The multiplayer component for Dead Sun is still being released which is ridiculous. I would have loved to have seen The Dark Prophecy see the light of day.

Part of me loves the idea of new games that embellish the Legacy of Kain world and story, part of me thinks it's for the best that it be finished.
Part of me also likes the idea of seeing Chakan in a new, more palatable context. Particularly if it managed to weave into some of the other stuff.

Same here.
I may get lashed upon, but I just have a feeling that this series is underrated. A lot of people that I talk about this game has never heard about it. They do play video games, it's not like they don't but it's weird that they've never heard about this series.
That or, it's just probably the people I talk to. They're huge Final Fantasy nuts...

Superbot was stupid for not putting Raziel in Playstation All-Stars.
Though I love the LoK series, I never really got the bad taste of Soul Reaver 2 out of my mouth. Though I appreciate the later games from a story-telling angle, nothing every captured the atmosphere and architecture of the first Soul Reaver.

His IP holders straight out said no to his inclusion in All-Stars. But if there is a sequel I think it's more likely we'll see him in there.

Really? Did they say why? I mean, it's not like they've done ANYTHING noteworthy with the character in almost ten years. Do they want the gaming realm to forget about him?
All my gripes with the latter LoK games aside, I really do miss Raziel. A lot.

No. Somebody asked them on Twitter whether Raz would be in All-Stars. This was before the game was released, around 4 months before release. They responded "We do not have plans to use Legacy of Kain in All-Stars. Sorry."
Not sure why. I consider it a lost opportunity.
I'm actually glad they kept Legacy of Kain out of that game. Sure there's tons to work with both Raziel and Kain, but I really didn't want to see them after thinking heavily upon it when I got the game.
But I will say... Raziel is a name I used for one of my characters I got for a story. He a Nercomancer... and a damn good one too. And I eh... kinda designed him based on Raziel's look, but he's got a jaw. Just his um... figure and such. How much of a fan I am to the game.

The problem is that the Legacy of Kain series is as a whole closed.
And not even additional stuff could be added to it, thanks to the (not exactly completed) ending of Defiance.
Kain relinquishes the Soul Reaver back at Avernus cathedral after the defeat of the Elder God. Thus the younger Kain can find it days later and battle Azimuth the planer, and eventually the Unspoken.
After that the intentional message was that he returns to the future which has been set on a more appropriate path.
Well, unless the adventure would be independent from the original games, maybe. But no Raziel, as he is being driven insane by the weapon.

Plus didn't majority of the voice actors did not want to do another game? I cannot remember where I read that, but I recall seeing something about how I think all but Simon Templeman did not want to do another.

I know Tony Jay died. Since when does Micheal Bell or Simon Templeman turn down work?
There's I guess some tweet saying that Simon won't reprise his role as Kain, which is shocking because as I'm trying to recall that one article, he was the only one that actually wanted to keep on doing Kain's voice as the others didn't want to reutrn, one of which was Michael Bell. I am trying really hard to find that article because it was an interesting find and to read as well. And yeah it did exist but... Just can't find it.

I would've loved to have seen Dark Prophecy or Dead Sun. It seemed like the people behind those games had a good amount of respect for the past as well as a good vision for what the future could hold.
I do think it's a bit weird that Dead Sun would create a new protagonist in that world and have only limited ties to the past of the series (ie the entire series). I guess that whole part was vague as to how it would work.
Still though, it's honestly pretty amazing how much politics played a role in this series and how some of the games basically wound up as smashed together visions of other games. I knew that a little bit with regard to Blood Omen 2, but I guess that I never really knew to what extent they'd done this.
Explains a lot.
It also explains why Soul Reaver is so completely different from the first Blood Omen. I always thought that was really strange, but just assumed that they changed the style because the overhead, zelda style was a bit to last gen and that Tomb Raider style was more modern. Again, explains a lot.
I do think that the whole story has been told, but it would be interesting to have a new character that can some how draw some of the old characters out, provided the story was one worth telling.
I know that tends to be a stereotypical American "give them more until they don't want it anymore" kind of entertainment model, but I do think that this is a world and with a style and mythos that could lend itself to more characters, more history, etc. Could it stand on its own two feet without Kain as the focus? It would'nt be easy, and I actually don't blame Square Enix from shying away, though why the multiplayer component still exists as some sort of windows download title...

Boy am I ever happy Dead Sun didn't happen because that story sounds really freaking stupid. I mean right up there with Blood Omen 2 bad.
Vampires have evolved and are back to being blue but now feed on souls and can shift between the spectral and physical realm?
A human trapped in a vampires body which raises all kinds of what the stupid fuck...
And the gameplay, you lost me at cinematic. (just sounded like they were trying to be God of War)
If that's the best they can do for a sequel to Defiance then...no thanks, just leave it alone.
