Scorpion is now..........pointless. Well, not completly pointless. I loved him in UMK3. He was one of my best, but now all he does is sale the game. His story is crap, and the only reason he's still around is because he sales games and is Boon's favorite. He could be so much more if MKD didn't happen to him. He could've rested that game out.

Gameplay wise, Scorpion is still terrible. His moves move so slow. They aren't what they used to be. In MKA with the aireal combos in, maybe his moves will be faster, so he'll be an exellent character to play as.

His story can't improve now. The revenge thing is dead now. Everyone wants to see something new out of him. The MK team has to fix him, or the Scorpion fans will get a new fav. But the fanboys will still love him lol.

Y'know, I dissagree, cause while Scorpion has been butchered as of late...there is still a glimmer of hope.

And maybe instead of everbody crying over the veritable 'spilt milk', of Scorpion running with Quan chi...maybe you guys should start looking at reasons why he'd be there?

Possibly there could be something greater at work in the Mk storyline?

Maybe the two sides have changed from black and white to shades of grey, what with Raiden now being all griity and angry?

I dunno, these may just be the wild rantings of a n00b, trying to make his first post on this awesome Forum meaningful.

I guess ultimately, that's up to the experts.

I agree. You know, the trailer might not mean anything. He still hates Sub-Zero, so maybe he decided that was more important.

Anyway, I love Scorpion, and I like his story right now. I think it is excellent, and he finaly getting the honor he deserves.
^Not really, MK:DA said that after finding out that Sub-Zero didn't kill his family, Scorpion no longer cared about him. So thus they are no longer enemies.
OK, discussion on Scorpion's story will still be allowed I suppose, but we will now start discussion on Older Sub-Zero/Noob Sabiot. Jerrod, now you can post your work. smile

