Shao Kahn, the greatest boss that has ever graced MK, some might say. In my opinion, I think that's correct. Ever since MK2, he has been quite menacing with his powerful moves and haunting taunts. However, he has become very stale. When he died in MKDA, I thought it was for good. But it turns out, like always, in MK, you never are truly dead. Well, Kahn needs to be. The same storyline has gotten stale and he has one too many enemies breathing down his back. Kahn, I'm sorry to say you won't have a flawless victory this game.
Since the mighty Emperor of Outworld has returned last game, it seems things are same as always for him. There's just one question I want to ask - Does he only want to take back the throne, or is he still under the influence of the Komidogu and wants to retrieve it from Onaga? Aside, it really doesn't effect his story too much unless Boon & Co. has radically changed his perspective. Either way, he's still got problems as all his men have scattered to every corner and leader in the realms. Most definitely it seems he has the support of the Shokans though. It kinda pisses me off though, because the alliance they had with Edenia was turning into something good, and they had to go back and reverse that, as usual. It would be neat however, if Goro had another change of heart and went back to Edenia, that way the Kintaro/Goro fight could occur. Seems that he has lost the Centaurs and the Tarkata. So who does he really have? Nobody. Kahn is in deep shit.
Since Baraka is the ever switching henchman, there is a chance he could return to Kahn. If Baraka is smart though, he won't. Kahn has most likely gotten sick of his insolence. He would most likely be killed off. Baraka has actually played it smart the last few games, so I don't think it'll happen. If they meet on the battlefield though, I pity the fool...Baraka that is.
Even though it is likely not to occur, it would be nice to see Kahn beat down either Shang Tsung or Quan Chi for revenge of his "death". Tsung has always been a weasel, and Kahn was exterminate him like the pest that he is.
Another great climatic battle would be between Kahn and Raiden. I don't remember who it was, but someone made a thread about how Kahn used to be a protector of Outworld, like Raiden is to Earthrealm, but he fell from grace. It is possible that he and the thundergod were once great allies, but power consumed Kahn and he is what he is now.
Bo' Rai Cho is a big threat against all the enemies, because the Edenian army has been kickin ass. If Shao Kahn hopes to succeed he definitely needs to get rid of them. It will be a difficult task, however. I really don't think Kahn would be able to win against them and Onaga's troops. Now you can really see why he is doomed this game.
Even more threats from Edenia, Kitana is I'm sure sick of Kahn trying to take her realm over. This bitch is gonna woop him this game. With a tag team of her, Sindel, and either Mileena, Jade, or Rain, he will be brought to his knees by is family. There will be no sparring of his death after all the torment he has cause for them. This is the end of Kahn's reign, if it wasn't a long time ago.
Basically Kahn was pretty cool, and just got lamer as he went along. There's really no reason for him to stay in the game now. He is weak, generally has no storyline, and has gotten lame, just like many others. He's screwed and that's all there is to it.

I didn't know that that had happened in a comic; how'd it turn out?

I disagree with you about Shao Kahn having little depth. I think he has quite a bit of depth. Not only is he a very powerful, brutish, and tyrannical leader who oppresses his people, but he is also a cunning tactician and likes to use psychological tactics such as taunts and laughs. Also, he seems to have a soft spot for Sindel and Kitana. I do think that while the clone thing showed him as a cunning tactician, they failed to properly explain things behind the artifact itself. Shao Kahn's story could've continued on to more MK games, imo, but with the way MKA, he will also suffer, but not as much as characters like Sub-Zero, Sektor, etc.

The soft-spot bit is interesting, but it's something that's become more of a fan-assumption rather than canon fact, because there's so little implying that Shao Kahn ever really did love Sindel, or had her as simply a trophy wife and a direct link to Edenia's throne, plus considering her soul would be reborn on Earth when she would be ressurected, it's possible that he may have just used her as a pawn the whole time.
Love for Kitana on the other hand I doubt even exists; considering he wanted her stopped at all costs (even if it meant her death) when he sent Jade and Reptile after her, that doesn't necessarily scream "fatherly-love". I'm almost more inclined to think he has more feelings for Mileena, since he did ressurect her (although the whole "she can read Kitana's mind" bit might've been an incentive), and despite that, still wants Kitana dead. If anything, he consideres her more as a disgruntled former employee, since she was his personal assassin, than an actual daughter.
The cloning idea would've been good with more backstory to it, I can agree with you 100% on that.

