Registering an account on Mortal Kombat Online is free and simple. All active accounts are required to use at least five letter, number or special characters in their user name. The use of characters not located on standard keyboards is frowned upon, due to the fact many of these special characters will not be displayed properly; therefore, please refrain from using them at this time. Accounts are available for anyone that would like to join the site; however, when applying for a Mortal Kombat Online account please keep the following rules in mind:

  • No Multiple Accounts. To ensure posting and other site functions are not abused, each individual is allowed no more than one account. Choose your username wisely, as it will be your identity for the duration of your time on Mortal Kombat Online. This means no alternate accounts, or accounts identifiably from persons using the same internet connection. We at Mortal Kombat Online realize some individuals may truly share an internet connection, but to ensure proper maintenance and a pleasant experience for all users of the forums, each unique IP address is allotted no more than one account. Users found to be in violation of this will have at least all but the original account banned and run the risk of more severe penalty at administrator's discretion. Continued attempts to create clone accounts will result in the full ban of that party.

  • No Parody or False Nicknames. These are usernames that are similar or a variation on existing names. Imitation is not the sincerest form of flattery, here. Do not create a usernames intentionally mislead others into thinking you are a member of the Mortal Kombat Online staff, Portal Guards, or known people in the MK universe (i.e. Ed Boon, John Vogel). Users found violating this rule will have those accounts banned.

  • No Offensive Accounts. What is deemed to be offensive includes, but is not limited to usernames containing strong language, sexually related terms, or any form of discriminatory reference. Moderators reserve the right to ban any account they deem as offensive. Users banned for this reason must submit a ban review before possibly being allowed a new account.

  • While previous policy has made allowances, we currently do not encourage or support the creation of new identities. When registering, please ensure you give due consideration to your choice of username, as it is the handle by which you will be identified throughout your tenure on Mortal Kombat Online. Your username will be your identity within the MKOmmunity, not only creating an identity for social interaction, but also interactive elements of the site, such as competitions and games. Choose a name that reflects you and your interests and enjoy amassing your own personal history with the site.

Icons and Signatures

  • No inappropriate icons or signatures. This includes but is not limited to nudity, partial nudity, sex and sexual situations. This also applies to vulgar images and all other images that could offend users. All of the above also applies to direct links to sites displaying this material. Moderators reserve the right to decide what is considering inappropriate.

  • No excessive signature length. Please use your judgment, but a signature should not need anymore than 5-6 lines depending on font point used. Less is more. It is a signature, not a novel. Be reasonable. This includes multiple images placed on top of one another. If the images or text proceed below the site’s automatic limit that falls under this rule as well.

    • Do not exceed 350kbs. You are allotted this amount to do with as you please, but the combination of your icon and your signature should not exceed this total.

    • No icons or signatures directed at another user without consent of that user. This will be deemed as a form of flaming.

    • No flash movie signatures. These are typically too large and also require embedding, which can often cause problems for many members. As a result, no flash signatures are tolerated.

    • No music signatures. This refers to signatures that play songs. Other users should not be subjected to the music of your choice; please keep others in mind.

    • No signature or icon which prompts any type of pop up for any browser. This is self-explanatory; if your signature or avatar requires a password, please be sure to set it for public viewing.

Members unable to comply with these rules will be issued no less than a "shadow ban". Shadow bans allow a forum moderator to temporarily remove your icon and signature, restoring it to site default. To have a shadow ban removed, please ensure you have complied with the above guidelines and politely contact a moderator to let them know. Users who repeatedly incur these violations may incur a more severe ban.
