San Diego Comic Con

The cycle starts all over again. Ed Boon released a brief tweet on the first, tweeting simply, "San Diego". The city's comic con will be this month, going from July 21-24. I'd say it's fair to say this is when the next character will be revealed.

Interestingly enough, this bucks the trend of having an announcement for EVO. Is it because EVO is just too stacked this year, or do they have something else to announce for that event?

In any case, place your bets as to who we'll be getting. Honestly I'd say Wonder Woman is likely the safe bet. Despite an announcement around E3 with little fanfare, I say this will be a proper announcement with a trailer and all.

There are bigger sacrifices one might be asked to make than going a little mad.

Ed Boon has updated his twitter with a more formal announcement. Injustice 2 will have a panel at SDCC on Friday, July 22. The panel will feature the likes of Tom Taylor(writer for the Injustice comic), along with voice actors Laura Bailey, George Newbern, and Phil Lamarr.

Big news here is that there will in fact be TWO character announcements for the event.

Get hype people.

I'm hoping for one obvious character like Wonder Woman and a brand new character, maybe Red Hood or something.

But the character I want the most is Darkseid. If he's revealed I'm pre-ordering straight away.

So Wonder Woman and Blue Beetle it is then. BB is a good, solid pick.

No surprise about Wonder Woman. Blue Beetle, however, is a great choice. Highly requested from the first game. He looks pretty damn slick as well. It's a shame this panel didn't get streamed...

Tyler "First Hit" Lansdown, NRS community specialist and multi time Kombat Kast Champ, took to the PlayStation blog to talk all things Wonder Woman and Blue Beetle...

Wonder Woman and Blue Beetle Join the Fight

In his post, he talks about how each character will play. Wonder Woman no longer has to stance switch between sword and shield or lasso, she has access to it all making her a bit more formidable from the outset. Blue Beetle can turn his hands into blades, clubs, and shields and uses his wings for added mobility.

The game continues to impress, even in it's early stages. Can't wait for new character announcements and further details!

People are still complaining about WW's face, but it's WAY better than the first Injuctice.

Blue Beetle is an excellent choice. I'm glad they went with Jaime Reyes rather than the other 2 incarnations. I got my wish though, an obvious character and a brand new one!

Ha! Yeah, I noticed that. Nobody will ever be happy, but as you said, WAY better than Injustice.

It really was the best way to do it. With the game development going the legacy route, we can probably already guess a good portion of the roster. Hopefully this is the way they do character reveals going forward. One returning, one new.

Oh snap. That clearly Gal Gadot inspired Wonder Woman though. Her build looks great, she doesn't look unnaturally shoulder-y like she did before.

And holy shit Blue Beatle. He looks so good too. I waited until the GOTY edition for the first Injustice but they might get my money for real this time.

RE: San Diego Comic Con

Other tidbits that got out of the Injustice 2 panel...

-Tom Taylor will return to write the Injustice 2 comic book tie in, which will bridge the gap between the two games.

-Supergirl apparently plays a significant role in the story.

-GGPO style netplay will be available day one(not surprising, but good to hear)

-There WILL be a tournament mode. Unconfirmed rumblings indicate cosmetic changes will be retained, but any stats(buffs) provided will be turned off while in tournament mode. Does that mean SonicFox can somehow import his Blue Beetle to face Tom Brady's Supergirl at a tournament? I would assume that these changes would be tied to some type of ID system(WBID), but that's just my thinking out loud.

-Injustice PC port is "likely", hopefully High Voltage's involvement is "not".

-Ed Boon indicates that, while it probably won't be Scorpion, he " wouldn't be surprised to see another Mortal Kombat character as a guest in Injustice 2".

Many cameos will be possible via costume upgrades (Powergirl costume for Supergirl, etc). I find that bit interesting. Could Captain Cold have a Mr Freeze alt., or Batman have an Azrael alt.? Lots of potential here, but I see many a future butthurts about people's favorite character having to "settle" for a cameo.

Yeah, that may come back to bite them in the ass. Max also said on Twitter that Blue Beetle shared some stuff in common (I'm assuming gameplay wise) with D'Vorah. Edit: After watching the trailer, yep, that's pretty spot on.

Atrocitus has Goro's punchwalk, Cassie had some of Deathstoke's gun moves. There's heaps of examples of them using other fighters moves over the various games. It's slightly lazy I guess but I don't necessarily see it as a bad thing, nor do I think it will bite them in the ass. They're using already established assets. It hasn't failed them in the past, I doubt it will fail them now.

Thanks for the info. Good to hear that Supergirl has an important role now. Also fingers crossed for Powergirl even though it's a cameo

That's unsurprising. I wouldn't be shocked if one of their play-ability influenced the other.

Yeah, wasn't really criticizing it, just pointing it out. BB looks fucking great though in all honesty. Still shocked they put him in, but pleased.

Ted Kord didn't have any super powers. So he would fight similar to Batman [Nightwing is more accurate since Ted did use some gymnastics] and use gadgets and martial arts to fight.

My only knock against Jaime so far is pretty much everyone else's that he looks like a balding 40-50 year old instead of a teenager when they show his face.

Why couldn't this ending have happened?