Most of this is taken form the Official Mortal Kombat Mythologies Website.
Sub-Zero was a Chinese assassin from a group know as the Lin Kuei, and is a descendent from an ancient race of Outworld people called Cryomancers, warriors with the ability freeze.
Born in America, Sub-Zero was the oldest of three children, which included a brother and sister. Their mother wanted a normal life for her sons, who had already been chosen by the Lin Kuei to become warriors for the clan. She tried in vein to hide them from their father whose own life in America was only a cover for his true identity and purpose. Eventually they were found and their father returned with them to his homeland. Their mother and sister were never seen or heard from again.
Sub-Zero learned of his ability as a young adult. It was passed on to him by his father, a fourth generation Lin Kuei warrior himself. The ability to harness the element of cold is one that takes years of practice. It's full potential realized only by those who've mastered it at the latest stages of life. Sub-Zero's skills have the ability to develop much faster than those of the other Lin Kuei. This was realized by the Lin Kuei Grandmasters who picked the young warrior to take his deceased father's place as the next Sub-Zero.
Among his first missions for the Lin Kuei, is one that leads him to a Shaolin temple to steal a sacred map known as The Map of Elements. It shows the way to yet another temple long hidden from the eyes of mortal men. This temple is known as The Temple of Elements, and is built somewhere inside the Himalayan Mountains of Nepal. But, the real treasure is what's housed within the temple's walls. An artifact that predates man's history on Earth... the artifact is known as Shinnok's Amulet.
On this mission, Sub-Zero encountered Scorpion, who was also charged in finding the map for Quan Chi; they fought for it, and though Scorpion begged for mercy, Sub-Zero granted him none and killed him. Upon his return from the temple, Sub-Zero was asked by Quan Chi to defeat the Guardian Gods and retrieve the amulet. This was no simple task, but Sub-Zero completed it without fail.
As he approached the amulet, Quan Chi appeared and took it back to the Nethrealm, and at that moment, Raiden appeared and scolded Sub-Zero for sending the realms to their doom. He ordered Sub-Zero to retrieve the amulet from the Neathrealm and stop Quan Chi.
While in the Nethrealm, Sub-Zero fought against the Brothers of the Shadow, and eventually a more powerful Scorpion, who believed that Sub-Zero had exterminated his entire clan and all remnants of their existence. He wouldn't listen to Sub-Zero and attacked him. Once again, Sub-Zero was the victor.
After he escaped the Prison of Souls, crossed the Bridge of Immortality, and entered Quan Chi's Fortress, Sub-Zero came face-to-face with Quan Chi's personal assassins Kia, Jataaka, and Sareena. He defeated them all and found Quan Chi, who tried to gain Sub-Zero as an ally in the Brothers of the Shadow by revealing to him that the only reason he exists in the Nethrealm is because his soul is tainted with evil. Sub-Zero refuses the offer, and, surprisingly, with the help of Sareena, defeats Quan Chi.
Sareena helped Sub-Zero so that she could also escape the Nethrealm, but her essence was sent to the 5th plane of the Nethrealm by Shinnok himself. Amulet in hand, he challenged Sub-Zero, but lost thanks to his over-confidence. Sub-Zero returned to Earthrealm with the amulet and handed it to Raiden.
Curious about what Quan Chi had said, Sub-Zero asked Raiden about his soul being tainted with evil, and Raiden stated that it was true, and that only Sub-Zero could change this. Sub-Zero returned to the Lin Kuei with this knowledge, and vowed his loyalty to the organization. The Grandmaster declared that another sorceror named Shang Tsung wanted Sub-Zero to participate in a tournament called Mortal Kmbat.
This is where the story gets a tad hazy, because in Sub-Zero's MK1 ending, it states that his only goal in the tournament was the assassination of Shang Tsung by request of one of his wealthy enemies. Most fans interpret that Sub-Zero was asked to assassinate Shang Tsung after he was asked to participate, which was within the two years before the tournament.
After the two years had passed, Sub-Zero was surprised to find Scorpion, still bent on revenge, on the boat leading to Shang Tsung's personal island. Scorpion and Sub-Zero fought in the tournament, but this time the Lin Kuei warrior lost to the spectre, and his soul descended to the Netherealm, free from compassion.
He had to earn his place while he was in the Nethrealm, and became a wraith named Noob Saibot. He ended up joining the Brothers of the Shadow, and ventured to Outworld to spy on the events of the second tournament, and later, the war between Earthrealm and Outworld. Although he was ordered to side with Shao Kahn, his loyalties were to Shinnok.
When Shao Kahn was defeated, Noob Saibot returned to the Nethrealm and became a general in Shinnok's army of darkness. He helped lead the war against the Elder Gods and Edenia.
Once Shinnok was defeated, Noob Saibot returned to work for Shao Kahn, and disposed of several would-be threats to Shao Kahn's rule, including Goro, who had sided with Kitana against Shao Kahn during the war with Shinnok.
When Noob Saibot returned to his master, he realised that Shao Kahn was dead. With this, he came to the conclusion that he could now be his own demon and rule the Netherealm with his own brand of hatred. He ventured into Kahn's dungeons and reprogrammed Smoke to obey only him. With Smoke as his template, Noob planned on creating an army of cyborg demons and taking over the Nethrealm.
My thoughts: I believe that Noob Saibot will achieve his goal of ruling the Neathrealm, but I don't believe that Smoke will help him. His brother, the current Sub-Zero, will play a huge role in getting Smoke away from Noob Saibot, and odds are there will be a confrontation between Sub-Zero and Noob, but I don't think that Sub-Zero will kill his own brother, even though he's already dead and would come back like Scorpion anyway. But with that being said, Noob Saibot can't die, so I believe we'll see him after Armageddon, and that he'll claw his way ot the top of the Netherealm food chain once again. I can picture him reforming the Brothers of the Shadow, similar to the way Sub-Zero did with the Lin Kuei (except that they obviously won't be a force of good).
Older Sub/Noob's story is pretty good, it didn't really pick up until MK:D when we learned his true identity. There's a lot of potential for this storyline, I'd like to see these characters get involved (other than Noob, Smoke and Sub-Zero, they're already involved):

Scorpion
Sareena
Frost
Ashrah (ok, maybe she already is)
Reiko

Hopefully they'll make this confrontation epic with (almost) every character who's been involved with this storyline...

