I just bought MK4 for N64 today, and I was wondering how to get the Alternate Costumes. Do you need to have the Controller Pak thing?

Because I don't have one.

You don't need one for MK4. Just push START + any button to rotate the select screen pictures 2 or 3 times and to choose an alternate outfit.

Okay. I'll try that.

Edit: I tried it, and I can't seem to get some peoples' costumes. But it works, thank you.

It depends on the character you're choosing. For instance, to get Cage's tux outfit, you have to rotate his pic 3 times. Same with Sonya and Tanya.

Hmm. I only had to rotate it once for Cage's tux, but I understand now.

Thanks again.

You're welcome. And I've just tried that (N64 & PC) and it's 3 times to get the tux. But oh well, glad you got it working.

IIRC for most of them it's 6 times, at the second outstanding comment.

Second question...

When you activate the cheat menu, it gives an option to turn on fatalites. Is that the only way to do fatalities?

Of course not. That's just the easier way. You can choose which fatality you want to make easier (1st, 2nd or a stage fatality). Then all you need to do is press Down + HP after "Finish Him/Her!" (distance doesn't matter).

As for the normal way to do a fatality, go to Practice menu, choose your fighter and Begin Practice. Then press Start during the fight and select "Show Moves List" menu. There you can see all special moves and fatalities inputs. Or just go here and choose your fighter.

Ah.

They should have made it more clear.
