MORTAL KOMBAT ARMAGEDDON
THE FINAL DROP OF BLOOD
"The theme of finality came up when we were determining whether we should move on to the next generation or create one last game for the current consoles," recalls Mortal Kombat's creator, Ed Boon. "Finality drove the whole story. It drove the feature sets. It's the last step in this generation. By wrapping things up, we can move on to the next generation with the slate wiped clean."
Leaving the current generation with the series in it's current state is comparable to turning off Star Wars before the Death Star is destroyed, or The Lord of the Rings before the One Ring is cast back into the fire. In a way, Mortal Kombat: Armageddon will bring with it an end to an era -- the final battle for a generation. When the last drop of blood is spilled, Shang Tsung's deadly tournament will likely reach its conclusion. "I want to see a pan shot over a battlefield that is smoldering and littered with bodies," says Boon. "It's going to be this massive culmination of things. I can't imagine that we'll come back [in the next generation] and not have a Sub-Zero or Scorpion, but my feeling is that I would like to introduce as much newness as is possible."
To ensure that all of the loose ends are properly tied up, every character that has ever thrown a punch in a Mortal Kombat tournament is suiting up for another round in Armageddon. "We really want to play up the nostalgia factor of it," comments Boon. Just looking at the roster of 60-plus combatants will assuredly bring back a flood of memories for fans. Did you ever really think you would see Stryker again?
This immense roster is just a small taste of the new material that will be included in this explosive finale. This installment will also house the reinvention of the Fatality system, the implementation of the series' first create-a-fighter mode, the evolution of combat through aerial maneuvers, plus the transformation of Konquest mode -- which could very well double as a stand alone game like Shaolin Monks.
"We can only do this mass amount of content because it's the current generation," injects Boon. "We're not reinventing the display engine." As the future of the series looms ever closer, Armageddon will serve as a bridge between generations, bringing with it a sense of closure for fans, while still leaving the series open for rebirth.

Thanks, Konqrr! You rule as always!

That part bothers me a great deal. I hope they don't kill off all the good characters! MK without most of the classics would be wrong!

No. I believe it'll be the last MK as we know it. I think Boon is saying that he wants to introduce new characters in the next one and be rid of most of the currently known fighters. Time will tell I suppose.

Thanks Konqrr!!
Yeah, this does sound like the end of this specific story that has focused around the Earthrealm warriors ever since the first tournament. I guess it's anyone's guess where the story will go after the dust settles and we see Boon's camera pan over the littered bodies.
Just as long as they stay dead!!

Excellent work, Konqrr. Although I dont see scorpion anywhere in the group of fighters. My guess is that the flaming dude up the top isnt blaze, but maybe an altered for of scorpion himself. Just my thoughts, u gotta throw crazy ideas with new MK games

It's very easy to realize that there are parts towards the magazine bind in the middle that weren't scanned. That's why you can't see Scorpion, Mileena, etc. That is Blaze on top, the magazine says so in the bottom right corner.

Well, there goes my theory out the window

I wonder if Motaro and Khameleon will be included. I hope they are, just so that everyone is there. And if need be, Chameleon and Meat also. After all, Mokap is there. (Though joke or not, Mokap was an actualy character. Chameleon and Meat had no story etc). i think the problem with motaro is that he is the only four legged character. Maybe this will proove hard to add to the fighting engine. (And also horses cant really sidestep etc so he may look kinda static).
I also wonder if they will include anyone new. They say they want to tie up everything in the MK world as we know it, and move onto something new. Perhaps theyll take some characters with them, or put in a few new people to introduce the new stories etc, rather than jsut stop this one and start anew. Who knows. Would be ok if they didnt add anything new anyway.
Id also have preferred that the MKDA and MKD characters had new looks. Lets hope they get a new alternate costume(s). All the one hit wonders look good, except Rain IMO. He look terrible IMO.

Well, I have really mixed feelings about all of this. A lot of the things mentioned sound good, but when you get right down to it, it's more than likely going to suffer from half-assedness. If this game is really coming out this October, I think that's just way too soon. They need to spend more time and QUALITY on certain aspects of the game *cough*fighting system*cough* to really make this one better than at least MKDA and MKD, but I guess I'm asking for too much.

u are getting 60 guys 15 might be useful. 1000 moves 50 might be usefull. like they did pallete swipes in mk1 and 2 . this will be stance swipes. same combos per stance just whatever character has them. just gonna be a half ass game like last 2. btw BRC will return... and the game will be as broken as last 2. fun to play but 100% broken.

thanks Konqrr, great work as always
Well, if MKTeam will created a MK without any classic character, I will love them forever to have the nuts to say that MK isn't Sub-Zero, Scorpion or Raiden, but a tons of blood, good storys and better Fatalitys

Don't Count your chickens until they hatch. If I remember correctly, it seemed as if MKD was gonna do the same thing because on some of the trailers characters shared stances but when it finally came out, Everyone had there own stances.

Im dont care about the adventure game characters but I ask the following characters be included
Motaro
Khameleon
Chameleon
Meat
Monster
I know we have 57 characters already but if they add those 5 characters in then it will fulfill the 60+ character promise with a total of 62 characters and will make me a happy monkey.
