Konquest mode needs to make a return.

I just did a play through of deception and Armageddon’s konquest and a mode or even its own game like that with today’s technology would be awesome. Don’t get me wrong I enjoy the story mode and watching the story. I just think it would be way better to be able to explore multiple realms, collect stuff to unlock more in the krypt. You look at games like uncharted, god of war and horizon zero dawn and make a mortal Kombat world like that would be a lot of fun.

I loved the Konquest modes. Deception's being my favorite. I'd love to see something like this come back.

I feel like I’m pretty much the only MK fan that just did not enjoy Konquest mode. Not even a little bit. If they’re going to do it, it should be given its own game ala Shaolin Monks.

I've been dying for konquest ever since 2008 when mkdc was announced. What a letdown that was. MKD konquest mode made it my favorite and most nostalgic MK game next to the classic MKI and MKII. I still play through MKD and MKA konquest modes at least once a year as well as MKSM. They really do need to bring back konquest mode and if not then they really need another standalone adventure game. Something. I like the fighting in MK which is why it became my fav in the first place but as I have matured I get bored with it after awhile and I just need to go on an adventure and explore and have story.

I'm fundamentally of the belief that Mortal Kombat is a fighting game first and foremost, and the effort put into a Mortal Kombat game should be put 100% into that aspect of it. That's not to say a small adventure mode is not unwelcome. In fact, it would be nice. Deception's was pretty mind-numbing, but the one positive thing I can say about Armageddon is that its conquest mode was actually pretty good.

It was more akin to an open-world action rpg - Tavin had a series of attacks and abilities he could use to fight at anytime in a similar (but not as fun) fashion to Shaolin Monks. Deception was very linear with static, stiff animations and a frustrating interface.

There's always room to expand on a franchise and introduce a new type of game. Shaolin Monks was a fun detour but my first love in MK is the fighting franchise itself. I would be interested in seeing some sort of mode similar to Konquest, but not anywhere near as expansive. Maybe something more in line with the original "Konquest" mode in Deadly Alliance - a short little story mode for each character (a little more fleshed out of course) is all I would need.

Deception was so incredible because for the first time ever we could travel between these awesome realms and really experience them. I am definitely on board with Konquest making a return for sure.

Honestly, I like the idea of a mode where you can traverse the realms, but Konquest mode was severely flawed to me. Bland environments (in its time), too much walking, running and passing time in places with minimal interaction... I dunno, the whole thing felt really hollow to me.

Now if they wanted to do more of a Shaolin Monks style brawler and maybe iterate on that formula a bit with more RPG elements, stuff to buy with in game currency, more story, a greater variety of action and adventure so it’s not just “enter place, beat up enemies, repeat,” that’d be great.

Maybe even marry a mode like this to the current story mode, so you have character chapters, tons of cutscenes and a cohesive narrative, but you also have a wider variety of stuff going on than fight, cutscene, fight cutscene.

I might be wrong, but I feel like MK9 and MKX has story modes that lasted around five or six hours apiece. Now, for a fighting game story, that’s good. But if you really filled out this combined mode with plenty of variety, like RPG elements, kurrency, unlocks, purchasable items, optional side story missions, an arcade ladder, a tournament, brawler sections, one on one sections and a lot more, you could make this story mode adventure a much bigger and ultimately more rewarding experience both in items gained and overall quality of experience.

I’ve kinda thought that story mode, as it is, has been a dream come true as far as lore content and continuity goes, regardless of the logical inconsistencies and what not. But after two games, it’d be nice to see them do more than simply make the mode longer. There are several ways they could expand this mode and make it something even more unique, and I’d like to see them try.

The old style of story telling needs to make a return because the new style is GOD AWFUL.
Story mode beyond it's spectacle is complete shit. Either go back to the old Bio and lore style of telling the stories through characters do the main story follow a small group like in Tekken or do it like Killer Instincts Story mode. A little expansive slice for each character.

Indeed it needs to. We can still have Storymode while Konquest would replace the Krypt.
