EGM from about the time MK:DA came out. In it Boon says there is stuff from MK2 nobody has found yet. Wonder what they could be? Play as SMOKE, JADE, NOOB and Bosses?

There are no secrets left to find in any MK game, from MK1, through Deception, and a month after Shaolin Monks comes out, you can throw that on the list too.

Yeah, I guess it's better to keep these discussions to a minimum... because, you know, some people on here think they know a bit more about the Classic MKs than Ed Boon himself. If he says there are things people have yet to have found, then I think I believe the Co-creator of the game; but that's just me.
Peace.

it would be more believable if there was a link to where this interview was.

I think it would be more believeable if we didn't already know he does stuff like that just to generate hype.

I am pretty sure all the secrets have been found. There are a bunch of rumors out there though that people believe to be in the game.

1.Hornbuckle (USA'ed out version of Liu Kang)
2.The hooks in the dead pool can be used as weapons
3.Win Flawless each round to the end to fight the keebler elves in the living forest
4.Fight fire dude in Pit II
5.Ermac

Don't know if you heard any of those but those are some rumors that I remember fondly from 11 years ago lol.

The hooks fatality be came a "Reality" when they hacked it in. You wouldn't get hung up on them like Baraka's impale or anything, but the character would get stuck on the hooks. I don't know if this is one of those legit hacks, or just a mame hack, but it theoretically possible to do on an arcade version of MK2.

Well if you ask me, of all of the past MK games, I believe that MK2 still has something left to be found(I still play it), and I know its possible to play as Jade, Smoke, Noob Saibot, etc on the Genesis(with A Game Genie) and 32X(only on a emulator for now) version of MK2 , and they are somewhat functional, Jade being the most functional because she has Kitana's Fan Throw and Wave Punch(but don't have the Fan Swipe and can;t do a air Fan Throw, because she will get stuck in the air), if you control Smoke, he doesn't smoke at all, and he doesn't have the spear, he has this strange move its like he is going to a ice blast, I can't really explain it but if you want to see a picture I can post it up, Noob dosen't have the spear either when not control by computer, he has a move that he clones himself in a dizzy stance, and they don't have endings, and if you use Low Kick, the game will crash, so if there are any more secrets in MK2(I believe there are), I would say they are to play as the hidden characters and bosses(functioning like they would if they were control by computer) and maybe being possible to finish off Jade, Noob, and Smoke like they are normal characters, because they are just palette swaps of the male/female ninjas and you can stun then into the dizzy stance.

Just a quick follow up to that last post.

Why haven't we figured it out in the past 10+ years?

Maybe because we as fans haven't been trying hard enough, some people are so quick to come to the conclusion that everything has be been found in MK2, well I still believe that there is something left and that why I still play the game, there are people outhere who has hack this game to death and found some interesting stuff, so if you can't find anything in MK2 worthwild, then hack it and making things happen.

Oh I see where you're going, I just meant, there's nothing left in the game to find that can be done by walking up to an arcade machine and dropping a quarter in it, or booting up and SNES, etc. Hacking though, anything is possible.

Now that I think about it, your right, there isn't anything left without hacking MK2, but I thinks its cool there are people who hack games like MK2 to do things that we couldn't do in the normal MK2 game, someone I know over at GScentral.com hacked the Sega 32X version of MK2, the only thing I hate about it is the game genie codes withnot work on a real 32X system.(I like this version better than the Genesis & SNES version) like I said in my earlier post, I was able to play as the hidden characters which was cool because I though it wasn't possible, that brought some fun back into the game for me.

Actually there are two things I know from for a fact that no one has found yet in MKII, and no one can explain yet. I have the stand up arcade of MKII and I've played it ever since I got it. I always do a Rom check every month to make sure my chips are working fine, and every once in a while I do look at the counters where they tell you how many times something has occurred. For instance how many times you choose a certain character, and how many times you fight Jade, Smoke, Noob, etc. Every counter has a number higher than 0 except for two things. Shawn Attacks, and Kano Transformations. As far as we all know they don't exists, but if you count them since they are in the CPU of the arcade, then what are they? Two secrets someone has never found in MKII. In the MK3 game, not UMK3, but in MK3 Shawn Attacks, and Cage Transformations is in that version. I have it too. What are they? I believe we have found everything, but if these counters mean something, then we realy haven't.

There are no more secrets in MK2. The most recent thing found were the names of Ermac, Tanya, and a few other bogus charecters in the coding to make those who look through MK2 with a hex editor cream themselves momentarily.

Ermac, Tanya, Ed Boon and others being listed in the game's code is very, very old news. That was known since before even revision 3.1 had shipped.

I don't remember any recent interview with Ed Boon where he said there was more to be found. In fact, as far as I know it's the opposite. In 1999 after MK Gold came out he was asked and said there was not. Do a google and you can find the transcript and see for yourself.

i mean the DIP switches in mk1 and mk2 dos versions! noone absolutely noone know all their purpose... about the hex if you open mktrilw.exe (mkt win version) with hex editor you'll find text like "Tobias Wins" "Boon Wins" "Hyper Fatality" and etc. this doesnt mean that they are in game and i dont say that, but there is text for Galaga in mktrilw.exe and there is no kode to play it on pc version...anyway what i mean is that DIP Switches Menu is in the Games (mk1 and mk2 dos) but noone can say for what are they, there are only 6 known switches purpose for mk1 dos and 0 (!) for mk2 dos
