Why in God's name would anyone vote for Hsu Hao? I voted for Kenshi for good reason, not just because I love him, but because Hsu Hao sucks.

In another time, Princess Kitana could have been a friend to the Shokan Empire. Instead, the natural born heir to the Edenian throne rules in hell as a revenant of Netherrealm - friend to no one! Kintaro was not born to aristocracy, but earned his place through savagery and force of will. Can the mighty four-armed warrior restore Kitana's honor in defeat, or will the undead princess reign supreme? Choose their destiny! ... FIGHT!

I love Kitana, one of my favorite characters.

I do not hate Kintaro. I feel like he has untapped potential. He is a Shokan but one that is looked down upon. There could be a good rivalry between Goro and him.

I'm still not sure how I feel about Kitana story-wise. She's evil, but she hates Raiden but that might not be canon. I dunno. I don't like the idea of her and Liu being bosses in the next game, but what else do you do with them? Make them some sort of background B-level faction / threat?

I'll put it this way. I'm curious about her direction, so that's a good thing, I guess. I hope she does more in the next game than she did in MKX. I'm just not overly optimistic that I'll enjoy where her story goes from here.

As for her gameplay. Eh, it's Kitana. Some fun new ideas mixed with the same old stuff. Still don't get where Jade is, but at least Kitana had done of her in spirit. Kinda wish they did this with a few more characters.

Anyways, this is all just my way of saying that as iffy as I am on Kitana at the moment, I'll still take her ten times out of ten over the amazing MK2 sub boss that they turned in to some sort of half Goro half tabby cat. Man, what a character assassination.

That's a tough one. Kitana is now the dark empress of the Netherrealm. That's huge. Her overall importance to the MKX story is just following Quan Chi but she ended up being quite important.

Kintaro... well Kintaro hasn't been the same since MK2. I'm not a huge fan of the cat face. I don't mind the feline features but he should look like an angry tiger, not a housecat. Now he has been reduced to being just another Shokan, losing multiple times in MK9 and disappearing in MKX.

Kitana gets my vote.

I would call this round easier than the last. Kitana just has more development, character, role, design, backstory, and overall potential. Back in my youth, I loved playing as Kintaro in MKTrilogy, but that was a long long time ago. The last thing Kintaro has done of any importance was burn Kabal, and even that didn't have any pay off. I have always thought Kintaro would have been much better if he was just from a rival race, instead of a rare a Shokan, or maybe a rare breed of Shokan that didn't have 4-arms. It turned an interesting design into a Goro skin, to me.

Kitana all the way.

A tough one here. I honestly have been a little bummed out by what they have done with Kintaro in recent games (Love him in MK2 and MKT though) so my vote has to go to Kitana, who hasn't disappointed me as much in recent games as Kintaro has.

Kitana.

Strictly speaking in terms of gameplay, Kitana has never disappointed me. Plus, she's pretty much my favorite MK female and is a blast in MKX.

I still love ya though Kintaro. Just not more than Kitana. Although I can't wait to pick up the new comic issue to see how well Kintaro is portrayed by Kittelsen.

Yep, Yep, Yep.

Definitely has been one of my favourites for a long time, loved her in MK9 and MKX (Although she could definitely use more mix-ups I think, although maybe I just haven't found em) and I cannot think of a game where her game play wasn't a blast!

Not that I don't like Kintaro, and I am not the biggest fan of her role in story. As someone else said, I am interested to see where she goes from here, so that is sort of a good thing.

Kintaro is cool too, I just don't find that much to work with there. The last iteration of him (in MK9) I wasn't a big fan of so that kind of sealed the deal too.

Daegon should have a more prominent role in MKXI than just being killed off by Kenshi in the latter's ending. I like Daegon to be more of a suave Lex Luthor archetype in disguise, the reason he's been hiding in Earthrealm for so long in the 21st century is that he's running a faux international aid enterprise under a faux CEO duplicate of him running this faux company. As the Special Forces are trying to hunt for Red Dragon guerillas, Daegon was just standing in plain sight and unleashes a crippling worldwide terrorist attack on Special Forces, the Lin Kuei, and the Black Dragon. However the main objective wasn't to cripple them, but to break into SF HQ, stealing confidential info on a secret project in which a scientific unit contained Blaze instead of Blaze being imprisoned near the Dragon Egg in the original timeline so Daegon can use this intel to locate the firespawn and use him to initiate Armageddon. Also to free former Netherrealm lackeys like D'vorah and make her part of the team as well as capturing Kano (who is under Special Forces custody) for experimentation. I also want Daegon to be the one to kill Jacqui so Takeda can have another reason to hate Daegon and have his spotlight battle with him.

