I'm in agreement with Red on this one. MK has always been a fighting game since the arcades. If you kids want fluff, then go play something else.

The MK team has brought this one back to old school and basics. 2d fighting and less 3d movement.

I for one am excited to see how sidestepping and moving in 3d will work with a stick/...

Seriously, I've been wanting that to be incorporated into the series since they went 3-D. That should actually make it easier to freaking control now (for me at least)... Now I want the game but I won't have a system that can play it. *hopes for a Wii version*

In your rush to be "right," you failed to actually read what ChrisDVD wrote. He said nothing about the game being slow. The problems that he did have with things like character models were minor according to him. You read something that wasn't even there.

As for replay value, that is a valid argument. The obvious counter-argument, however, is that Online play provides all of the replay value that you could want. This comes down to personal taste, but I rarely ever finished the conquests in the previous 3 games. They weren't at all appealing to me. All of my enjoyment came from playing online, so for *some* of us, the lack of unlockables isn't a negative at all. Unlike your first argument, I am not saying this one is not valid. It would undoubtedly add to the overall quality of the game, but for me it's pretty minor.

It's minor to you because you play online. Not everyone does.
And for us, lack of in game content makes for less replay value.
Surely anyone can understand that much at least.

the replay comes with fighting!! so you dont have friends and you dont go online... draw up brackets its not had to make the fighting aspect of a fighting game fun as long as the fighting is good

Indeed. Not that anyone was complaining. People were voicing
their concerns of things they felt were important for their gaming
experience to be great. But of course when you're dealing with MK
fans who think their opinions and views are above anyone elses,
then we get these back and forth arguments. Like I said if they

and some of you couldn't careless about the hardcore fighting scene

and there is nothing wrong with that if you not apart of it thats fine

But if MK team listens to the hardcore scene and makes a game thats good for competition

really the casuals will get better just from the better comp and MK will get the respect it deserves amongst the scene.

If you didnt like konquest then all that was left was racing and fighting or chesscombat and fighting

when in the past mk has had a bad fighting mechanic and poorly implemented kontent..

It's obvious that there are two distinct demographics who play MK games.

On one side of the fence, you have the people who play the game more or less like a digital comic book, and on the other side you have players like me, redsaleen, pure20 and Konqrr who play for competition. I guess you can chalk up our anticipation of the game to the potential that it has with the improved play mechanics.

All of us game play enthusiasts have been side lined by the content/aesthetics enthusiasts since UMK3. The subsequent MK games were more about "How much junk can we cram into this game to cover up our mistakes" as opposed to "Hmmm.. lets provide the players with the ability to escape throws, and make their own combos?" "While we're at it, let's add wake up attacks to prevent uncontested rush downs." We haven't gotten any of that until now.

Red, I know that you believe I'm wasting my time trying to explain this, you're probably right. But we have to be considerate of those who do only play MK for the story, fatalities and content. It's our turn to take the wheel for once people, all the extra bonus content will no doubt come with MK9.

I can agree with this as well. If this game plays well, and so far it sounds like it does, then that means that the next MK will play just as well (or even better as they tweak and fix anything that need it), and then they can focus on the rest that was not done for this game, including more gore or random useless extras that people crave so much (although I have to admit that I love the trivia bits they throw in about the characters that come with some of the content).
I haven't even had a chance to look at the pictures or red the endings yet because I don't want to spoil the game, but so far, I really am starting to consider getting this game, more than Armageddon.