I think it was said somewhere (don't recall the actual source) when MK3 came out that Kahn was actually devestated that Sindel had died.
But I admit, that's not much of a canon confirmation and it's possible...rather likely...that it was forgotten, but it does open the possiblity.

But that was after Kitana had betrayed him, so of course he'd want her stopped. And according to Jade's bio he wanted her alive and in Reptile's he said kill if necessary...so he did want her back if it was possible. Also, Kahn didn't resurrect Mileena...Shinnok did. Besides, if Kahn did care about Mileena more, then she'd have no reason to hate Kitana.
But Kahn's supposed feelings for Kitana stem more from the question why he kept her alive and raised her as his own when he conquered Edenia. It could have just been for Sindel's sake...but she killed herself and Kahn kept Kitana around anyway. I don't buy the political reasons theory at all...that he needed Kitana alive so he'd have a legitimate claim to the throne. He conquered Edenia through Mortal Kombat, fair and square. Now it is possible that he just kept her around because he's that big of a prick, but I prefer to think there was some deeper reason Kahn went through the trouble of letting Kitana live, raising her, training her to be an assassin, and then trying to create a clone of her just in case she turned against him when he could have just as easily had her killed and be done with it.

Maybe he was just doing it as a way to dishonor Jerrod's memory? Sorta like "Haha. Your daughter's a cold-blooded assassin now." I mean I recall what Splinter said to the Ninja Turtles once (Yes, I used to like them, sue me) "Any endeavor he takes, he does for his own selfish gains" (In referrence to The Shredder).
Besides that, I don't think Shao Kahn would any qualms with killing Kitana, especially now. If he didn't, why bother making a clone that was intended to take Kitana's place? I mean, you have a good theory about Shao Kahn and Kitana's theory, but nobody really knows for sure how the characters interact with each other. (It'd be nice to see, that's for certain)

I like your reasoning about Kitana, Xiahou, but there's one thing you missed about Mileena's storyline;
In her MKT biography, it's stated that "Mileena finds herself brought back to life by Shao Kahn himself," and her ending has it that "Shinnok (...) allows her soul to be reborn on the outworld," which would lead me to believe that Shinnok let Shao Kahn ressurect her (considering Shang Tsung needed Shinnok and Quan Chi to bring back Sindel, it does make sense that Shinnok is somehow involved in Mileena coming back too).
This is by far my favourite line that describes how evil Shao Kahn is; "Enraged by [Sindel's suicide], Shao Kahn withheld her soul from moving to a higher existence. Instead, he held it as his own prized possession. A token of his victory over Edenia's former king Jerrod and a constant reminder of his power to Queen Sindel's daughter the Princess Kitana."* He kept her alive out of malice and domination.
Mileena can still hate Kitana though, with or without Kahn favouring her; Mileena is just a clone, and that alone could've been a heck of a trauma for her. Plus, Kitana's got looks, and Kitana is royalty, and after Edenia's free, she has an entire empire of people who worship her. What does Mileena get in all that? Death, fear from her superiors, and she can only get it from Tarkatas.
And for Shao Kahn keeping Kitana alive, maybe he thought of her as leverage for when Sindel would be brought back; bring back the dead mom, see that her kid's working for the bad side, and she remains on the side her child is on.
lol, yeah, I kind of look at Shao Kahn as more of a tactical prick than a loving person.
I don't know where you got that idea, man, because I wrote this...
Also, the thread title clearly states, "Official Character Story End Thread (Now Discussing the NEW MK2 Character Cast Members on pg. 18); Reptile's not new.

To be honest with you, Jerrod. I like to think of Shao Kahn into a type of emotional manipulator myself. Basically, if I had things my way, his (apparent) murder of Kung Lao in MK3 would be part of his mental torture of Liu Kang. And when his opponent is physically spent, emotionally crushed, only then does Shao Kahn feel the need to kill him/her. Shao Kahn's a really evil bastard in my book.
(Is it wrong to put a smile simile at that.

