Yea it's a martial arts fantasy fighting game. The fighters sexual orientation has nothing to do with anything. Not the plot, not the game mechanics, not the lore, nothing. Sex has nothing to do with Mortal Kombat, so why make a character gay ?

I suppose when it says "Finish Him" they could put something in there, but the game would most likely be classified AO.

Seriously though, sexual orientation has nothing to do with this game.

theres no sex at all in mortal kombat anywhere, no one is straight, gay or bi

except sonya and johnny, and liu and kitana, theres no relationships really at all. its a fighting game, who cares what their sexual preferences are as long as they all try killing eachother.

Isn't shoehorning sexual preference into a game like this more patronizing than anything else?

Shouldn't this thread get merged with the already existing multiple threads about wanting a character for its sexual orientation in a game where it won't matter at all?

Also, we don't know if we already have some of them. We don't know the sexual orientation of 80% of the characters (on top of my mind we only know that Johnny, Sonya, Jax, Liu Kang, Kitana, Sindel, Shao Kahn, Kenshi, Scorpion, both Sub-Zeros and Sareena are heterosexual as all had at least some degree from attraction to mariage to the opposite sex, probably some more that I'm missing too, but the others have never shown any sign of interest in either their opposite or same sex because it never mattered for story telling and sometimes just noting someone's sexual orientation just for it, without an objetive, looks weird for the story.

There are multiple characters in the game that I'd say could be gay but I don't care too much about that because it won't affect story telling or their fighting styles (and if it did I think it would be borderline homophobic and pure mockery to alter their fighting styles based on sexual orientation or to clearly note that they are gay when nobody around is asking them about that).

As a straight male, I feel really misrepresented in the MK community. 9/10 people belong to the straight community and I feel that a straight character needs to be introduced to reflect its fan base.

I think Erron Black would be a good candidate. Everyone has had such a great reaction to the character so far, I think it would be great to say "hey, he's straight! But he's tough!!"

Been saying it for years, but don't expect a discussion on the subject here. Any discussion about race, gender or sexual orientation in MK on this forum is a lost cause.

Ok, but in that case your going to have to get behind ,Jewish people, Muslims, the mentally handicapped , the physically handicapped, and every other minority or religion out there that feels they are being mistreated and represented.

The attitude that not having gays or what ever in MK is discrimitory is why people generally tend to have a poor attitude when it comes to overly vocal minorities.

Why should a story teller have to shoe horn a minority into their art, just because YOU feel they should ?

Where does it end ? It's a VIDEOGAME about people killing each other, it has nothing to do with sexual orientation.

If it makes you feel better , just imagine the whole roster is gay, because it really does not matter or have any bearing on the game or story.

I think Cassie and Jacqui could be great lesbians, but evidence in the canon disproves my twisted speculation otherwise XD

Save it for the fanfiction. If we tried to represent every single race, gender, sexuality, nationality, religion, height, handedness, weight and boob size in Mortal Kombat, the roster would have 100,000 spots.

sexual preference has nothing to do with fighting skills, 80% of the characters in mortal kombat universe have never shown a sexual preference. and thats how it should be, because its not a big deal if someone is straight or gay, but its not really needed to be said in a fighting game. just make some Jax on baraka(or whoever) fan fictions and be happy.

I don't personally take the OP's request as wanting MK to go out of its way, away from what they normally do, to make a political statement or fill a quota or shoehorn something in to this fighting game that might not otherwise be there.

But if (IF) there are any plot points involving sex, romance, relationships, a simple mention, etc... Anything that makes sense contextually within the story they're trying to tell... then I have no preference between straight or LGBTQ as far as my video game characters. Just tell me a good story. That's it.
