend said it was Twilight for guys, but that doesn't do this film any justice.
Somewhere over the years, people decided that actions films needed some comedy, so slowly, action films became sillier, and with random characters who didn't like each other squabbling about stupidities. Then they decided that the hero must always have a love interest, and so there would always be some random, hot, female star to do some action and look pretty, or be the girl who has to be saved, but still look pretty as a victim.
Expendables goes back to the root of action films; it is a serious action film that you will enjoy if you want to see a film with explosions, fist-fights, more explosions, tough characters, knife-fights, bullets, bigger explosions, decent story, blood, and finally, massive explosions. I advise everyone to watch this film twice.

I just saw it today and I loved it. I thought it was great. Randy Couture's acting stood out to me as being really really bad, but luckily he didn't have many lines. Also, I never noticed his ears before the movie comments on them. Since then, I haven't been able to look away. It totally weirds me out.
Oh, and man, Terry Crews is still totally cool.

Jet Li and Terry Crews were shafted, didn't get nearly enough shine. Plus the movie got really slow around the middle.
Other than those things, it was a good flick.
