Injustice 2 already has eight downloadable characters to choose from, but when the big reveal comes later this week, that number may round out to an even dozen!

The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles were one of the most surprising character reveals of the three DLC Fighter Packs, leaving some of the most challenging questions for what seems to be last! Some answers may finally come Wednesday (February 7th), when the developer hosts a special Watchtower "pizza party" livestream. A much anticipated gameplay trailer will follow soon after.

The question of how players will control the quartet of Turtles is the most burning, partly teased in a screenshot posted by the venerable Ed Boon [above]. Raphael and Michaelangelo share the screen, with notably different gear, but are they switching out as part of a tag mechanic -- or fighting simultaneously?

NetherRealm last featured a full fledged Tag Team mode in 2011's Mortal Kombat, but played with a unique team style presentation for the collaborative Mortal Kombat X character(s): Ferra/Torr.

You have to go all the way back to 2004 to find the last time Tagging was a unique part of a character's arsenal: "Noob-Smoke" served as tag teaming sub-boss in Mortal Kombat: Deception. If the Ninja Turtles go down this route, will the player have two characters to summon - or four?

Incorporating the ninja brothers into special moves could be another way to bring them into the fight. That may explain the skateboard flying in Black Manta's general direction. It looks like all four Turtles will be in the spotlight, though. So will players be able to use a special menu, or Gear options, to pick their playable preference? Leonardo, Donatello,Raphael & Michaelangelo join a cast of crossover characters that includes fellow independent comic book icon Hellboy, and Mortal Kombat's own Raiden and Sub-Zero!