Okay, only a few people should get involved with Sub, and Noob.

Sareena-Well, she has to doesn't she? She lives in the Lin Keui temple and she saved Noob's life once. She is obviously gonna get involved. Maybe she'll be with Noob Saibot instead of Sub-Zero like everyone says.

Smoke- Duh. He's Noob's ticket to rule the netherrealm and Sub-Zero's former friend and ally. He's gonna play a huge role on how things end up.

Frost-She should be Noob's aprentice. They should really develop her story. Maybe she's the sister of noob and Sub-Zero?

Some people that might get involved, but I wouldn't want to see it happen-

Scorpion-Stick to fighting Quan Chi. Let Sub-Zero do this by himself. Sub-Zero could be ruined if Scorpion kills Noob Saibot.

Ashrah- An anoying person. Do something else. lol. Even though she has a huge chance to fight Noob, I really don't want to see her battling Noob Saibot. Maybe Frost, but definitly not Noob.

As much as I like Noob Saibot, I feel there can only be one Zero member in MKO and thats the younger Sub-Zero. But I don't want Sub-Zero to kill Noob Saibot. That would be a) predictable and b) heartless when Subby is one of the really good good guys.

I want Ashrah to earn her freedom, I see alot of potential for her, so I want her to slay Noob Saibot.

Personally, i don't feel noob should be slain. I think Noob sould simply stick to whats been going on with him, basically the allaince with smoke (although I would like seperate characters on the select screen). I see smoke and Noob continue to be on the path they're on and secondly.... Frost is dead, she was a horrible charcater that did nothing for Sub-zeros story line. If anythinhg, it took away some of his coolness, having a lame apprentice with moves that completely sucked... I mean, If there were another cool Lin quie warrior that resembled sub, u know a cool young ninja, possibly that could help the story line...

If Frost is gonna team up with Sub's older brother noob she should also become a neatherrelm wraith. She did die a horrible death after all, and it was on the side of evil. That would play along nicely but once again, i still don't see the bad blood between Noob and Sub and how Frost could fit in it, its too far off. Same thing with Ashrah, get her the hell out of there, if she wants to have her own thing going on with noob saibot, then make it small, let her foucus on Ermac.

Ermac, I see him doing battle with Noob. They're both basically in the same court and both total opposites. They are bad ass ninjas that I could definatly see fighting a brutal fight.

Moloch and Drahmin, these two should be more like allies with Noob and SMoke. Their purpose was worn out and they arnt exactly "memorable" characters... I do see they have alot of potential. Having a high hand in the neather realm, Noob could help them for their servies...

ShaoKhan..... Now this is just an idea thrown out there, but I could see Noob and Smoke making an alliance with him, having shaokhans military and the brotherhood of the shadow team up. They Both basically have the same perspectives in mind. If shaokhan merges the realms the brotherhood would be free to raom all realms and wreak havic and chaos on them. To obtain their goal they need to help him, and he looks like he could use a seriously tough hand.... just a thought.

THIS storyline should be handled VERY carefully. This is the most developed plot, and hands down the best storyline in MK so far. That's all I gotta say. Cause anything I try to predict just wouldn't be good enough, I think.

But one of them should die. An interesting twist would be for the young Sub-Zero to die, and for Noob Saibot to regain his old self, therefore becoming Sub-Zero again.

I reckon, cause Rain's my fav character, Rain is going to help the good guys by destroying all the bad guy's with them, then, he's gonna go into Kahn's palace, alone, see Reiko tryin Kahn's helmet on, rain kills rieko by smashing his face on the floor, then Rain is going to avenge his father's death by killing Shao Kahn, which will result in him going home to Edenia, where he has a nice peaceful life ... until he gets promoted to general!!!grin

Alright everyone, I'm finally here. I'm not at home at the moment, but uh, I got a chance to head in here for some of my own insights. Before I get into them, PNF, do you still want me to do Sub-Zero's whole story? Just let me know when I should post it. Anyhoo, moving on to Scorpion and Noob Saibot....

