Creative Director Teases Big MKX News with Moon! Pit DLC to Follow?

Series co-creator Ed Boon is promising "BIG" Mortal Kombat X news coming hot on the heels of the latest Kombat Kast! Boon tweeted a picture to tease the update - a heavenly image familiar to klassic fans. Look to la luna below:

Fans of the original Mortal Kombat will remember a very similar night sky above The Pit stage, where secret character Reptile famously instructed fans to "Look to La Luna" [read more].

The teaser image seems to support Mortal Kombat Online's reports from July, which connected update code to a speculated return for klassic kombat arena: The Pit. Boon first floated the prospect of klassic arenas as DLC back in May.

The teaser could also be interpreted as an image of space - where no one can hear you scream. Ed Boon's twitter account was briefly a hot spot for Alien discussion, reigniting speculation about guest DLC.

A major patch update is already rolling out to PlayStation 4 & Xbox One consoles. It promises sweeping updates to character move properties, a few new moves, and bug fixes. Compatibility patches have been used to usher in other major updates.

The only character the Pit could be hinting at is Reptile, who's already in the game. So it's gotta be the stage itself being brought back.

I'm trying not to get too hopeful but that sounds even more like a hint toward the return of the classic Pit. I swear, I will fall to my knees and cry in happiness if this is true.

Any new/returning Arenas are a welcomed addition to the one low point of MKX (Arena Count 13) but if there isn't a Stage Brutality or Pit Bottom it would be sad.

If it's the Pit I I'm curious to see what they do with the BGM.

Is it going to be like MK9 where it's a redone version, Or just reuse The MK9 or the original MK1 track (Sega Genesis/Arcade) or an entirely new track?

And there's also Stage Interactions to consider, will it have jump off points or throwable objects or be the very first MKX stage to go entirely without?

Either way after MK9s Pit being a strange mashup of MK2 and MK1s Fatality, I'd be very happy to see the Klassic MK1 Pit return.

I'm hoping they'd bring the classic music back. I liked the Pit in MK9 but I wasn't thrilled about the fact that it was a mashup of MK1 and MK2 pits. I would've preferred to have both of them in the game separately

That would be nice. Either way I've been wanting to see the return of the "Star Pit" from Trilogy ever since like Armageddon.

Though I really hope this isn't the only big announcement. I'm guessing for those who get Kombat Pack 2 will receive The Pit classic arena free.

Ed just tweeted another pit sky image (above), but this one looks EXACTLY like the MK9 pit...like it was a screenshot of it. Had the word "Encore" in it.

My prediction for the "Encore Pack" is:

Arenas: MK9 PIt, Deadpool

Characters: Sindel, Baraka, Rain, Smoke

Oh I agree. I'm sure if they did something like that, they would still offer the Pit stage for a price for those who do not buy the next Kombat Pack.

The skins and fatalities are klassic. I definitely think they'd give us free klassic stages.

lol You know, Story Pack..... Encore pack..... He likes getting people talking just to talk. It could, theoretically speaking, just be an encore for the game itself, a final bow, not necessarily just a repeat of MK9 assets.

I compared and while it's indeed the same concept as MK9's Pit the clouds and the moon are of much higher quality and the towers aren't shaped the same, neither in game nor concept art.

Might get the pit with a few different backgrounds.

The free skins we got were palette swaps for the ninjas. Hardly worth paying for. And I think the only other free skin we got was Future Raiden and Kold War Scorpion. Both of which are alright but nothing I'd spend money on.

The fatalities were also super basic. True to the original but not worth charging for.

But a stage, even if it's basic it still takes more work and time to make. Plus if there's a stage finisher that's even more work.
