New stream stuff! Character dialogue, fatalities and alt costumes (UPDATED)

According to the guys at NetherRealm in Twitch right now, we may have already seen some alternate costumes that we assumed were mains.

Speculation time, but I'm calling Kung Lao is an alt.

Who else do you guys think is an alt?


PLUS.
Sounded like Scorpion said he can "Sense Shao Kahn's soul" in his match with Ermac, but I'm not sure as it is pretty quiet. What did YOU guys hear? Leave it below, if you're excited than let's get the hype train moving some more!

Also... ERMAC CAN FLY. And in one of his fatalities, he kills you with your own head.... nice.


ALSO! I'm going to try and get all the dialogue posted here, will be posting all that I catch. EDIT: Not sure if it was just my tablet but I found it extremely hard to make out most of the dialogues...

ANY NEWS YOU GUYS CAUGHT LEAVE IT BELOW AND I'LL EDIT IT IN!

Ermac vs Sub-Zero:

Ermac: Sub-Zero...
Sub-Zero: Shao Kahn is gone...you're free
Ermac: Come feel his presence

And:

Sub Zero: Ermac...
Ermac: Your soul is corrupted... (or something like that)
Sub Zero: Not corrupted, freed!


Sub-Zero: How many souls do you harbor?
Ermac: We wield them by the thousands...
Sub-Zero: Yet you have no heart.

Ermac vs Kotal Khan:

Kotal: I thought us allies, Ermac.
Ermac: We will depose the Emperor.
Kotal: Now, you will will perish.


Kung Lao vs Kotal Khan:

Kotal: What is the meaning of this?!
Kung Lao: Must everything have meaning?
Kotal: I will KILL you for sport!


Kotal: What is the meaning of this?
Kung Lao: Must everything have meaning?
Kotal: I will kill you for sport.


Scorpion vs Ermac:

Scorpion: I sense Shao Kahn in you.
Ermac: Our creator is part of us.
Scorpion: I will remove him.


Ermac vs Kotal Khan:

Kotal Kahn: I thought us allies, Ermac.
Ermac: We will oppose the emperor.
Kotal Kahn: Now you will perish.


Kung Lao vs Quan Chi:

Kung Lao: Quan Chi.
Quan Chi: Enjoy your last breaths.
Kung Lao: I have prevailed before, demon.


Kung Lao vs Kano:

Kano: I love a good hat.
Kung Lao: Do not provoke a Shaolin.
Kano: Do you toss your shoes as well?


Kung Lao vs Raiden:

Raiden: Kung Lao.
Kung Lao: Forgive me, Lord Raiden.
Raiden: I forgive your impending failure.


Kung Lao vs Ermac:

Kung Lao: Does your mind remember?
Ermac: All since our creation.
Kung Lao: Then you will remember this.

I heard the same regarding Kahn's soul in Ermac, unless I misheard. If true, that makes things very interesting regarding the story line.

Also one of the other intros:

Sub Zero: Ermac
Ermac: Your soul is corrupted (or something like that)
Sub Zero: Not corrupted, freed!

Idk, toss up between Bi Han and Kuai Liang.

Yeah as far as the alternates, my first thought was Kung Lao as well. Maybe the default costume is the younger versions of the characters, with alternates showing them aged?

I didn't get that vibe at all. I think they mean like maybe Sub-Zeros costume that he's using now is his alt as Bi-Han and his main will be Kuai. IDK though

I think it has to do with Quan Chi's Revenant. Of course Kitana and Kung Lao will be among those and it wouldn't be inconceivable to say that they'll have some evil look to show that.

Maybe they didn't want to reveal those outfits yet in order to avoid story spoilers, even though it's sort of expected.

My guess is that one of the characters is in their alternate costume because their primary one would be a spoiler for something related to the story. For example, Sub-Zero's primary might make it obvious of who he's actually supposed to be so they've been using his alt ever since the get go.

I dunno, it would be the perfect way to show off some characters without giving out story details ahead of time.

Imagine Kitana and Kung Lao starting the game as revenants with unique costumes making them appear as evil characters but are at some point freed from Quan Chi. Sub-Zero (whoever he is) starting in some other form.

All in all, they answered the question and gave us something to think about.

nah he didn't mean variations, he said only some of the characters are in their alternate costume. the light grey slot is probably goro.

They did say in the stream that everything in the game is still a work in progress so I'm sure we're going to get a spiffier (and hopefully expanded) character select screen.
