Humorist Jack Handey once said of the pugilistic arts, "To me, boxing is like a ballet - except there's no music, no choreography, and the dancers hit each other." It probably isn't all that surprising, then, that Warner Brothers would tap Kevin Tancharoen to direct their live-action reinvention of the Mortal Kombat franchise.
Until recently, Tancharoen was best known for his work in the dance world, having choreographed acts as significant as Madonna and Britney Spears. He co-created the MTV reality series, DanceLife, before directing the 2009 remake of musical classic, Fame. These might not sound like the credentials of an MK director, but if his well known proof of concept proved nothing else, he is ready to inject the series with the martial arts choreography it deserves.

As can be seen from the above photograph, the look of his costume is very similar to his look in the early games as well as the movies. This shot of Scorpion in a snowy forest could imply a meeting with rival Sub-Zero during the feature episode for the ninja spectre.
