Id like to see at least 36. 28 on disc n.8 dlc. Im buying every kharacter that comes out regardless cuz this game looks awesome n I like supporting good companies. I HATE cheap ppl who get pissy about dlc saying developers r beingcheap. I.guess ppl fforget how many millions of dollars it takes to make a game, hell destiny.needs to sell 15 million just to break even, thats nuts

Hmm, let's see...
About 30 character on the main roster would be nice. And those from MK9 who don't get onto the main roster would be cool to get as DLC.
However, I'm not going to pay for something I don't want. If they add some DLC that I don't want, then it would be simply stupid to spend money on it.

That is self-evident. Youre are stating the obvious.
I do not know, about the same amount of people would be nice, I wonder how much the three variation system will spice things up. I hope each variation plays radically different.

Well, apparently not, since the OP seems to imply that if you don't buy all the DLC whether you like it or not, then you're being cheap and unsupportive of NRS. :/

I hope for 30 excluding the DLC.

30 in the initial roster and 6 more with DLC.

I'm saying 36 because I believe that the 2 rows of 12 we see will be upgraded to 3 rows 12. Boon already said at LEAST as many as the last game. So, I say 30 main roster. 6 DLC.
I would like 24 characters in the main game and 4 characters as DLC. I think anything over 24 characters in the main game would be overkill. I like to see every character properly fleshed out with each variation. That is going to be extremely difficult to balance. Each character has a part to play in story mode as well with many involved substantially now that NRS has the freedom to choose which characters make it into the game.

^I'd be happy enough with 24 main plus 4 DLC as well. DA and D had 23 and 24 characters in their core games and that was more than enough IMO. I prefer fighters with a slightly more pared down roster. I wouldn't object to an old super unlockable or two though.

Well i hate a game being deliberately incomplete at the point of sale just so the consumers are forced into buying more for a complete experience.
MKDA's secret characters were unlockable through completing Konquest mode.
MK9's newer characters were unlockable by spending more. It feels like a cheap rip-off to me, especially since no, i don't think i forgot it takes a lot of money to develop a game, did you forget how much new games cost in the shops?? £30-£40 is not a small amount of money for a luxury item considering the cost of living versus how much people are paid (if anything).
God, why does my experience have to be tarred by having to wait for a "complete edition" of a thing, why is nothing sold as complete anymore? You wouldn't buy a book that is deliberately unfinished and then pay extra for a few more chapters 4 months down the line, would you?
I am not saying that the devs are even the ones making this kind of decision. It's the way the market works now because it has been allowed to grow into this greed-factory monstrosity by so-called "convenient" up-grades.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YgOvG272zOg for squirrely wisdom on the subject.
Anyway, as for answering the topic thread title, i'm going to go ahead and say AS MANY AS POSSIBLE. The MK universe is so full of chars at this point it's really unfeasable to cram them all in to one game, but it is always a shame when someone gets cut. More is better. I LIKED MKA a ton.

I'm on board with 24 in the initial roster and 6 DLC. Reason for 6 is because so we can have four from MK and the other two will be for the two guest characters.

Main roster 40 characters and 10 dlc characters.

31 for main roster is too much. 11 DLC? I doubt it.
24 plus 6 DLC for 30 is more ideally.

Hey, the question was "How many characters do you WANT?" not "How many do you think will be in it?", so if there are people who want 40 main and 10 DLC, then that is what they want. They might not get it, but that's not the point of this thread, so please don't talk down at those you think are overestimating the roster count.

36 sounds like a good number, but I won't complain if we get more!! Just as long as a healthy amount are new characters and POST mk3 era characters.
I'll probably buy every dlc character too just because I love MK.

Given the variations, new strings for every character in every game and all the balancing, I think that anybody wanting more than 30+DLC is simply not being realistic with their development window.
24 + DLC.
Story mode closure/cameos for the rest.

Yeah that was my guess. Although they did say they're ahead of schedule so we might be in for a few surprises.
Well, given that Boon did mention the roster would be as large as MK9's, at the very least, and since MK9's roster was 27 (or 31 with DLC, and not counting the PS3 exclusive Kratos), logic would dictate that roster will likely be around 27-30, with 5 DLC characters.
And that's what I'd like to see.
That puts the roster at a full 32-35 with DLC included, and if Injustice showed us anything, we can expect a copious level of DLC from NRS this time for MKX, both in terms of characters and alt costumes. So probably err on the side of 33-34 when all is said and done.
Which isn't anything to sneeze at, nor is it overwhelming.
Seems just right, imho.

26-30 for the initial roster and no more than 6 dlc characters. Anything beyond that is overkill in my opinion, so that leaves it at 36. With 3-variations per character, there is going to be so much variety, not to mention a huge learning curve for competitive players (MKX tourney's at EVO will be amazing!).
One thing I don't want is NRS to drag out the dlc for too long. A few rounds of dlc, then a "Komplete" edition like MK9 and Injustice is perfect. I just don't want the studio pulling a Capcom by releasing periodical updates over a six year period (like with Street Fighter 4) instead of working on the next proper installment in the franchise. NRS has never had a problem with this though, so I'm not too concerned about it.

I want 28-30 chars on disc. And I want way more than 4 damn dlc characters. I want four chars every quarter. And I will buy all of them. Not because I necessarily will play as all of them, but I like completeness. I also like having all possible chars available so when I have friends playing the game there are more options for them.
