In my questionaire thread, I had asked a question about introducing dragon characters back into the story such as Caro and Orin.

According to what they are, they're guardians who also are to wake up Argus' sons.

I thought these two characters were very interesting enough to want another appearance for them. Do you think there should be more of these dragons, not just these two? As well as having them play a huge role, maybe not for the next game, but in some game in the future? I mean, dragons have a heavy role in Mortal Kombat anyways, seeing how it's the logo for the game, a fatality for one of them, and is the banner for the tournament. We also see little serpent dragons be the Elder Gods in the last scene of 2011's story when Raiden becomes infused with more power... Not to mention, Onaga.

Why shouldn't there be more dragons to come into play? What do you think?

It kinda depends on where they're supposed to be coming from.

The whole story behind that big dragon egg in Deadly Alliance is that Dragons have gone extinct in Outworld and when it hatches, it'll be the last of its kind.

Orin and Caro are from Edenia, not Outworld...but Outworld and Edenia are currently still merged. So...are Orin and Caro also the last of their kind? Or are there more Edenian dragons living out there?

And then there was a dragon, or something that looked a lot like one (maybe a Wyvern or other kind of flying serpent? Depends on the anatomy) flying around the city breathing fire at helicopters in the MK9 backgrounds.

And what the hell species is Onaga, anyway? They call him the Dragon King, but he looks more like a man with dragon features than an real dragon.

I am used to the dragons of Mortal Kombat being the Elder Gods when among the realms, such as in the painting in Delia's temple and at the end of the MK9 story mode.

I was never comfortable with the dragons in Armageddon, and I'd rather they not return. To me, they seemed unnecessary. Now, if they were to be non-playable opponents, say within the story mode, I'd say bring it on. I loved how MK9 was full of non-playable opponents, like in the Challenge Tower, and I'd love to see that again.

Other than that, I don't really care for dragons. Ironic, isn't it? lol

I guess it's my love of dragons that's coming out that would like to see more use of them in this game. I feel since it's the logo and such, one would think that dragons would have a huge play in this game. I don't really see them being that important to this game other than just being the logo itself.

Does it ever explain as to why the dragon is the logo of the tournament? I don't ever really recall seeing anything that explains unless I'm just that blind.

The dragon logo symbolizes approval of the elder drakes, officiality.

Well it's a picture of what the Elder Gods look like in their true forms, so it's the logo of the religion of the realms, like the Cross is to Christianity or the Star of David to Judaism.

And the Elder Gods created the tournament and have final say over it.

There is a lot of similarities between Draco-Shokans and the Dragon King. They're similar in size, both species have three fingers per a hand, Goro and Onaga both don a ponytail, they share dragon scales and six limbs, both of the Outworld natives breathe fire, Onaga actually falls in love with a human in Li Mei's ending (this suggests a lot) and basically he is the only dragon that could even hypotethically mate with a human. Onaga having a portion of human blood would also explain Goro's dominant human features. Moreover Onaga is the only dragon in Mortal Kombat that is first and foremost a "dragon" since e.g. the dragons that we see in the end of MK9's story mode are "Elder Gods". There are different kinds of dragons even within our world's cultures – there are Welsh dragons and Chinese dragons for example. With that said, the Outworld dragon could still contain a portion of human blood, after all MK has a tendency of redefining the mythological creatures. Seeing the Elder Gods are never called "dragons" by their specimen but "gods", it might be that Onaga's species reserves the definition of "dragon" presumptuously. Onaga could be part human, part elder drake – though this one is an assumption – a bit like Edenians except Onaga's race would have inherited the dragon form attributes. Roalty commonly connects to divinity in the series hence Onaga was the Dragon King in lieu of the Dragon Emperor, maybe to remind Outworld about his legacy of divinity. There were also some flying lizards in the Kombat Tomb arena in MKII and MK9, but their definition in the MK cosmos would be something different altogether (not "dragon"). The Shokan have six limbs for so do the dragons; the wings are limbs too. The extra arms have made the Shokans the supreme fighters of Outworld.

Did he like..possess Reptiles body or something..which could explain his reptilian appearance, he looked different in Raidens MK:DA ending.

I would take that as just an early design that was made before they settled on his final design, and isn't canon. Like how John Turk in MK3 became the standard for what Sub-Zero's face looks like even though he looked like a Chinese guy with a bowl cut in his MK2 ending.

Canonically, Deception and Armageddon did show us what Onaga's original body looked like and it's exactly the same as he looks while possessing Reptile.
