IGN releases MK: Arcade Kollection Vignette!

08/30/2011 :: Posted at 12:04 PM by queve

Celebrating today's release of the Mortal Kombat: Arcade Kollection, gaming website IGN has updated with a Vignette Video featuring the three classic games of the popular fighting franchise:

Warner Bros. has also made an official announcement regarding the release of this Klassic Kollection:

"Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment today announces the Mortal Kombat Arcade Kollection is now available for download on PSN in North America. In honor of this new collection, which offers players a chance to go back to the beginning and check out the first three games in the legendary franchise, the team is releasing an all-new trailer featuring a glimpse into the downloadable title's classic Mortal Kombat gameplay. The Mortal Kombat Arcade Kollection will be available tomorrow on Xbox Live and on PSN globally. The PC version will be coming out next month.

For $9.99 on PSN, and XBLA and PC for 800 Microsoft Points, the Mortal Kobmat Arcade Kollection offers fans the first three games in the series – the original Mortal Kombat, Mortal Kombat 2, and Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3 – and online play, leader boards, achievements and trophies, as well as the chance to play through the games in their original arcade state. Developed by Other Ocean in conjunction with NetherRealm Studios, this collection marks the first time all three games have been brought together in one package.

UPDATE #1: Creative Director of NetherRealm Studios, Ed Boon, has posted a little article in PlayStation.Blog.

UPDATE #2: IGN has uploaded a Video Review for the MK: Arcade Kollection:

You can also read their Full Review in an Article found in their official website. From their article:

"I've been a fan of Mortal Kombat from the very second my mom told me I couldn't play it (lol it's my job now). Spike pits, decapitations, and Shaolin monks transforming into cheetahs define my '90s fighting game experience. So ask me to pay $10 for some old school Mortal Kombat and I'm down for it, even if it's a reminder that these games are cheap, frustrating, and dated."

"As frustrating a challenge as the games present, my nostalgia still came back in full force. Synapses I haven't fired neurons across in well over a decade whirred back to life, reminding me of all the little strategic minutiae of the games. There's something immensely satisfying about re-figuring out how to beat Shao Kahn after almost 20 years. And when you add a friend to the mix the fun increases exponentially. Mortal Kombat may be a weak fighter compared to other games, but it's one of the most fun multiplayer games around. "
