German Mortal Kombat Fansite MK Universe has reported that the German magazine 360 Live has confirmed Cyrax and Kano. From the magazine:
Außerdem kehren Johnny Cage, Cyrax und Kano zurück. [Translated: In addition to Johnny Cage, Cyrax and Kano return]

As if it this weren't enough, Playstation Magazine has confirmed Raiden (who we knew about already from the trailer), Sonya, Jax, Smoke, Kitana, and Liu Kang.

Thanks go to MKO Forum Users Casselman and scorpio for submitting the News Leads on these confirmations!

Can I get a confirmation on this and if so why hasn't anyone posted this?

Seems like kind of a strange way for outlets to break the story on those characters. I mean, we all know that we're getting MK1-MK3, so none of those are surprises, but no pictures? That's kinda weak of them to simply say that they're in the game without actually backing it up.

These characters were not confirmed, they were simply "mentioned" by the respective magazines. I have no idea why they did it, but they were not stated to actually be in the game. The PS magazine even used the word "expected".

Hell, MKO could do a story about what the entire "expected" roster is. There's no point. Guessing at the roster isn't news.

That's kinda what I was aiming at as well. Saying that people like Kano and Liu Kang are in the game, when Ed Boon himself has stated that this is a revisiting of MK1-MK3 is like saying that you expect Lara Croft to make an appearance in the next Tomb Raider or that Sweet Tooth should be a playable character in the next Twisted Metal.

Sure, they're all fair to assume because they're blatantly obvious, but it's not news if these outlets don't have pics to show when they're mentioning the characters.

I'm not slamming the original poster here by any means, I'm slamming the places he got the info from for their shoddy journalism.

I agree with most of the posters here. These confirmations are really unconfirmed.

That being said, I would really be shocked if Cyrax did not make it into the game.

They have already done Sektor; with only slight modifications they would have Cyrax.
