Well, I am really pleased to hear this! ALthough I didn't mind too much of the toned down fatalities. This game has much more to offer than finishers.

It's not good news to the USA fans though. That Joker fatality is one of the best we've seen so far from this game.

This has nothing to do with Ed Boon; the fault lies squarely on the ESRB not having proper age guidelines and having no median between Teen games (13+) and Mature games (17+). Remember that this is the same group that designates Adult Only games as 18+, because 1 year makes all the difference between being mature and an adult... Just like how a game can be rated E for everyone, but now they have a new rating between E and T, called "Everyone 10+"... Yes, the logic these guys have is brilliant.
If the ESRB had a higher age for Teen games, these edits wouldn't happen, but obviously nobody's making enough noise to implement it.
Good news for the European fans.

Had the game been M to begin with we wouldn't have had to worry about this.

This truly is the most divisive MK game ever. It's almost like Midway is TRYING to alienate and divide the fans instead of unifying them. Are you for the concept or not? Are you for the MK side or DC side? Are you satisfied with the familiar faces or disappointed in their fear of having newer characters? Are you content with a T rated MK or is it just not MK without its M rating? Do you get the heavily neutered US version or import the not-quite-as-neutered UK version?

Dammit all, why couldn't we just get the greatest, goriest MK game ever and avoid all this complete and utter farce of a fundraiser game.

Not surprising, but this has ignited some questions that could be asked at the fight night chat event.

Now I'm really wondering if this game will have worldwide online or not. If so, those with the UK version may be able to pick Joker, beat someone in the USA, and blow their heads off for all to see, while the US will only be able to perform the 13 year old version. If this is indeed the set up then I can see a plethora of online wars coming.

Some common sense:

If you're going to buy a game, you should generally know what it's about and it's level of intensity. Even if you're a soccer mom and have no clue about the plot/style of game, the front cover should give you an idea. Pastel covers and cell-shading are safe for little Timmy. Blood and rust with a scared-looking blonde woman may give little Timmy nightmares.

Mortal Kombat is the original violent video game. Man. If I were a parent, I'd do some research before I'd buy a game.

*sigh* This sucks for us American fans. Even though it isn't a huge game-altering difference, it's just enough to piss me off.

Boon, the next MK better be bloody and crazy as hell to make up for this shit.