That is a way of looking at it. This sort of thing really is all about what one reads in between the lines, which is why I always say "possible" feelings and "maybe" he cared about her.
Like I said though...personally I prefer to think Kahn on some level really did or does feel some sort of affection for Kitana and he just has a really fucked up way of showing it.
I feel a really bizarre father/daughter, love/hate relationship adds some nice depth and interest to both Kahn and Kitana's stories.

Yeah, I know what you're saying, and I agree.
You know, in MK: Annihilation, with the scene in which Kahn offers Kitana that drink as a peace offering, it does show that he does care about her. I know that movie was rather shitty, but Kahn sort of showing his care for Kitana is one thing I did like about it.
Smoke has always been a great character. Even since the beginning, when he was alluded to by secret messages and hints, and was a faster, tougher version of Scorpion, he has always been fasinating to me. I dreamed of being able to play as the elusive assassin, and finally in the MK3 era, I got my chance. After that he has been a favorite of mine. With a sad and dark story, and incredible gameplay, Smoke has become a fan favorite. However, recent dilemmas have set him being Noob Saibot's bitch, moving farther away from his task of gaining a soul back.
Smoke was last seen accompanying the wraith Noob Saibot in the Netherealm, being a base for his cyber-demon army. Desperately trying to detach from Noob, he has not succeeded quite yet. And it seems some time will pass before he does so. During this period, the Netherealm seems to be taking affect on him. Turning the former Lin Kuei member into a demon of sorts. What I want to know is exactly how it is happening and what will come of it? Will his whole persona and look be changed? It would be very interesting to see if anything comes of this. Maybe just a semi-transformation would be nice. In fact, that's all. I want the good in him to come out, be reverted back by one of his former allies. Namely Sub-Zero.
As we have seen Sub-Zero and Smoke have already met during the events of MKD. Did Smoke even realize it was him? Or has he become so blinded by the evil presence of the Netherealm that he has totally forgotten his best friend? I really want to see some connection between them in this game. Some real connection, to show that they are indeed best of friends. That might take a little brute strength, as Ashrah so politely demonstrated in her ending. Smoke began to override his systems, thus this could get him out of Noob Saibot's grasps. If he truly found out who he was then he could return to the side of good. This is another good point I'd like to pick out. Let's see some inner struggle for him. Let us know how tough it is for him. I believe that he will find himself in the end, but not without a price. In the finally battle, Sub-Zero, Sareena, and Ashrah will be pitted against Noob Saibot, Frost, and Smoke. Smoke will be critically injured during the battle, but be freed in the process. He'll die in Sub-Zero's arms, as they are finally rejoined. A sad and fitting ending for the story of Smoke.
So basically all I want to see out of Smoke is to free himself, something's he's been doing his whole career. Even though I highly like him, he's better left in this generation to give a reminder to Sub-Zero of how drastically he has changed the Lin Kuei.

Smoke isn't a demon. His transformation into a cyborg demon was an idea for an ending that was supposed to be made for him. Basically, the evil energy of the Netherrealm overpowered the negative aspects of Smoke's programming thus transforming him into a cyborg demon.
Currently, he's just a cyborg made out of nanoids and all that.

