1) That Scorpion statue looks like it could very feasably break off at the toe if anything bumps into it hard.

2) Future Shop tend to get steelbooks with purchase of the game; I got a friend to pick up his MK9 edition there which he then passed me for five bucks. I'll chance that.

3) That TPB will be available in stores everywhere.

These factors leade me to view the Kollector's edition as a colossal waste of money. Falls far short of the cool stuff available with MK9's various editions.

Coarse edition could be worth it if you really, really like that design. Looks stable anyway, and that's a nice looking box.

Probably going the Gamestop route myself.

I thought the same thing about the potential toe issue, as well as the overall value of what is being included. It's a neat Scorpion statue, but it's still another Scorpion statue. The comic book will be nothing unique or special compared to the ones already being sold, I learned this with the Injustice Collector's Edition. And I'm not find of that coarse design.

Which is why I had to think about it for a few days, and ultimately am not disappointed it's sold out.

Yep. The initial shipment sold out. It is back in stock now.

Only GTA and Majora's Mask are selling more as of now.

At one point it was number three on the list.

Hey you may be right about the system thing I didn't tell you Imy first attempt to reserve one was a failure they told me to come back in 5 days I said forget that and went to another one a couple miles away and they had both copies to reserve but they said something about having to look up a SKU for them Anyways I ended up getting the KE statue one for the PS4 and the GameStop Exclusive one for Xbox One. I hope they will let me walk out with one of their displays that they hang up I got one when MK9 came out. I Love me some Mortal Kombatwow

Over the last couple of days, I started having second thoughts about the Kollector's edition. What actually made me consider it was the TPB, because I figured that I was going to buy it anyway, so I might as well get it as part of the package. It's literally the only thing that had value to me.

So when I found out that it was already sold out, I got a bit rustled.

But you're absolutely right - the TPB will be available everywhere, the steelbooks are guaranteed to be all over Ebay, and as nice as that Scorpion statue looks, unless there's one of those transparent plastic stilts supporting it from the other side, it looks unstable as fuck. I mean, it's not like I'll ever be taking it out of that LE box, but still, I gotta question the craftsmanship here. Reading your breakdown made me feel a lot better. Thanks, bro. smile

I have to wonder, though - just how many of those Coarse editions are they planning on making, anyway? If it's only a couple of thousand, I might consider picking one up just because of how rare it's gonna be considered a few years down the line.

Both editions are up on Amazon UK for those that want them. Glad to have the non-coarse edition pre-ordered but that Amazon US only shit was frustrating.

I'm still adjusting to the initial shock of how disappointing these were tbh. I went with Gamestop for the Kombat Pack...plus I had asked a few folks for Gamestop gift cards for Christmas...so no real option there. tongue This is literally the first time that I didn't want all of the available editions.

I can only hope the art and music content is heavy in the game.

They were already laughing a long time ago. You know when it all started? The release trailer last year. People were already pre-ordering in droves back then just from that trailer. The marketing for this game has been excellent. Some of the comments I read in the IGN article even said they will buy just for the statue because they do not have a system to play the game with yet. No doubt that WB will release a hell of a lot of DLC costumes and characters post launch.

Coarse figurines go for over $200from Coarse. The Coarse Statue will be worth a a hell of a lot more down the line. I would not be surprised if the Coarse statue will go over $400 in a years time.

Good lookin' out, man. *brofist*

It's a shame. I feel like MK fans by and large have usually had respectable, modest collector incentives; Deception with its (admittedly flawed) ports of the old games, Shaolin Monks' action figures, Armageddon had a nice steelbook, MKDC's velvety box with comic. MK9 though really went above and beyond with choice, and it was quality stuff, notwithstanding the skins divvied up between retailers and different editions. I'm proud to own that fightstick.

It's a shame, it really is. Honestly, had they swapped costumes between the editions I might have bitten for the $150 version. I can't speak for everyone, but I'd want my statue to be representative of the character's 'canon' game appearance; which is why the Coarse one doesn't grab me.

For the record, to anyone who's not sure, you should get Goro with preorder no matter where you go. They mention him on Amazon and Gamestop. Not sure about Best Buy or Future Shop yet.

Yeah, it was out of stock yesterday. They are going pretty quick. I checked at work earlier today and they were back in stock.

The Coarse Edition is limited completely however. It is a hand built statue. Once they are gone, they gone.

To those of you who are basically just throwing money at NRS, I'd ask you to check out this article. Looks like gaming sites are starting to implore some to steer away for the very reasons a lot of folks on here are saying:

Yeah, the import edition is not only definitely not worth it, but MK9's edition is still available for purchase, and therefore I think this one will be too at release, considering it's not limited or anything like the Coarse edition, and MK9's is like 50 bucks right now. I'd only consider the Coarse one worth getting now, since it's limited and comes with (imo) a really cool statue and box. Otherwise, it's not worth it.

Just cancelled my import edition purchase. 120$ for a comic book, steel pack, and 4 dlc characters? Nah, that's insane.

Yeah just got paid today and was going to drop $180 on it.

I'm super bummed about it honestly.

Ruined my whole day. Wonder if they are going to make another batch or if thats it?

Don't worry, since the MK9 one is still available for purchase (and much cheaper!), I think waiting won't hurt. They're obviously going to make more copies. It's just the Coarse one that's actually limited.

Plus I'd wait until the price is lowered tbh.

Is there still (theoretically) a US Kollector's Edition yet to be announced?

Because technically the UK Kollector's Edition... is available everywhere in the UK, and from Amazon in the US, but the actual US Kollector's Edition is still forthcoming (maybe?)

In any event, when the UK edition sold out on amazon, I slammed down a preorder on the Coarse Edition just to hedge my bets. I wanted the UK Edition more, because I liked that statue better and wanted the comic. But the DLC/Scorpion Skin were the items I wanted most, which still come with the Coarse edition... so I figure I can always cancel it later if a better one comes along (or UK restocks)... and if it doesn't... at least I got the DLC and a nifty Scorpion statue (though again, I kinda like the other Scorpion better).

I do not think there is because in the USA the Import Edition is the UK Edition but in the UK the Coarse Edition is the Import Edition. I think that the Coarse Edition is the Edition that is basically the USA Kollecter's Edition.

I pre-ordered the Coarse edition. I can get the comic elsewhere, and I'm assuming the other Scorpion skin will be available for DLC later. I'm really disappointed by the lack of art book.

Let's all bug them on Twitter to release an art book down the line. I would spend good money on one.

An Australian retailer has listed a special edition of MKX

    Under description it mentions this

    Mortal Kombat X game
    3D Embossed steel case
    "Fight as Goro" download content
    "Kollective" download content

    Original source: https://www.jbhifi.com.au/games-consoles/platforms/ps4/mortal-kombat-x-special-edition/682081/

Kollective download content! Could it be that NRS is going to take the fan submission art and sell it as DLC skins?

    That would be awesome!

I also think that would be awsome!

I think I will start contacting people on deviantart so they submit their work. There is a lot of great fanart for MK. And what is submited in the Kollective is only a small fraction.
I keep an excel file with my favourite costumes made by NRS and by fans.

Also our fellow MKO members do some pretty incredible work.

    I especially like:
Reptile and Cyrax from Fezat (JAX007)

Quan Chi, Fujin, Reiko, Shinnok and Scorpion from soysaurus1 (EmperorKahn)