Scorpion

Scorpion was definitely one of my top favorite characters. Storywise, I felt he sort of had something going with the way his story was before. However, thanks to MKDA, his story has really turned into shit. Despite this, I still do see some potential for his storyline. PNF and I agree on the whole Sub-Zero/Scorpion team up against Noob Saibot. I think this will kind of give some interesting insight into Scorpion, namely him taking responsibility for his actions as well as putting certain things behind him once and for all.

I'm sure we will see him deal with Quan Chi...well, at least I hope so. I have a feeling that we will probably see him in the next gen MK games. So instead of him possibly getting some reward like being with his family, he'll probably continue to be the Elder Gods' enforcer. I do wonder if they made a deal with him or if they are simply manipulating him.

If this is Scorpion's last MK game appearance (which I doubt), I think they should really do justice with his story (well...either way, they should do justice for his story with the way they fucked him up in MKDA..).

Noob Saibot

Noob Saibot has definitely become one of my top favorite characters. In the past, he was this very enigmatic, shadowy figure who serves some evil boss or something and we never really got any kind of insight into his psyche. However, with his story in MKD, he's now a potential power player. That along with the revelation that he was once the Older Sub-Zero, it really opens up to some really interesting story possibilities.

I see several characters that could very well connect to his story and those would be..

Sub-Zero
Scorpion
Sareena
Shinnok
Quan Chi
Ashrah
Sektor
Frost
Smoke

That's quite a few characters considering for a character who didn't have much of a story until MKD came around. I kind of compare Noob Saibot to characters such as Darth Vader from Star Wars and Rhinox from Beast Wars and Beast Machines. I just see lots of possibilities for him, but mainly, I want characters like Sub-Zero, Scorpion, and Sareena to be involved with his story.

I'm sure we'll see Ashrah and Smoke as well. I think Frost would be interesting to see and her and Noob would find a common enemy in Sub-Zero. The same can be said for Sektor and Noob and they could help each other somehow...like uh..Noob would help Sektor gain control of Earthrealm while Sektor helps Noob gain control of the Netherrealm.

I doubt we'll be seeing Noob Saibot in the next-gen MK games. I'm sure that his story will end with some kind of single, final confrontation between him and his brother, Sub-Zero. I think it should definitely be epic and dramatic and all that.

Well, I guess that's all I have to say for now. Great thread, PNF. I'll try to make it online when I can.

I was just thinking, does Noob Saibot knows who Ashrah is? I mean, Ashrah knows who Noob Saibot is...but it feels like Noob and Smoke does not seem to know Ashrah.

It would be kind of funny, for Noob Saibot to be attacking sub-zero and just out of nowhere, Ashrah attacks him with her Kriss.

Man your story is well plotted well done. But hell no i am going to see scorpion as an "angel" rising from heaven, the character which made scrpion let's say famous was his moves and the place where he lives the netherrealm. The skull that he has when he removes the mask, the kick with the fire.i think scorpion should be as a guy that will stay in the netherealm.furious

interesting point made about frost she could be the hidden sister of Noob Saibot/former Sub-Zero.
She probably made an attempt to steal the Lin Kuei amulet and return it back to Noob, either for power or granting himself his human presence.

I seriously hope she won't be the sister of the Sub-Zero brothers. The Sub-Zero/Noob Saibot sibling conflict is enough as it is. I don't think the Dragon Medallion can grant Noob Saibot his human form. What it would do is increase his strength, fighting skills, and enhance his powers.

I seriously hope she won't be the sister of the Sub-Zero brothers.

