i stand by my "duh!"

that was the whole point
mkda was a return to the basics
have you noticed that several mk1 characters were there(almost all of them)

ofcourse some characters were killed and things were changed, but ti was supposed to be mk returning to it's roots

mk3 and beyond was cool but corny
so they decided to refresh the series and take everything to a new direction

Yeah, exactly. That was Midway's point. They wanted to take it back to the roots, hence Liu Kang being killed. Also, they wanted to focus more on the fighting and less on the end of each match.

Yeah, I agree, all the MK1 Characters are in MKDA, see:

Johnny Cage, Sonya, Kano, Scorpion, Sub-Zero, Raiden and Shang Tsung = Playable
Goro = Kitana's Ending
Liu Kang = MKDA Intro

The only difference is the Stage Fatality and the 3D-2D thing.

And since Midway is back to the basics at MKDA, I hope to see MK6 with that "thing" of MK2, and creating the same impact that MK2 created.

well said.....this is the first mk game ever created where the fatals are not the main focus...and where actually fighting is the funnest part, not rushing to do a fatal. i mean, i had little desire at first to even do fatals, just cause i was in love with the gameplay so much
