I think it makes the fatalities "fit." Why would I paint a picture without a background? Im going to paint a scene with a fisherman catching a big fish but forget the forest and the sky in the background. I kind of wish my sig had a background.. I wanted it to have the old school hell stage from UMK3 but I dont have photoshop.
At first, I thought you were belligerent moron but don't take that as an insult because you've really changed my opinion on where and what this thread is. Particularly it's never been my interest to nit-pick ideas in a video game but the adjustment is fairly obvious. I never bothered to enjoy anything more than the fatality but seeing a demonstration on Courtyard makes it much more appealing, like the fight was continuing before the monks.
My votive is 100% for a feature option instead of a kode, completely brilliant idea as you said so yourself.

You sir, Are correct.
Standard
Tournament mode
Tournament Mode Fatalities
Please refrain from passing gas on the train.
And, I didn't want Tanya to have to see this, But.....
She probably thinks she's next.
Tournament Mode is unavailable without cooperation from another, Please add an option for this Fatality feature in single player.
It can go right under Subtitles.

I agree, the background should stay the same during finishers, looks so much better that way.

Signed, I want it as an option.

An option? It's already an option, it just needs to be permanent.

It's one thing to disagree but when you personally insult me it just proves how immature you are.
I apologize for thinking differently than you, I'm also sorry you had to respond to a post not directed at you.

Ontopic:
just look at the damn fatality, what's in the background doesn't even matter. People will look for anything to complain about these days, why don't you people just play the damn game and have some fun.

Fatalities look so much better without the black background. I agree with the OP.

I agree, for some reason it does look better with the backgrounds. I have no idea why they only kept the backgrounds in finishers through use of a kombat kode. The mind baffles.
Glad to see the Majority of you agree. Should of posted the pics initially, Anyways.
Instead of asking NRS for something far fetched... This is a simple request for this beautiful feature to become an option, Right in the main menu under Gameplay Options.
After all, It's already in the games code. No reason to not be able to enjoy this in at least the ladders.
Trust me. Over months time, This will help to give individual Fatalities more replay value. Really surprised not even one MOD will support this cause... Yet.
Going to play some MK, Hopefully those of you pro this simple request, Will help to support this threads cause.
I've Tweeted NRS the OP, But the more of you that do the same.. Betters are chances.
Be back in a while. Sorry for originally having this topic with a not so friendly ( Bitchy ) title.
Only trying to spread the blood, I mean... The love.

As much as I want to defend this, you're just gonna have to deal. I happen to like the fatality darkness where it is, but I wish rainbow blood and throwing encouraged and foreground off a bunch of other non-intrusive kombat kodes should be options-able.
Unless you wanna go and turn every kode into an option (and completely defeat the purpose), sorry. The whole point of the codes is an agreement on both players parts and there's just as many fors, againsts and don't cares out there on all fronts.

I definitely agree that No throws, X-rays or even Super bar if you wanted....
Should all be an available host option in any versus mode, Online or local.
Encourage anyone reading these last couple posts which are totally off topic to refer to the original post. Any positive feedback is welcome.
Let's please keep this on topic. If anyone somehow has misconstrued the OP into what they would want in the menu, I suggest starting a thread about it.
Thanks to all who got my back.

Thank you OP for bringing this to my attention. It is a 100% improvement. Makes the players not seem as though they left the arena and did a fatality in the dark somewhere. So glad I saw your thread about this. Here's hoping for a patch correction! :)

I completely agree--the fatalities in this game already look overworked with the want-to-be dramtic camera angles. Blacking out the background is lame...I though this before I knew there was a Kombat Kode, so I definitely be entering this in Vs mode. Hope NRS patches in the option--if you like black backgrounds, you can still have them, and for the people who want normal backgrounds, they can also have their way....win-win.

I hope so too. Yeah, I always thought that. After you play the TM style, The standard one just seem broken. They actually are... Objects dissapear along with effects, lighting. All that remains in TM. You can even see the lightsources from lets say Jade's staff, Or Raidens lightning projected onto characters, And backgrounds and objects.
Anyone ever notice the square floor in standard mode, ( Lol ) With the black blotches where objects use to be. Sometimes they disappear right in front of your face, Like WTF?
Remember guys... Copy and paste, And Tweet this...

And we can possibly get a menu option for Fatalities to look like this.....
Of course these are crap quality off screens, But... Just look.
Anyways a couple hundred of us Tweeted to be able to see a 2 minute trailer. It would be sad not to for a extra gameplay feature.
It'll take you guy's 30 seconds to help all MKO members who like this idea.
Believe it or not, I'm just 1 of many.
A few more Tweets could only help. Sorry for the double post.
Goodnight.

Wow, so much hate and negativity in here.
Here is my thoughts.
I can understand why the backgrounds are removed, so that people can focus on the Fatality itself. Depending on the stage, blood flying can easily blend with the background. Thus, could make the Fatality less appealing. But then again, I haven't done a lot of Fatalities in this game, and with the Tournament Mode on for that matter.
Although it does make the scene realistic having the background included.
I can live with or without a background during Fatalities, but I'm not gonna be a selfish prick about it. Simply put, an option would be perfect.
There's should be three options.
No Background - Default.
Dim - Like the oldschool games.
Background - What KITANA wants..I think?
Problem solved.
I wouldn't mind setting the option for Dim myself. Because again, it really doesn't make sense that the background is missing even though I'm used to it, and also, since the background is dimmed, people can still focus on the Fatality with a little hint that whatever is in the background is not important right now.
Wish I had the game to get a better understanding of the difference between the standard and what the tournament version of a fatality looks like on the same stage. Because some of the pictures confused me. For example: The picture with Mileena on the ground and the Subway stairs in the background looks fine to me. Same goes for the picture of Sheeva pulling her arms and you see objects of the Subway in the background, that looks fine to me too.