I think it will be neat. First of all,MKA is supposed to tie up all of the loose ends. And we never did find out what the hell happened to the daughter and wife of Sub-Zero IV,after all. Besides,it's not like cryomancers are just, like, walking around. O_o Frost being Sub-Zero's sister would make a whole lot of sense, really.
Plus,it will show Sub-Zero in an even more positive light. Both his brother and his sister, fallen to the Dark Side (-_-) in their blind pursuit of power. He,however, managed to escape this outcome. So yeah.

Now,as far as Scorp/Sub plot segment is concerned:

-I can see Sub blaming himself for whatever happened to Frost. He will be the one to deal with her. And then,in a big "NOOOOOOO!11!"(c)Vader moment,he finds out that she was his sister,or something.

-Speaking of Frost,I assume she has been hibernating all this time, adjusting her body to the power of the Dragon Medallion. A similar plot twist has been used in RE:Code Veronica, where Alexia Ashford goes into a cryogenic sleep for a good couple of decades to adjust her body to the development of T-Veronica virus. Once Frost breaks out of her icy cocoon... thingy, she'll probably be WAY more powerful than before. I don't think she'll turn into a wraith. We have one already. I have no idea as to what her purpose might be. It could be the Medallion again, but if we assume she already absorbed its power (and turned into a popsicle as a sideffect),why would she need it again? I dunno...

-Sareena might be forced to choose between the Sub-Zero brothers. The younger Sub gave her a place to crash when she was on the run from the Brotherhood of Shadow. On the other hand, she kind of developed a certain attraction to the older Sub during the events of Mythology. Besides, now that he is a Netherealm wraith AND a member of the Brotherhood, they got so much more in common now. =) Depending on her choice, she may or may not have to deal with Ashrah going after her.

-Speaking of Ashrah,it would be logical for her to keep chasing Noob to finally achieve salvation or whatever, but that would be way too boring. I like her as a character, but Midway would have to come up with some fresh material for her.

-Now,as for Noob,he might have two possible targets - Sub and Quan Chi. Also, let's not forget that Noob's primary objective is to take over Netherworld. I highly doubt Shinnok will approve that...
"Dude,Where's My Realm?" =)

-I have no clue as to what the hell could Sektor's objective be. Kill Sub-Zero? That would be too bland. There might be some possible connection/alliance between Tekunin and the cybernetic demon horde that Noob wants to build.

-Smoke needs to get the hell away from Noob and become an independent character. But since Noob hax0red him, someone needs to reprogram him back to normal. Might be Sareena, pretending to join Noob's reformed Brotherhood to save Smoke because Sub asked her to...

-No idea what the hell would Quan Chi be up to. Being a scheming sonuvabitch that he is,I'm sure he'll come up with something really devious, trying to dick everybody over,as usual.

-Scorpion has fought enough. Being a Heavenly Pizza delivery boy for the Elder Gods obviously doesn't work out for him. Just let the guy go to Heaven to join his wife and kid. He deserved it. Besides, after he kills Quan Chi (and I'm sure he will),he won't have anything left to do anyway.

Discuss.
^Just because they're both descendants of the cyromancers doesn't make them directly related.

Lets hope scorpion gets a better ending than in deadly alliance and deception. Maybe they should have him kill Drahmin or the blue guy(cant remember his name from deadly alliance). I thought he was going to be big in dealy alliance, but then his body gets destroyed. The his deception ending was too weird. Maybe they have him killing quan chi. There is one thing certain is that they probably will never get rid of scorpion or sub-zero.

Granted,it doesn't. But it makes SO much more sense that way.
Besides, aren't cryomancers an ancient, extinct race? What are the odds of one just randomly popping up like Frost did? Since Mythologies, that bit about Sub having a sister always bothered me a little. A good author does everything for a reason; so I don't think this detail would have been forgotten just like that. Let's hope her Unchained bio clears things up a little.
Well Tobias wrote Mythologies (as well as MK1-MK4's stories) while Vogel wrote MK:DA and MK:D (and most likely is writing MK:A's story) and besides that I think he said that Sub-Zero and Frost are not siblings.
