Mortal Kombat X has officially launched! The 2015 fighter was unveiled via Twitter this morning with a launch trailer and press release combo. Thanks to Warner Brothers & NetherRealm Studios - we've also received what is purportedly the first look at box art!

Final Box Art: June 16 Update Confirms the Final Look Coming to Shelves.

No word on whether this is the final art, or just one of multiple versions that will eventuate come the 2015 release. Click to enlarge the cover and take a closer look at the details of Scorpion's new design!

Update (Jun. 16): The word is out - this is indeed the final box art. New image released above. No update on alternate editions at this stage.

Mortal Kombat X is coming to PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, Xbox One, Xbox 360 & PC. The game will be featured at next week's Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3). Register to join the discussion & speculation on the new MKX forum!

FUCKING SICK.

Best Scorpion design yet. Finally have some top notch character artists on this game.

The detail!!! I could stare at that for hours. So much going on. You can see the individual god damned threads of the yellow vest going into the other part and all the little frayed edges.

That mask. GAAAWWWWD. Very modern MK2.

If they have character models like this for everyone, shit is gonna get REAL.

Unreal, that is. Unreal Engine 4, baby.

It's a nice image and Scorpion's design is great. Maybe on the boring side for some, but I have no problem with this boxart if it ends up final. I like it more than MK9's.

I hate Scorpion... But I've come to terms with him being the MK mascot. He's in NRS' company logo, for crying out loud. We aren't going to get around it, Scorpion is the main man. Just accept it, because you aren't going to get your way otherwise.

After all, "Big Trouble In Little China" was a direct inspiration, and the tone of that film directly related to MK.

MK is NEVER EVER getting rid of the comedy aspect. Ed Boon himself is such a clown that he could never let that happen. You're gonna judge the whole tone of the game off of a cover and a trailer?