Okay then, time to start the next character and upon choosing which MK3 character should go first? I didn't know if it should be Cyrax, Sindel or (as a twist) Stryker. But anyway.. .seeing as how Cyrax (along with Sektor) was probably one of the most popular new characters in MK3, he's going first.
Cyrax was one of the Lin Kuei's assassins. He was the second to undergo the automation process after Sektor, he was designated Unit LK-4D4. After being converted into a cyborg, Cyrax received orders to hunt down and assassinate Sub-Zero, who had refused to undergo the automation process and left the clan.
Cyrax's soul was spared during Shao Kahn's invasion since he did not have a soul to take. Cyrax continued to hunt Sub-Zero along with Sektor and Smoke. When they eventually found him, Cyrax was defeated by Sub-Zero and reprogrammed to assassinate Shao Kahn.
He would never get his chance as Shao Kahn was defeated before Cyrax could carry out his new orders. As he awaited new orders from the Lin Kuei, he malfunctioned and shut down in a desert.
Some time later, he was found by Sektor, who took him back to the Lin Kuei Headquarters where he was repaired. Once again instructed to find and assassinate Sub-Zero, it was apparent that Cyrax was somehow different than he used to be and Sektor was instructed to follow Cyrax, and decide whether or not it would be Cyrax's last mission.*
After Shinnok's defeat, Sonya Blade and Jax Briggs took Sonya back to Special Forces HQ as he had begin to experience flashbacks of his former life. He deemed his existence as meaningless unless he could reclaim his human soul. Fortunately, the process was a success and Cyrax regained his humanity. Out of gratitude, he joined the Outworld Investigation Agency.
Years later, while he was patrolling Outworld. He was attacked by Reptile, who bit into his arm panel. Cyrax was able to drive Reptile off, but he was now unable to return to Earth. It is also known that he had to drive off Moloch and Drahmin with a flash grenade when they attacked him during this time.
Shortly after, Nitara approached him and offered to return him to Earthrealm if he could received a mystical orb for her. He did not completely trust her, but knew that he had no choice.
She led him to what was unknown to them, the Dragon King's Incubation Chamber. Cyrax's sensors were almost burned out by the extreme heat, but he managed to find the orb that Nitara was searching for. After giving it to her, Nitara fufilled her end of the deal and returned Cyrax to Earth.**
*It should be noted that Cyrax's MK:DA Konquest states that he was discovered by Jax after he malfunctioned in the desert thus apparently retconning almost his entire MK4/MKG story as well as Sektor's.
**This is not confirmed to be canon, but it's highly assumed given various hints.
I've always liked Cyrax. (He was my choice player since Scorpion was absent in MK3. Probably because he was yellow like Scorpion) And of the three cyborgs, I think he's the most likely to survive. I expect him to get involved with Sektor and the Tekunin clan in some way, possibly as a target for assassination.
Either way, I'm not sure whether or not Cyrax should return in the next-gen, but if he does, I don't think I'll mind nor will I mind if he doesn't return. (I guess it depends on what they do with him in this game)

I honestly doubt that any of the cyborgs will survive, but I think that Cyrax is second most likely to survive (given the story, I think Sektor is most likely to live, though I'd like to see Smoke live the most). The only reason why I say he'll die is because I got to thinking, where else can they take his story? I came up with a few scenarios:
1- Cyrax meets up with Nitara during the final battle, and they fight together to defeat Reptile. Cyrax then ventures with the Special Forces to fight against the Black Dragon. Cyrax disappears in the fight and his whereabouts are unknown since. Cyrax either retires or is involved with someone's ending in MK8.
2- Basically the same as Ending #1, but after Reptile is defeated, Nitara ambushes Cyrax and kills him.
3- Cyrax is killed in battle against the Tekunin, at Sektor's hands. However, Cyrax left a little surprise, in the form of a ver powerful bomb. The Tekunin War Ship is completely obliterated in the explosion, killing everyone on board. Cyrax may have died, but he got the last laugh.
4- Perhaps he could develop a friendship with Sub-Zero. Cyrax sees Sub-Zero, Smoke, Ashrah, and Kenshi battling Noob Saibot, Frost, Sektor, and Hotaru (crazy group of 8 people, I know). Cyrax recalls his past as a Lin Kuei assassin, and sees that his former "brothers" (if you will) are in danger. Cyrax joins the side of Sub-Zero and helps them defeat their adversaries. Smoke dies in the battle and Cyrax becomes Sub-Zero's right hand man in the new Lin Kuei. Cyrax would possibly return for MK8.
5- Jax dies in battle against the Black and Red Dragon, and while Kenshi is off fighting other foes, Cyrax is enraged and sacrifices himself, wiping out both the Black Dragon and Red Dragon in one glorious explosion. Sonya survives the blast and retires.
6- The entire Black Dragon is defeated, and only Kano survives. He tries to escape the battle but Cyrax snares him in his net and puts him under arrest. Cyrax presents Kano to Sonya, who doesn't even give him a chance to state his case. Fatality. Cyrax retires from the Special Forces, stating that with the Black Dragon defeated his services are no longer necessary. Cyrax returns to his roots, going back to the Lin Kuei Temple. Cyrax finds Sub-Zero, who is less than happy to see him. Cyrax insists that he has changed, and says that he only wishes to reconcile with Sub-Zero for attempting to kill him so long ago. Sub-Zero accepts and offers for Cyrax to return to the clan. Cyrax respectfully declines, saying that his fighting days are over but he would help train new warriors. Cyrax does not return in MK8.
The reason why I think he'll die is because I don't think they'll use any of my ideas.

