None of the original trilogy or 4 went completely black. Difference between dark and black.
Anyways, You guy's are right. No one would want to see backgrounds during fatalities, That'd be stupid. After hearing how absurd my request is... I am now in love with the black backgrounds. They are wonderful.

I have to agree with KITANA, the black backgrounds during fatalaties look horrible, I mean they try to black it out but you can see glitchy floors during fatalaties.. its not even 100% blacked out o.o just dim the lights ^_^

Although it's not a big deal, I prefer the "darkened" or "dimmed" backgrounds during fatalities rather than the complete black background that we've seen in MKDA-MK9. Something about the dimmed background gave the fatality more of an atmospheric feel. Remember when you killed someone in the Living Forest in MK2 and the 'lights' dimmed and that dark, eerie music played? I miss that, you know... the whole depressing look to the stage while your opponent gets slayed. I just wish there was an option available, that's all.

It definitely bothers me when the whole arena disappears. I never got why they do that.

This on both accounts.

they have to black out the arena cause of fps problems!
trust me on ps3 with the tournament code the fatalities are unenjoyable because of slow down...

That would be truly pathetic, If the geniuses at NRS could not accomplish this as a simple Gameplay Option.
It's fine on XBOX In two player versus. Only on Jades dessert, There is a small spike due to the sandstorm. ( Cut the sandstorm, Not the light. )
Can someone who has HD recording capabilities, Give us a pic of a Babality in the 111-111 Tournament Mode Kombat Kode, Or maybe a Fatality pic in Goro's lair.
Would be appreciated.

Blackened backgrounds have always been a tradition in MK except MK4, so get over it.
You seriously think at this point, after the game is finished and released that NRS would take out the blackened fatality screen cause 1 fan is complaining on how it doesn't look right? Just think of how many fans would be bitching if the backgrounds didn't black out.

Agree, all the fatality's have nothing impressive, the black bg and fatality music make them look boring.

MK4
MKvsDC
MK 20011
What was that you were saying now?
I could'nt agree with you more! it is something i have loved since the inception of the series, and it makes for more visual "possibilities" than the new MK's blacked out backgrounds do. funny you posted this as i was just bitching to my girlfriend last night abount it! I said " what the hell is going on? are the kombatants being teleported to an ALTERNATE DIMENSION to be finished? so YES PLEASE FIX!

I don't understand anymore, seriously. I could understand if this was one of things that you nitpick about, where it bugs you a little but overall, who cares? But you're making this out to be like a major flaw or glitch that NRS completely dropped the ball on, and therefore the game is now ruined for you. I gues you should write a letter to Ed Boon telling him that the game is officially shit because you can't see the backgrounds during fatalities

I've sat back here for months, And have seen 10 page threads complaining about certain characters Hair, Eyes, Voices, Just about everything non gameplay related.
Only complaining because aside from ONLINE LAGGING LIKE CRAZY, I find this game to be perfect in every way, Especially when it comes to the calculative technic required combo system.
Sorry if I'm annoyed, And constantly reminded of this one flaw I see that can easily be fixed. Every fucking time I perform a Fatality,And It looks identical on all 30 levels, No matter where I'm standing..... And you like this... Sad.
If I didn't love the game, I wouldn't give a fuck about this.

It's not that I like the blacked out background... it's that I don't give a shit. Even back in the original trilogy when the stage simply dimmed I never thought "yup, that was the right way to go." I was too busy enjoying the actual fatalities.
Besides, the characters in this MK take up most of the screen, as oppose to the old MKs where they were just little sprites. Of course if they completely blacked out the stages back then it would look stupid. But now, most people hardly even notice it or even care, because that's not what they're looking at.

Not looking at your screen during the Fatalities, Oooh.... I might try that.
And by the way, This is a thread for people who DO give a shit.

That's not what he said. He was implying people aren't paying attention to the background, smartass. Did you really expect everyone to agree with you? This just seems like another pointless nitpick. I know the faded backgrounds looked cool back in the old games, but this time around the main focus is on the blood, gore and severity of the fatalities, because this extreme level of violence wasn't available in MKvsDC. Fully darkened background = absolute focus on finishing moves. Get it?

"Delusional people" are pretending to be fans of black backgrounds. Who the fuck said that ONCE in this thread??? I never said I love the all black backgrounds, I said I don't give a shit, because I'M NOT LOOKING AT THE BACKGROUND DURING A FATALITY. How bad must your A.D.D. be that when you're watching someone get decapitated, disembowled and mutalated that you sit there going "oh man, I wish I could see the monks clapping in the background!!"
THAT is really sad.
