Quan's render is the same one made for MK vs DCU
Could this be the reason he is still wearing the Amulet?

Yes, NRS is lazy.

Oh snap, how dare you call NRS lazy! You've started a shitstorm now!

I still don't understand it. This better get explained.

He looks great IMO, but why the fuck does he have the amulet and tattoos?
That's just stupid. My only real disappointment of MK2011 so far.

to my recollection he's had the amulet sense before MK1 and gave Shinnok a fake. the tattoos may be explained in story mode.

I like the look but I'm hoping for an explanation.
Right now though, it just seems like a huge continuity error.

I would have preferred an updated MK4 look rather than this, without the tattoos and without the amulet. However, it seems like NRS is set on having Quan Chi keeping this look from now on.
I didn't want him to be in this game in the first place, rather than maybe being some background character. He's more or less taken over Shang Tsung's role which is a pity, because Shang Tsung had a specific role in the first three games - Shao Kahn's advisor and main sorcerer. And now Quan Chi is screwing that up.
I'm not saying anything specific, as that would be spoiling the storyline...

Explanation: Turns out Modern Quan Chi is a tattoo enthusiast, so now instead of spontaneously tattooing himself one time out of nowhere he's been tattooing himself throughout his entire career in sorcery.

Why do you keep making excuses for NRS?
I don't understand.
Can't we just a fuckup what it is - a fuckup?

Oy, as much as I'm still looking forward to this game, I agree with Rex.
Plus Fenix is becoming annoying as hell.

Your explanation that its a fuck up is just as plausable as mine that it isn't. The only proof you have is its what you believe.
NRS dicked with their characters because they thought they looked better this way, there is that good enough for you?

Didn't he gain the Amulet in MKM:SZ? I understand that the tattoos are an obvious screw up but I don't understand why the amulet is a problem. (except that he's pretty much announcing to everyone that he has it)

If I have to, I could see past this. This game is a remake after all.

I really love NRS for this. Makes me laugh.

Really. Don't let tiny things hurt what could be a great experience for you. I mean really. Hair, eye color and accessories should not be the breaking point of something for you. Especially when this game has so much casual and tournament potential.

*sigh*
...It's the tiny things that made MK great before. And it's the lack of attention to these tiny things that chips away at what could've been a great experience until it becomes obvious the creators themselves just don't give a shit.

So if Batman suddenly started wearing a fucking Superman logo on his chest and wore a bright red cape for no fucking reason at all, would that be a breaking point for you? Would you at least get annoyed and ask yourself "what the fuck were they thinking?"
Just a little,maybe?

No.
Quani Chi wearing something he has actually wore before, but is slightly off in continuity and Batman wearing Clark Kent's get up for no particular reason at all is not the same thing. Straw man arguments don't work.

Rex, don't let the "I'm positive about everything, I can't believe you have a critical eye" ones get to you. That's just all coming from excitement and hype because the game hasn't come out yet. The same excitement and hype and people who refused to hear any negative words preceded EVERY game...except maybe vs DCU because most of the fanbase didn't get past the premise.
There's 80 to a hundred people on the board right now...and almost all those people are here because all they wanna talk about is how excited they are for April 19th. That's inevitably going to bleed into every thread where someone isn't happy with an aspect of the game.
And what happens years later when they look back at those same games? You hear a lot more reasonable analyses of the flaws/virtues of Shaolin Monks, you hear almost nothing but negativity towards MK4 thru Armageddon...Hell, there are still a huge number of people in the world who hold the opinion that MK2 was the best Mortal Kombat game...and those people react to every single new game coming out with "This'll be the one! This looks like my new favorite!" And after the game comes out, they go right back to "MK2 was the best in the series."
Give it a year or two, the fanbase will be sane and capable of entertaining actual criticism again without people jumping down your throat for caring about details.
