Mate what kind of Aussie football? We have three types not just one like citizens from the USA.
And why do you want to play in the USA when you can play right here in OZ?

I'm pretty sure he means AFL. There's no other "Australian" football. I've always been interested in this as well but the reality is probably: "Australian football? Oh, you mean that rugby football right?"
ANd yeah, why exactly do you want to play it over there? I've always thought AFL was a little odd, i can't imagine what Americans would think... I've always likened it to baskeball and football in one.

About Me
The future seemed so bright.
But this thing turned out so evil,
I don’t know why I’m still surprised.
Even angels have their wicked schemes,
And you take that to new extremes.
But you’ll always be my hero,
Even though you lost your mind...

I'm not American, but I'm butting in anywayz...
Definitely not a fan of AFL at all unfortunately. Never really watched it to be honest, but my whole family are NRL fans and I even had to play it as a kid, so thats just what footy has always been for me. AFL is mainly big down in Victoria though, right?
That said, I'm very much a tennis person.

I'm huge AFL fan. I go for the Mighty Sainters. I was shattered when we lost last year.
I also play myself. I dislocated my finger a few weeks back. Fuckin hurt like a bitch.

Seriously? Seriously?!?
The way I see it, you've got a three tier heirarchy of the right to "footy."
FOOTBALL, "the world game", is played primarily with the foot. Not complicated, it has first claim. AUSTRALIAN RULES has a lot of handling, but at the end of the day, kicking is a primary skill and a common way to move the ball. RUGBY is almost all throwing and tackling and obviously has the least claim to be "footy". So unless your neck is as thick as your head, there's no good reason to expect anyone to call it footy, let alone the uninitiated.
I've heard AFL described as "calvin ball" -- a game where the rules are made up as it goes along, and everyone chases the ball. Heh.

Maybe my math is a little rusty, but I'm pretty sure all the AFL states outnumber New South Wales and Queensland. New Zealand? Not actually a state.

well...I live in America and right now it's Pre-Season for our version of Football and two big players have reality shows about getting dates that they probably aren't even gonna date, so not much news I believe is noted about Australian football...altho Keith Urban and Nicole Kidman were just recently here at our state fair and that made big news. it's sad...I remember back in school that Australia, and Canada were virtually not mentioned at all which is a travesty considering we had to memorize all the gods and goddesses of the ancient greeks. not that it wasn't interesting, just never understood why 5th graders needed to be tested on what a maeynad was. I hope to go to both places some day. altho the flight to Australia has to be quite long. actually wait...I do remember them discussing the coral reef in Australia back in school but that is about it.
