So are they gonna sue YouTube now??

YOu do realize that Lars does not care that the album leaked, and the only reason he ever sued was because of a unfinished demo that got leaked?

I've only heard a few of the songs, but I really like the riffs. It's definetly what they needed to bring back.

I'm just really pissed right now though about how there selling tickets for thier new tour. I've been wanting to see them for the past 2 years, now it's prctically imposible to get tickets for it. furious...and I really want to see them again!

LOL, the price of them or the demand?

The demand for them. I need at least 8-10 tickets for me, and my friends. We don't mind paying face value of $90 a ticket or so, but they're already sold out because they did a crappy pre-sale, and theres no way I'll pay more than face value for tickets.

I'm really liking All Nightmare Long, That was Just Your Life, and The Day That Never Comes. The first 2 much more than The Day that never comes. No idea why they choose that song as thier first single from the album, the other 2 are much better IMO.

Not sure if anyone else has noticed this but most of thier songs on this new album seems to borrow, or seem like they where inspired by previous songs from Metallica (i.e. End of the Line - Fire, and Seek & Destroy, All Nightmare Long - Master of Puppets, The Day that Never Comes - One, etc).

I can understand why people are saying the album really isn't anything new from them technically, but the instrumentals have a really refined feel, while still coming off as raw.

I just can't get enough of the album really. It really is very good.

i might just be nit-picking, but does anybody else think that the sound quality could (and should) be better? the mastering sounds kind of... well, bad

the drums seem a little too loud, but I suppose that makes sense, since on St Anger people complained that they weren't loud enough.

and i know some of you might be saying "It's metal, it's supposed to be loud"... well let me rephrase; the drums aren't too loud, they're overpowering. They push out the guitar, which is never a good thing. But honestly Kirk's solo work isn't his best anyway.

the whole thing sounds pretty terrible when turned up high, and there is digital clipping throughout

I'm not really attacking the band, because look at something like Guitar Hero version of the album. It sounds a lot better/cleaner. It's the mixers fault.

I dunno, maybe it's just me. But a lot of lower-budget, less known bands have better sound quality, so you'd think a mega-band like Metallica could afford to put more money and time into making sure their songs sound good on the album.

I actually agree with you on Kirk's comment. His solo's seemed really sloppy like he was having trouble either writing them, or even playing them clearly.

Take solo's from "ride the lightning" and compare them in the quality of sounds blending aswell as playing ability and ul almost be dissapointed in DM.

I was actually reading about this last week. Supposedly it's because of the way it was compressed for the reason why it sounds pretty crappy. The article aslo mentioned that the Guitar Hero version doesn't have the problem.

Personally i haven't noticed it myself, I downloaded my copy of the album form ITunes, so i don't know if the same audio problem applies. If I can find the articel I'll post a link to it for you.

[edit]: Found it. It's on the Wiki page for the album Wiki - Metallica Death Magnetic. It's under the section "Criticism Regarding Production".
