Director Shares Unused Movie Mileena Design Art

Departed Legacy director Kevin Tancharoen has offered a small glimpse into the movie that might have been. He took to Instagram to reveal an unused design for Mileena in the stalled third Mortal Kombat feature.

The pant design echoes superficial elements of Mileena's Mortal Kombat X design update [see more], but remains typically resistant to the aesthetic established over ten video game instalments. Actress Jolene Tran appeared as Mileena in episodes 4 & 5 of Tancharoen's first series of Mortal Kombat: Legacy - two of the most criticized episodes. Michelle Lee assumed the role in Series 2 of the webseries.

Tancharoen left the movie late in 2013 [full story]; announcing his exit in a brief Tweet more than a year after first teasing a script. Michael Jai White (Jax) was attached to star.

The director reportedly expressed interest in return for a third webseries (this time last year), but has since become involved in episodes of CW's DC superhero genre series The Flash, and Marvel's Agents of SHIELD. Legacy II stunt coordinator Garrett Warren has taken over a third series - "Mortal Kombat: Generations" - with Tancharoen's blessing.

Thanks for posting, Mick.

That design looks like something that belongs on The CW, especially the shoulder tattoo. No wonder this movie isn't getting off the drawing board anytime soon.

I'm additionally tired of the cliche "hip jutting out" pose.

It needs more pink and less tattoos; half Tarkatans do not mix well with tattoos. You do not see Baraka getting ink.

... here's your Subzero, now plain zero.

No, but it'd be pretty cool, though. Tattoos have slowly crawled into the MKverse and it's probably only a matter of time before we get a sleeved character.

It's like the artist saw the MKX design, and decided to fucking drown her with black bullshit after they got done watching the early X-Men films.
Take away the sash, the sais and the very few subtle hint of purple off of her, and you would swear it was Kitana based on the other MK films. What a terrible design.

Once again, I'm glad Kevin T took his money and ran. May he never return.

I like it tbh. Maybe not to Mileena, but I like it.

I'm honestly not sure how this movie keeps getting stalled.

Do the people behind it not watch old kung fu films that the franchise is based on and just want to use the franchise to launch their own failed shit?

Tournament stories are the easiest damn things to write, which is why they're so abundant in Japanese manga.

Top needs purple, to match the awesome flap.

I get the hate. It does look to modern, Matrixy, leather-ish...
