I went for a BA in Graphic Design.
I originally had the idea of being a comic book artist, but I kinda felt graphic design might be a better fit and open up more possibilities down the road. Plus, I thought it was a pretty creative field.
After being in the field for quite some time I feel like I'm hitting a wall w/ my career. By increasingly diversifying my skills and incorporating more artistic and conceptualized themes into my work, with the diversity of concept art for games and movies being very much intriguing, it may be a more viable avenue to venture towards next year. The job prospects in the graphic design field where I live has been stagnant for quite some time and it's not easy to land a job that'll cattier to one's advancing skills and interests... and offer a good salary thanks to the economy. This is why I've been working on projects over the last several months to develop new artistic skills and hopefully go off into something more dynamic and liberating. I also have been cultivating this along w/ my writing interests. Hopefully, I'll have good luck in 2011 with my goals for both.

Just got done with my Assoc in Visual Communications. YAY me!
Chose mine because I like to make other people's ideas come to life better than they imagined they could be. I like to consult with folks, and then have them leave me to the work... for the most part. Love people's reaction to something I do for them as a form of helping them be happy about something over and over when they look at what I made them. Serves as semi-instant gratification for me too. I also like to be able to make my own ideas come to life in some way, shape or form as well, and this is a broad enough spectrum for me to exercise my creative muscles perpetually in.
2D, 3D, Audio, Video, and Typographic.... there's enough room in there for me to perfect how random, wide, and vast my ideals seem to reach sometimes.
Originally, I went in with the thought of video game design, or just being a really good graphic designer. But then the options within the field showed their many faces.
So now, I'm pretty sure I'm headed for marketing and design some kind of way. A formal title can look something like an Art Director, or some sort of marketing professional. My current title is just that,
Public Relations / Marketing intern. I'm busy alot now, but it's still a sweet gig.
Anywho, that's why...
