Ed Boon discusses the Wii U and Mortal Kombat possibility!

NetherRealm Studios Creative Director and Co-Creator of Mortal Kombat, Ed Boon sat down and discussed his interest in the upcoming Nintendo, Wii U with Gametrailers:

“When thinking about the Wii U and controller, I would like to think we will do something innovative and cool. We are all very excited. Whenever there is new hardware we start to think on a bigger scale. When you see that screen and controller in there, to me things start connecting in terms of what we can do with our game, enhancing the experience.”

Wii U and MK in the future maybe?

This wouldn't be the first time Mortal Kombat has platformed over, the Wii U's predcessor the Wii had a port of MK: Armageddon on it which included much demanded kombatant Khameleon who was omitted from the Xbox and Playstation 2 versions. Whilst this doesn't confirm that we will see a Mortal Kombat title on the Wii U, feel contented that interest is being expressed from NetherRealm Studios.

The Wii U is an upcoming Next-Generation console featuring Full-HD graphics, a revolutionary touch-integrated controller and precision motion controls amongst other innovative specifications. More news on this story once it becomes available!

I'd be interested in this. Nintendo systems have gotten the shaft on the last couple of games due to processing power, so it'd be nice to see one again.

Competitive fighting games without a solid and precise form of control are garbage. Gimmicks won't work for this time of game.

As a Nintendo fanboy I hope it does come to the WiiU.

True, but I suspect they'll have a classic controller option available as well.

Every fighter on the WIi had a classic option to acccompany the gimmicky controller format, which was terrific.

That console looks like such a piece of shit. The novelty of the Wii is done. So glad Microsoft and Sony aren't following Nintendo down the "revolutionary" road and putting in features that will just be annoying and frustrating,e specially when trying to play a proper console game.

Sure, motion controls and a stylus pen might work for some kiddy or party game. But those controls will make more "classic" styles of gaming very difficult or frustrating.

Will not be buying one, nosirree

Let me guess. Those jack asses in Chicago are going to give Wii Users Khameleon? Or some other cool exclusive shit the rest of us NORMAL gamers won't get our hands on (again).

This post is so funny considering how untrue and biased it is.

It sounds cool but I doubt I'm going to buy it. I mean, why would I if I already have the game for the PS3? I'd get it if it was an all new game or it had so many extra features that it felt like a new game, but I see no reason to otherwise.

LOL.

Well, it *isn't* without precedent...
I'm sure this version, and the PS Vita version, will also include the DLC characters from the get-go.

I still want a 3DS version more than either of those...

OMG Khameleon!!!

LOL, I hope they do release it on WiiU and put her in there...but not as an exclusive. She should be on disc on the WiiU edition and DLC for the other two systems.

Biased? Biased to who? Sony and Microsoft?

Sunshine, I own a wii. I own every nintendo console from SNES onwards. And I still have my game boys. Just because I don't worship at the altar of nintendo does not a bias make.

The wii in itself irritates me beyond belief. It's fun for a drunken party or someone like my mum, but let's compare, say, Resident Evil 4. On PS2 it was one of my favourite games.... on Wii, it stank (though was the best of a bad lot). These "revolutionary" features distract from making a decent game, with all but a few exceptions (Mario Galaxy for example).

So come on. Let's see what my bias is, hey?

RE: A dumbed down game for a dumb-dumbs console.

Sounds about right to me -- Simple Mode X-rays, a super meter that rewards the 'loser', a roster that all play so similarly that if you master one rote-repetitive character you can pretty much own with all... a Nintendo console would make an appropriate format for MK in future.

One thing's for sure, hardcore fight gamers will never look at MK again (assuming they even did this time around); so MK won't be missed if it does make a transition to the casualware console. In fact, it would be right at home.

More MKvDCUs FTW!

There's always Kratos.

Spoilers: (Highlight to reveal)
But seriously, keeping Khameleon or other MK related kontent as console exclusive is bullshit.

They planned on putting an Endurance Mode in the game, and if it makes it to the Wii U version[if that happens], I will despise those so called devs even more.

I'm so sick of console exclusives though, if the WII U version does get Khameleon, she needs to be DLC for PS3 and Xbox.
