Mortal Kombat Online Instant Messaging

What is the Mortal Kombat Online IM Network?

The Mortal Kombat Online IM Network is a new concept for the Mortal Kombat fan community. It is a private instant messaging network designed so that MK Online members can have instant communication with other MK Online members, without necessarily having to trade AIM/MSN/Yahoo/ICQ information. This way, you can find all of your fellow MK fans in one place!

Who is the service available for?

The service is available to any user with a Flawless Account, or Free Users with a ranking of Warrior or above. Also, the IM network is tied into the PM system. Any user can send/receive messages using the webpage, but only Warriors or higher (as well as Flawless Account Assassins) can actually use it as an IM client.

What program do I use to access the MK Online IM Network?

The MK Online IM Network is accessible to any IM client which supports the Jabber protocol. For Windows users, we recommend Exodus. For Mac OS X users, we recommend Psi. However, multi-IM clients such as Gaim (for Windows and Linux users), Trillian Pro (for Windows users), and Fire (for Mac OS X users) support Jabber as well.

Will this be replacing the #MortalKombat Online IRC Network?

No, we will still maintain the IRC channel.

Okay, so, what's my username on the IM system, and what server do I connect to?

Your username will be your username on the site. For the server, put "mortalkombatonline.com".

What about my password?

Your password is set in your Settings page. We recommend choosing a different password than your site password for security reasons.

Okay, so, I'm in! What format do I use for other users' usernames, if I want to add them to my buddy list?

The format for other users' usernames is username@mortalkombatonline.com. So, for example, if you wished to add DArqueBishop to your contact list, enter in DArqueBishop@mortalkombatonline.com. That will send the user a request for permission to add you. If they decline the request, you may still be able to IM them, but you will not see if they're online or not.

I've invited a user to be on my buddy list; I know they're online, and I'm sure they granted permission for me to see their status, yet I can't see them. How do I fix this?

This is a known bug in the Jabber implementation. Simply sign out and sign back in, and you will be able to see those you have just added who are online.

Does the Mortal Kombat Online IM Network support offline messages and chatrooms?

The IM system does indeed support offline messages. However, chatrooms are currently not implemented. We may add this feature in sometime in the near future if there is enough demand for it.

Are there any rules of conduct for the Mortal Kombat Online IM Network?

Yes, the same rules that apply to the #MortalKombat Online IRC Network apply here. View those rules by clicking here.

Who can I turn to if I have a problem?

You can contact any staff member via site PM, email, or IRC if you have trouble. If you're able to access the network, you can contact DArqueBishop and he will help you if he is able.
