Yeah that'd be cool, like Sub-Zero and Reptile? A Dark Raiden one would look pretty ominous too.

So they went from dark and obscure, bland colours and a meh cover to way too colourful? The yellow on gold with all the sparkles and lines, makes it way too sparkly. What's with the gold obsession... I hope it does bode well for colourful characters and arenas in the game.

P.S. So happy that leak didn't reveal a roster, though it probably means Sonya as playable and a guy named Geras (Greek God of old age, so might be a new god / old guy) haha :)

Ow no, does this mean the roster is true?!?! Diederick, Geras, Reina and Kronika as new characters? It makes sense as Geras is a Greek god of old age who is at odds with Kronika, also a goddess type. God that story sucks and her as the final boss?? Why would they reveal her like this? It is actually replacing Havik and Hotaru with Kronika and Geras, one who wants chaos and the other who doesn't...

This also means the best new character in D'Vorah out?? This means no new monster character, no Baraka, Goro back in (odd), all ninjas in (really stupid), Frost and Daegon as the only 3D characters aside from Bo Rai Cho & Fujin (finally in!). Daegon but no Taven? Really hope they reveal a character that is not in that leaked list...Diederick, I'm Dutch and this is a horrible name, especially because it's an actual name...gayest name for a character ever.

I was thinking maybe someone known but not as popular for a change, to set an old fashioned tone. Like an antagonist (mystery woman comes to mind, think MK Deception's cover with Onaga) or something like background scenery from Outworld or Netherrealm (MK2, MK4 and MKSZM did this well at times). I can't remember this being done before.

This pretty much confirms Sonya as playable, it would be a huge waste of money otherwise.

Aside from that, if Sonya is in, Kano and Johnny must be as well, in fact, I would bet on the entire MK1 cast.

As for the fact that we're most likely getting the entire Cage family again, people need to accept Cassie was never meant to replace her parents, and they don't even play alike, not mention that both Sonya and Johnny are iconic, not on the level of Scorpion/Sub Zero, but still iconic.

Cover art - blah. Still too bland for my taste.

Ronda Blade - Blah. Terrible actress. Since its just her voice, we will see but blah.

Kronika and Geras - Alright, I will be patient and wait it out.

MK replacing X-Rays with Supers - Eh.

We will see how this goesand I am open to whatever new gameplay mechanics they wanna offer up but the roster better damn be more diverse than X.

So, time after time, the MK fanbase proves to be demanding and insatiable.

Guys, for the second time in its history (MK X was the first) this franchise is getting the A-List treatment and we are here complaining about things we still don't know and that still need to be confirmed.

I am so excited for MK 11 because finally the franchise is back where it belongs, like it used to be in the early.'90, but with a bigger budget.

I deliberately haven't properly read any of the leaks or committed them to memory as I want more of a surprise when things get revealed. I'm just hoping for a diverse roster and that we get some 3D era representation (I'd like to see Reiko, Fujin and Havik mostly - I'd be thrilled if they were in even as DLC). If we get any new characters as good as D'Vorah and Kotal Kahn I'll be happy too.

But at the end of the day, it's a new MK game continuing to put the MK series back on the map, looking superbly polished from what we've seen so far and the new engine & rumoured gore tech seem like they'll be phenomenal. So I really don't have a strong opinion on the cover art as it's not what I'm focusing on. Bring on next week!

I pointed out to SEVERAL of you that the cover art went a very long way toward convincing me the leak was real a month ago, because the Scorpion was too unique, detailed, and frankly, too much a dead on match, to not be the same model from the trailer. I don't blame those of you who argued the point for being skeptical... I usually am too... but I got a couple, "I am also a graphic designer or am close personal friends with a graphic designer and that's fake" responses... One of you even posted links to like 10 different websites showing the pre-release cover (the blank black one) and said, "See, not the cover" and when I said, "That's clearly a pre-release cover" I got a "wow, the denial is strong" or something like that... and just. I'm sorry. I needed to do this.

I <3 you all. I wish you no ill will or malicious intent. I just needed to do that, because the thing I do for a living was challenged here, and like... Vindication is sweet. I'm sorry that we have a bland cover with Scorpion on it again, but HAHA! I KNEW IT WAS REAL!

Pretty much all this. Mortal fucking Kombat is a triple A game with a multimedia conglomerate backing it up and hyping it's release into the stratosphere in 2019. Just think about how unlikely that scenario is and how amazing it is for us as fans.

MKX had a better cover. I think the yellow and overlaying effects cheapens it a bit but It does differentiate it a lot from MKX's visuals, so that's good. I do love Scorpion's new look!

So, now that we know this is real, I recall that around the time this leaked, another (similar) cover allegedly showing Geras materialized, but I never really saw a source for that. And I didn't dwell on it nearly as much, because unlike the Scorpion model, we had no frame of reference at all to compare the "Geras" model to, so it could literally have come from absolutely anywhere...

Did the Geras cover come from the same leaker? What was the source on that? Can we now conclude that's definitely what this guy is going to look like?

Great cover although follows MKX's lead with Scorpion front and center with the name of game in the middle. Weird seeing red on Scorpion but I think that is a consequence of a shader. Looks like that leak was correct which was quite obvious when I read it.

The cover sucks not because it's bright, but because it just looks like fan art.

"Dark and gritty" does not mean no colour and I'm actually hoping this cover is a sign the game will be a bit more colourful. The past few games had mostly dull, muted colours throughout. Way too many yellows/browns. It's boring.

The cover does look cheap, dont know why. I agree it looks like fanart. Maybe the posing or the color scheme? Not sure, something just feels off.

And for the record, I have no problem with famous people in MK. But how about someone who can or is known for actually acting and can emote vocally?
