Nudity in MK8?

Ever since its creation, part of Mortal Kombat's appeal has been its controversial gore and realism. With almost every game offering an excess of gore nowadays however, Mortal Kombat's signature contraversy that caught the media's eyes, as well as those in the gaming community, had been lost, and thusly MK has lost a part of what has made it.
In MK after MK though, there has been a noticeable inclusion of more and more female characters with skimpier and sexier outfits. So is it too much to assume that MK8 will take the next step and include nudity? Not brief nudity as found in God of War, but nudity that is frequent and pushes the limits of its "M" rating and again draws attention to the MK series with media covered contraversy. I believe that the MK team has been dancing around the idea of nudity with the racier female costumes and renders such as "sexy mileena" in MKD in the past years, and with the oppurtunity for a darker and more serious MK, they will probably pursue such; and if they do plan to completely "recreate: MK, they probably will do so with little reserve.
In an early interview Boon was quoted saying, "I have a bunch of ideas on paper in terms of things that I’d like to theoretically try, but it’s not like it’s in a playable state yet. — We’re doing something with the next game that’s unbelievably unexpected, and there’s going to be an announcement. I totally was told, “You cannot talk about this thing.” I think it’s going to be rolled out."
Now of course this announcement would most likely not be about "nudity in MK", thats foolish and silly. But perhaps the announcement rolled out may include shocking detail that could include a hint of such. I personally doubt that the announcement Boon foreshadowed will include any such thing and I laugh at the idea, but I do not doubt the fact that there will most likely be nudity in MK8.

No.
Why do you insist on making it controversial instead agood game?
MK has and had no status, it is a game, and a meager one having far greater problems and rather than sugarcoating it with irrelevant stuff people should fix those problems.
..and not bring up idiotic content which is of no use.

Listen, I may like Kitana, but leave "MK Nude" to fan art.

Nudity has no place in video games, ever. As much as I love God of War, there was always that one black streak I found in it, and that was useless, gratuitous sexuality in a medium in which I find such content offensive.
Some argue that gaming violence is a worse issue, but I leave them to argue their case in an empty room. Nudity contributes less than nothing to video games, and Mortal Kombat would be no exception to this rule.

dude, don't ever EVER talk about God of War negitively... so what if there was nudity (even though im not intersted in that stuff becuase im straight) but thats what women wore back in those days and if you watched 300, the directors will tell you that women were mostly sluts during those times... so yeah, its featured in god of war becuase thats what they did... so shut up about god of war.
but to answer this guys question... WTF? first off, what's the point on featuring this in a game thats only about fighting? secondly, how will this work? just no...

I didn't speak negatively of God of War, I mentioned that there was a completely unnecessary and gratuitous element in the game that contributed absolutely nothing, but had the potential to offend players. I love the caps, by the way—I get the impression that as you typed that you were red in the face and mortally offended that someone would consider that even the great GoW could somehow fall short of heaven-sent perfection. With all due respect, that's sad.
I'm really not sure how you get off telling someone you've never met to shut up because he disagrees with nudity being an element of video games. Shallow children who talk trash behind Internet anonymity are a disgusting affront to humanity. Show a little more respect next time you talk to another human being, or at least comment on their post in context. It's pretty clear that I wasn't trashing God of War, but was merely commenting on a single aspect of it in relevance to the topic at hand.
Good day to you, sir.
I dont think Nudity in a game is bad, its a fact of life, and in some games this would make it feel more real. Like a shoot out seen in a strip club, if the girls weren't topless it wouldn't seem as real. But with that said, Nudity in a Mortal Kombat game...I just dont see how that would be useful unless it was for humor. Like a Nudality....which would make you laugh for a cheeze factor. So unless they would make something funny out of it, it wouldn't fit.
Hey, did you ever here the one about George Bush and Al Gore? They were both deeply concerned about the impact modern technology was having on children, but disagreed about the greatest threat to the innocence of sweet children.
George thought there was too much gore on tv, and Al thought there was too much bush on the internet.
Ah Hah! Get it?
Anyway, Mortal Kombat isn't just about killing people violently; it was about killing people creatively! If I want porn, I watch porn. When I want to satisfy suppresed bloodlust, I play Mortal Kombat.

I think the whole Sex VS Violence debate is hilarious. Other countries must look at us and laugh when it comes to our blatant fear of showing skin on TV. It's okay to have a movie where body parts are sawed off and bone is ripped through flesh and any other type of violence, or torture gore you could find, but show any private parts and all of a sudden a movie's in danger of an NC 17 rating and Wal-Mart won't sell it. I'm not saying that violence should be feared more or less in our society than nudity, but I think it's funny just how much less it's feared.
But anyways, as for MK8, I don't need to see polygon boobies bouncing around the screen. As I think everyone would agree, the real ones are better and well, real. MK doesn't need to shock anyone with nudity. It will always be the first real shocking video game in my eyes and that's a crown that no one can take away. Doing anything at this point to out shock the competition makes zero sense in this day and age. The MK team should be concentrating on making the best fighting game ever, and not concentrating on what the next big gimmick should be. It hasn't worked in the last few games and I doubt it would work now. To me, nudity would just be another gimmick, and as far as gimmicks go, that's a pretty low road to take.

