Hector posted this on Twitter a few hours ago, I didn't see anyone else post it yet but I could be wrong. Apparently the second song on this video is Reptile's song from the coming album.

It starts at about 2:00

Hmm... are we finally going to see more good things from Reptile or just continue seeing videos of him getting his ass handed by everyone?

I don't think this video and the marketing department are linked in any way. I like the beat a lot. Trust me, Reptile will get plenty of love from me when the game is out!grin Did I just say that?wow

Yeah I saw that! Skrillex is awesome, the preview sounds so SICK! I love the toasty at the end. Might be my favorite theme, I need this shit in HQ.
"Who Plays Mortal Kombat?!"
And
"..My Boy Reptile!"

I probably shouldn't but I lol'd

Reptile sounds good...sort of Too early to tell . I prefer the Reptile techno song from Mortal Kombat just a little bit more.

Holy Damn! That boy always gets hot tracks. This is a great successor to Traci Lords feat. Juno Reactor's "Control".

But what's up with the usage of "Toasty", that's Scorpion's thing! furious

I'm a bit disappointed that so far it looks like the whole album is techno/trance/club music. It's a very droning, boring genre of music, I find. I liked the Immortals stuff because their songs didn't drone on, they had, y'know, clearly identifiable choruses and bridges and so on. Some sort of rock or metal would have been preferable too.
In fact, the songs should all be a different genre appropriate to the character, something that actually feels like it's about the character or fits their personality, and isn't just background noise. Like Scorpion's from Hell and is all about rage, so his theme should be something very heavy. Liu Kang's a Chinese monk, his theme should've been played on actual Chinese musical instruments or, if you want to reference the Bruce Lee thing, could've been a cross between Asian instruments and a funky 70's beat like the theme of Enter the Dragon.

Lyrics aren't a bad idea either. The ones in the original songs were cheesy as hell, sure (though I will defend Chinese Ninja Warrior to the death, and I've also always kinda liked Kano's song for sounding like the theme to a Bond movie...) but there's nothing inherently wrong with the idea of having them.

Look up "tip eht fo mottob" by Shael Riley and the Double Ice Backfire for a great example of a song about Reptile with good lyrics.

Good to read something new of Reptile for a change. I'm going to listen to the themes when we have gotten them all though.

The majority of the tracks on the Immortals album *are* pure techno (only like 3 can be considered House), this is not. This soundtrack is made up of tracks of varying ~underground~ club genres.

However, what's wrong with a song without lyrics? It's not like lyrics would really fit some of them without either downplaying the instrumental or downplaying the lyrics.

Seriously, I hope they give us the option to play characters themes during fights...like in SF4 and MvC3.

The fact that the strategy guide includes interviews with the artists makes me think they'll be included somewhere in the game!

It does? Hmm...I also wonder what the exclusive theme would be and how they'd be shipping it. I assume that a weblink or an access code for iTunes or w/e would be suffice, no?

I like it.

I'm not too sure about those "rap/hip hop" vocals (yo yo yo), but I think those aren't actually part of the song.

Sounds nice.

I like techno/trance/club music.

So far, all these new songs exceed in quality the ones from the Immortals, imo.

However, I will agree with everything else you said. I'd love some drastic variety featuring different musical styles that fit the characters attitudes and personalities.

For example:

1) Throw in a very beautiful piano ballad for Sindel (or Kitana? or Jade?).
2) Songs with lyrics and great choruses that are not cheesy or corny as hell can work. But seriously, they've got to be good quality lyrics and not just idiotic cheesy stuff.

I wouldn't mind hearing some angelic voice (Amy Lee, Evanescence) singing something tragic, soft, and gothic-like in her own style for a character like Jade, Kitana, or Sindel, for example.

Oh, please no rap/hip hop. I just don't see this working in MK...at all.

Ballads in MK would be awkward.

The closest ballad that fit in with MK was this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nLpC2Wo3QVc

This sounds okay to me. I still prefer Mileena's over all of them, that track is perfection but this is good - well it is if it's just the instrumental without those......"vocals" ...... - so much second hand embarrassment for that dude.