But if I want to give a great potential bonus to someone it's Taven. It's nice to see the deadpan snarking, but naïve and tragic demigod to have a potential run in MKXI. I want to see him team up with Takeda (not Kenshi because I have a feeling he won't last long against Daegon) to stop his brother while at least trying to win Daegon back to sanity. Of course when Taven figures out Daegon willingly killed both their parents and enslaved Caro, he gets really pissed off and hunts him down. I want Takeda and Daegon to have a nearly gory and grueling battle until Daegon upgrades to his godly powers and almost kills Takeda, not before Taven arrives, and being the older brother beats the living shit out of Daegon and kills him. One thing that Armageddon lacked was Taven interacting with OTHER EDENIANS. I want Taven to finally interact with Kitana and Sindel once they're out of the brink. Plus I have an idea for Taven and Jade to actually develop a friendship (given her strange circumstances being alive and some hidden backstory potential for her powers) that gradually develops into a romance given that both have sarcastic personalities, Jade playing off Taven's naïveness and him playing off Jade's thickheadedness not to mention both have tragic backstories so Jade can be the one to help Taven confront his past and move on. I can see both Taven and Jade initially as allies descend into the Netherrealm, bringing back the revenants where Emperor Liu Kang being an annoying villain finally gets his ass kicked by a pissed-off Taven, this badass fire demigod who has unlimited magic usage and is stronger than Liu. Afterwards, Taven does have a major distrust towards Liu given the shit he's done for the Netherrealm, but overtime he can have a friendly rivalry with Liu once the latter tries so hard to redeem himself.

Overall I'm going for Taven.

What a cool post! Thanks man, great ideas!
I like both brothers. They're like Castor and Pollux from the Greek Mythology.
I think they grew up together with Kitana and Jade in the Edenian War. You should check out my theory for them: http://www.mortalkombatonline.com/content/forum/showmessage.cds?id=152387

Kitana, clearly.

It's quite hard to imagine a Mortal Kombat without her, she is a core character.

I like Kintaro, but he was so much better in MK2, scary and challenging.

Kitana, by far.

But that's not to imply that I don't like Kintaro, I mean Goro as a tiger IS pretty fucking cool.

However, he just doesn't have the same potential he had in MK2. The shock value is gone. He's just not the asshole boss that was really fucking hard to beat and you stayed up all night trying to beat him sort of guy anymore.

I think the reason why he's just not the same anymore is because he had the longest gap of any character. He didn't appear in MK3 - MKA. I'd imagine that they've just given up on Kintaro.

What character is?

Kitana? Lol. I mean the fans were always cool and she always had them, but they have added a lot to her since then. Her design and all the variations of it.

I think it is kind of a silly argument too, but I think it is more of people mentioning that it might have been different had this been based on MK2. That they used to like Kintaro (In MK2 days) but don't care for him anymore.

I guess you could say Goro isn't as cool as he used to be either, but I wouldn't concede to that opinion so quickly. He actually has depth to his gameplay now. If Kintaro was a playable character in MKX, it is likely he would have had many more votes coming in for him, whether he was a good character or not.

I find it hard to really like a character that never really has a chance to shine. Someone else already mentioned how many games he isn't in, and the only one he played a role even close to being prominent was in MK2. Other than that he got almost no time to shine or give us good background story about him. Basically, what is there to like? I like the idea of Kintaro, but not more than I like the character Kitana.

My vote for the last round was for Kenshi.

My vote goes to Kitana this round. I do like both Hsu Hao and Kintaro but both Kitana and Kenshi are amazing character designs and both excel in their gameplay and I'm very impressed with them in MKX.