Oh, my... is this, like, 20th thread based upon female nudity in MK?
It is likely that there will be nudity in next MK, you can't deny Mileena, Kitana, Sheeva (!?), Li Mei, or Nitara... were all nude. So, if the tradition has lasted since MK2, I don't think the next game will be exception. After all, Boon does try to satisfy all kinds of players: those who enjoy button-mashing, those who like professional play, those who are devoted to classy, nice story in games... AND those who enjoy nudity. "Give bread and games to the masses", said Caesar.

I apologize for getting your gender wrong, but statistics alone would imply that you're male, given that you're frequenting a forum for a violent video game series, quoting a metal band in your signature, and arguing with a poster who stated offense at female nudity being featured in yet another hideously gory video game. Given that we've had no personal interaction in the past and you reacted so strongly to one of my first posts here, there was no time to do my homework or peek up your online skirt and dodge that bullet.
To be blunt, it's quite silly to be offended by my mistaking you for a male under the circumstances. Would you rather I go around referencing everyone as females so that I don't offend any of the extreme minority among the hardcore gaming populace? I suppose I *could* remain gender-neutral in addressing other posters, but that's just not going to happen. I never was given to political correctness. I stand by my original remarks, nonetheless.
As an afterthought, it's nothing short of an act of sheer, unbridled stupidity to send me a PM "introducing yourself" and then tell me that if I respond you'll just delete the message. Then again, this is *exactly* the type of maturity I should expect from a ditzy high school kid whose greatest challenge in life is deciding which pair of Crocs look best with her three-inch-long miniskirt. Ditch the hormones and present yourself rationally or melt down your keyboard and drink it, honey. Thanks.

Nobody has responded to my comment about leaving nude MK characters to the fan art yet.

I don't even think it should go that far. The way I figure it, there's not a tremendous difference between the guy whacking off to cartoons (especially of non-human characters, good grief!) and the contenders for "Sex Offender of the Month" at your local penitentiary.

It's not nessesarry and mk won't get anything acomplished by doing this.

*bursts out laughing while falling off her chair*
dude, i'm a punk, a tomboy, and has a orgasmic feeling about greek mythology... statistics are only statistics, quoting a song doesn't always imply that i am a boy. talking about nakedness in a violent video game that really did happen during the time of greek and roman times doesn't always imply that i am a boy or a girl. trust me, there are people worse than me that get into it with this kind of stuff... but i don't understand why you need to make a three paragraph explaination about me making one little statement about not getting a good game involve with mk because gow and mk are two totally different things.
and dude, if i wore a three inch skirt, i would be suspended at my school with their strict clothing rules... i can't wear skirts right now because where i am at is freezing cold, mainly chicago, and i am in a marching band (in which you're probably going to mistake me as a boy again becuase i play snare drum as is the snare drum captain) but yet i have bigger things in life rather than arguing with you about gender problems and ditzyness which by the way that's not me, im more like a shy but yet fun person to hang around with kind of girl. but like im going to say and put an end to this before this thread gets closed because things are going off tempo here... you're making yourself even more of an ass by arguing about a stupid comment i made... don't judge things when you can't clearly understand their true emotions. i know for a fact that a computer cannot show feelings.

Do not even try to deny that part of Mortal Kombat's appeal in the past has been its controversial gore. Don't say that because you know its a falsity, the only reason Mortal Kombat thrived over Street Fighter was because of the attention it got for its gore. Mortal Kombat's up to MK4 got media coverage upon their release telling parents to not allow their kids to play that video game. Now don't tell me that doesn't scream appeal to the kids of the day. You may argue its appeal be in just your pure biased fan following, but you know that it was controversy that put MK on the map in its early days. Midway knows that. And I think everyone knows the controversy that nudity still poses in the video game world. Nudity in video games is not just "content", its a headline, its another huge news story warning kids to not play this game. So before you mindlessly dismiss this as a call to attention to what you find an immature idea, use your mind and actually reflect and maybe then you'll understand the impact such "idiotic content" could have on the MK franchise.

Firstly the fighting engine takes precedence over all. If they manage to cover that area then they can add nudity in MK8 if they wanted to. I feel that nudity is the next evolution in video games, not from a pornographic standpoint, but more of how real the game developers are able to makes their game characters look.
However here comes the hard part(no punt intended):
How will they integrate nudity without cheapening the game? Nudeality, Rapeality? Strip Kombat?
. Those probably wont be good ideas for a serious MK. The only possible acceptable way so far is clothing rip IMO. Other than that it probably wouldn't make sense for the MK characters to go around naked. After all the some of the MK girls and guys are 3/4 nude anyways.
Though it is an interesting idea, I feel in a serious MK fighter it probably wouldn't fit in so well, maybe in the next adventure title perhaps?

I think there's no need for the nudity. MK has established itself as a great game throughout the years and I feel that Midway need not resort to nudity to sell the game like hotcakes.

I deny nothing. I say that if MK wants to remain alive it needs attention on other dimensions first. MK was perhaps controversial for violence, but gore? perhaps it did reach a status of widespread recognition, but so did other games too...
And you honestly think that sexual innuendo is fitting for the overall idea of MK? If so then I recommend a japanese fighter game called Battle Raper, which is truly a state-of-the-art warning to those who still have gray cells.
