in the ps2 version of mk1, i have never seen a shadow across the moon. the game's been out for 4 years, and i have never once, after thousands of plays, had a shadow ofthis version of mk1 below anything pass in front of the moon. i've made it to the pit countless times without continuing, and still nothing. anyone else had this problem? in the arcade, genesis, and snes versions, i've fought reptile many times. i know there's no shadow in the snes version needed to fight him, but it's weird in the endless time i've played it, no sign of reptile being there. also, i've never him pop out with a clue either. is this version below 3.0, or what? or am i just unlucky?

you don't need to use shadows to challenge Reptile. You must get a double flawless victories and then do a fatality.
You can fight Reptile in that version insidious_t, but you have to play over 40 matches without quitting the game. That's because a shadow flies over the moon every 8 cycles of stages. And since The Courtyard is always the first, count that background 8 times and next time The Pit shows up, something will glide over the moon. That's your chance. Also, keep in mind that those all fights don't have to be successive and you can use continues during the cycles.
The only version that don't require the shadows flying over the moon is the SNES one. Other versions DO require that.

thanks. that makes sense. i usually turned the game off after seeing an ending or two, so that's why i haven't seen any shadows. thanks for the help.

thats actually not true, the revision in the bonus disk is 4.0 or later, because you cant do the infinite juggles you could in revision 3.0
you have the reptile clues and 2players options in both ps2 and xbox versions.

Actually, THAT isn't true

Me neither (MAT included). And I've played the game for a long time. Once, I've played a couple of hundred fights without turning the game off. During that session I've fought Reptile many times and I've seen every possible object gliding over the moon. However, the green ninja hasn't appeared with a clue even once! So psykosonik, have you ever seen him doing that in the said version of MK1?
Second of, in 4.0 they allowed using Block during Fatalities, so you could fight Reptile with Sonya. But in the bonus disc/MAT version you can't have the lady fighting at the bottom of The Pit, exactly because of the Block.
So it looks more like a revision 3.0 to me, even though they patched the gameplay. But it would probably be safer to assume that it's not the perfect port of one particular arcade revision, but just another version prepared for that special occasion.

they patched gameplay but forgot to fix reptile stuff... plus i played both versions, and reptile gived me clues in 2 players ps2 game. i havent played that much the xbox version.
when i have some free time to waste i will cap clip of it from the ps2 version, since i dont have xbox anymore.

Reptile's not playable in any version of MK1.
Anyway, I think the thread has served its purpose, so I'll just close it.
