RE: Black Lightnings getting a new series.

He'd be a good new addition, but I'd personally prefer either one of his daughters, Thunder and Lightning, Thunder especially. Maybe we can them all as alts for one another, like we had the John Stewart GL as an alt for the regular GL.

FOX automatically sets expectations lower than low, but here's hoping for the best!

RE: Black Lightnings getting a new series.

- ‘Black Lightning’ Drama Eyes Move To the CW To Join Greg Berlanti Comic Lineup

EXCLUSIVE: Lightning may strike three times, with a third Greg Berlanti-produced comic book series developed/launched at another network heading to the CW.

I’ve learned that Black Lightning, the high-profile drama based on the DC character, which had a big production commitment at Fox, is on the move and likely to land at the CW. The project comes from Greg Berlanti, king of the CW’s DC universe, The Game and Being Mary Jane creator Mara Brock Akil and her husband Salim Akil. Discussions are still underway but I hear the drama would likely get a pilot order.

This is a swift turnaround for the project, which was shopped to other networks by Warner Bros. TV immediately after Fox opted not to go to pilot, with the CW emerging as the likely new home. I hear Fox brass ultimately decided that the superhero show was not a good fit into its already crowded genre drama space that includes the DC/WBTV series Gotham and Lucifer, Seth MacFarlane’s upcoming space dramedy, and two pilots, the X-Men-themed drama written by Matt Nix and The Passage, all from 20th TV.

Ehhhhhh... If you like what The CW is doing, this is good news.

RE: Black Lightnings getting a new series.

- REPORT: Black Lightning Character Breakdown, Synopsis Revealed

Spoilers: (Highlight to reveal)
What follows are four character breakdowns for Black Lightning’s alter ego Jefferson Pierce, his two daughters, and ex-wife:

JEFFERSON PIERCE: “Male, African-American, late 30s to 50. Handsome, fit, with an athletic build. Former 3-time gold medal decathlon winner who is now principal of a high school in South Central Los Angeles. A father figure to his student and hero to the local community. JEFFERSON is charming, charismatic, smart, and has both warmth and humor. He is devoted to his two daughters and remains deeply in love with his ex-wife LYNN. He also has a great passion for justice and a quick temper that he has spent years learning how to control. Think Idris Elba. LEAD.
JENNIFER: Female. African-American, LEGAL 18 to play 16. JEFFERSON’s younger daughter. JENNIFER is a scholar athlete; beautiful with a lean, athletic runner’s build. She is the entitled feminist of the Pierce family. Independent and outspoken with a wild streak. SERIES REGUALR, ASP.
ANISSA: Female. African-American, to play 22. JEFFERSON’s elder daughter. Beautiful, quick-witted and intelligent; intense and passionate. ANISSA has a great respect for her father. ANISA balances the demands of medical school with her duties as a part time teacher at JEFFERSON’s school. SERIES REGULAR, ASP.
LYNN: Female, African-American, mid 30s to 50. Exudes confidence and intelligence. Beautiful, but not to be trifled with. Can exhibit both great emotional depth as well as a flirtatious, mischievous side. SERIES REGULAR, ASP.”

Fans of the comics will recognize Jefferson’s daughters as the teen superheroes Lightning (Jennifer) and Thunder (Anissa). One can assume that we could see them suit up to join their heroic father should The CW charge ahead with a full series.

Below is the series synopsis:

Black Lightning centers on Jefferson Pierce. He made his choice: He hung up the suit and his secret identity years ago, but with a daughter hellbent on justice and a star student being recruited by a local gang, he’ll be pulled back into the fight as the wanted vigilante and DC legend Black Lightning.

Here's for wishful hoping the series becomes a success.

Tony Isabella(Black Lightning's creator) & DC has came together on good terms again. Even though his chances of even being playable are slim to none.

RE: Black Lightnings getting a new series.

- 'Black Lightning,' 'Life Sentence' Land CW Series Pickups; 'Originals,' 'iZombie' Renewed

The CW has firmed up the rest of its 2017-18 schedule, giving renewals to bubble shows The Originals and iZombie, while also handing out series pickups to DC Comics drama Black Lightning and dramedy Life Sentence.

DC Comics take Black Lightning, originally developed at Fox, brings Hart of Dixie grad Cress Williams back to the network to take on the role of Jefferson Pierce, the hero who he hung up his suit and his secret identity years ago. But with a daughter hell-bent on justice and a star student being recruited by a local gang, he’ll be pulled back into the fight as the wanted vigilante and DC legend — Black Lightning.

The project, sources note, will likely bow in midseason, given that only a short pilot presentation was filmed. The series marks the first drama to stem from The Game alums Salim Akil and Mara Brock Akil, who penned the pilot, via their overall deal with producers Warner Bros. Television. The duo executive produce alongside studio-based Greg Berlanti and his Greg Berlanti Productions topper Sarah Schechter. Black Lightning joins a roster of DC Comics-themed dramas at The CW that also includes previously renewed The Flash, Arrow, Supergirl, Legends of Tomorrow and Riverdale — all produced by Berlanti. Nafessa Williams, China Anne McClain and Christine Adams co-star.

Costume's okay. Not sure how I feel about the generational angle.
