What if DC(or whoever owns DC) bought the MK franchise?

Warner Bros could be the best thing to happen to the franchise or run it even further into the ground, it could go either way.

They have a pretty good history of assimilating different properties into the DCU, and are still doing so today. I don't know if many MK fans would follow MK to the comics, but I think they'd be worthy custodians to the characters and story.

If the Story was kept seperate from the other comics i'd be ok with it.

I'd go on a massive killing spree.

I agree, MK Vs DCU is a fun novelty, but the MK characters have no business in the main DCU continuity.

Really? I think as DC properties they'd slot in quite easily! [Article pending] Certain characters seem pefect for populating and interacting with slightly obscure corners of the DCU! Lord knows they never whored "ninja" to death the way Marvel has!
Not to mention how seemlessly a contrivance for interdimensional competition slots in! A few nips, tucks, and new associations later, the MK characters needn't change a lot to make sense in the DCU proper -- if not as an alternate Earth.
As far as WB/DC licensing for a game, I think we already know how that works. We've seen it happen before, and are seeing exactly that right now. That isn't a mystifying subject. The real intrigue is what they do away from games, which are outsourced to companies like Midway.
MK would get a kickass writing staff, that's what.
There'd be a running storyline instead of a stilted EARTHREALM ENDING EVENT, meaning you get to see the characters personal enemies and smaller scale threats. This means you'd get to see your favorite characters doing their own personal ass kicking monthly.
And since it wouldn't be a mainstream media release (movies/games/etc), there would be no holding back what the characters could do. There could be realistic evisceration done with relatively realistic methods instead of people popcorn done with over the top corny techniques.

I wouldnt mind seeing mk in a Vertigo imprint or another DC imprint. I would hate to see it exist in the DCU with other superheroes though.
I wouldnt want them to be in the DCU. I understand everyone on that. But I think the series would really be revamped if a change such is the rights to mk were to be in DC's hands. Midway did their part. And with a few exceptions(during the last ten years) havent done so well. Id like to see a change in the owners of MK.
Positives:
New and hopefully better Story
Bring new characters
Maybe a comic brought back
A new movie perhaps(and done well)
Warner Bros. has a bigger budget than Midway
Negatives:
Less Gore and Violence
They might not bring back the whole MK team
Change is almost always a long difficult process

That's actually a good idea. Either them or Dark Horse. I wouldnt mind seeing mk in a Vertigo imprint or another DC imprint. I would hate to see it exist in the DCU with other superheroes though.
I would definitely not support it if MK was integrated into the DCU, but an Elseworlds-ish title wouldn't sound bad. But keep the involvement of heroes to a minimum, and haul Tobias and Vogel over. Let Ed Boon cry in a cardboard box with some moldy bread and sewer water in a soda botle.
DC, if you EVER buy MK, KEEP THE VIOLENCE ABOVE ALL ELSE! Oh, and amp it up some.

no, you wouldn't. go back to livejournal, emo kid.
Anyways, this would never happen. Period. MK is going to save Midway's ass yet again with sales. I don't know if anyone keeps up but Midway hasn't been doing so great as a whole lately.

If it did happen, which I seriously doubt. You would see a lot more superhero fighting games coming out and well as a lot of crossovers.