I see Cyrax dying in Sektor's hands as well. I never liked Cyrax much. He has a high chance to die.

I happen to like Cyrax, and it would be a shame if he were to die, even though I really believe that he hasn't got much left going for him.

I see Cyrax surviving but ultimately not returning for the future. Cyrax has very little enemies apart from Reptile and Red/Black Dragon Clan, plus he has Nitara and the Special Forces for allies. Plus he could always call on the Lin Kuei for SOME backup.

Cyrax and Sonya should continue the OIA. Kenshi should leave the OIA and after that I don't care what happens to him. Jax should die.
Cyrax is a character I didn't find all to interesting at first. In fact I hated him and the other cyber-ninjas. They just didn't fit into MK in my eyes but I've come around and I like all three now. Cyrax turned out to be what we all expected of Smoke. Smoke was believed to be able to come to the good side because of his former friendship with Sub-Zero but didn't. Cyrax however, with no ties on the good side managed to break free from his Lin Keui enslavement and find his own will. With the help of Sonya and Jax he became a force of good. He was at a time strong allies with Sektor and whether or not they'll confront each other in uncertain. I see both come back next generation and the Tekunin are a great threat to Earth and no doubt the OIA will be involved. Cyrax and Sektor should return in future generation. But I can't say the same for Smoke. As much as I liked him, he hasn't much to bring him to the next gen.

i think Boon (or maybe Beran?) said he liked Sektor a lot. So Id say Cyrax's ending will be death, and he was killed by Sektor. Unless both of them die in midst of battle or self-destruction. Or they're killed? There's a lot to ponder. But I personaly think Cyrax won't live.

Well, I have a feeling that somehow one of the cyborgs self-destruct sequence will go off killing a few people.I don't know who though.
I love Cyrax and he's my favorite MK character.I agree with PNF, I see Cyrax surviving out of the 3 cyborgs.I recently made a thread about this on here as well so it's funny this comes up.I like the topic and Cyrax so here's my prediction ending for him.
Cyrax regroups with the Special Forces and gets 100% repaired in preparation for this new war, Cyrax and Sonya bring a bunch of Special Forces warriors with them in search for Sektor's Tekunin and a threat to earthrealm and the earth's warriors. They find and confront the Tekunin, Cyrax fights Sektor.
Sektor's Tekunin was defeating the Special Forces in this fight, Sonya was almost defeated and Jax was no where near to help.Cyrax was losing the fight but made a comeback damaging Sektor, however he did not defeat him.Sektor set his missle sequence to max to destroy Cyrax, however Cyrax countered with his newer upgraded bomb sequence which is set to cause malfuntion to other mechanical cyborgs(except himself) he launches his bombs and they explode all over Sektor, the missle goes off however completely off target and blows a massive hole in his Tekunin warship. At this time, the Lin Kuei have been spying on the fight and Sub-Zero offers his aid.Sektor knowing this warrior knows he's outnumbered, so although he malfuntions due to Cyrax's bombs, he still has his self-destruct sequence. He sets it off, Cyrax detects shoots his green Net to try to contain it, but at the same time Sub-Zero freezes Sektor, Sektor is now frozen with the missle about to explode.Cyrax and Sub-Zero escape but barely.Sektor and his Tekunin clan warship are destroyed, however the blast was so strong that it killed most still on the ship.Sub-Zero, Cyrax would later meet up with Jax who sadly discovers that Sonya is dead.Cyrax, Sub-Zero and Jax survive.

Howdydoo all, The Incredible Tonerz has arrived and has something to say on the subject of Cyrax...
I feel that post-MKA there should be a sort of storyline where Cyrax finds his former human body, and seeks out Shang Tsung to transfer his soul back to his human form. Consequences being that Cyrax would revert back to the evil side, fufilling Shang's orders to the letter.
Another avenue Cyrax can turn to is Ashrah, I don't know is Ashrah has soul-transferring abilities but it could be possible, who knows?
Anyway I think a human Cyrax and human Sektor would force Midway into ironing out a solid past for our beloved "Ketchup" and "Mustard" bots.
