Hsu Hao's Bio Implant

I just unlocked Hsu Hao last night and completed his training via Konquest. Apparently, the bionic implant is a replacement for his heart. Did he have a bad heart or did he get this done on purpose? ie, body enhancements?

it could have been ripped out by kano. i don't like how the heart looks, they could have made it cooler.

Your guess is as good as mine but I think it was just implanted as an extra weapon, such as in his fatality.
