Who else has been waiting for this game? The first time i ever heard about the game was back in 97 and have been waiting for it ever since. When are they going to freaken release this game, i am sick of that statement "when its done". I thought the game was near completion when i saw the trailer back in 2001, i guess I was wrong.
I thought Duke Nukem 3d was an awsome game it had some of the most original weapons i have ever seen in a fps, and there was also alot of humor in the game, and duke nukem had the coolest personality i have ever seen in any game, i just hope the sequel can live up to it.

Dude, I complete agree!!!

Duke Nukem3D is definitely one of the best games I have ever played in my life!!! There is no doubt the original games (for PC) are the best of all.

I loved the action, the secrets, the music, the levels, the story, his comments (Shake it Baby, Those aliens bastards are shooting off my ride, die, asshole, etc), the SEXY CHIKS, the aliens, etc.

The game is amazing. I love everything about it.

Although I have only seen very few of that game you are talking about, I had also been waiting for its release, but there is no doubt the best DN games were the first PC versions (the 2d Duke Nukem3D, lol).

The music of that game is outsanding!

Broussard and team just purchased a new Physics engine for DNF... So I would assume that it's back on track?

You might end up getting in trouble for saying that.Just letting you know.

As for the game,I used to play it some at my friends house.I remember barely anything except it being fun as hell.I probably wouldnt buy the game though,I might rent it if it comes out.But will the length of the game coming out, they must want to make it damn near perfect if they have been working on it that long.

They have switched game engines.

Twice.

They've started over with their current tech.

Twice.

The most current technology that has been confirmed to be used in the development of DNF is a modified Unreal tech. Not UT 2k4 or even 2k3. I'm talking about Unreal/Unreal Tournament.. In order to be compared with other games in today's market, they would have to have rewritten an immense portion of that code.

There is even a rumor now that they have switched engines again. Not suprisingly, to the Doom 3 Engine.

While that would be fantastic for the game itself, it would push the game back even further. Who knows what's going to happen. It may fade into non-existence and become Vaporware, once again.
---

On an unrelated note, based on what you've seen, would you rather have a game based in the Doom 3 engine or Source(Half-Life2)?

hmmm am not too sure. Half-life2 and doom3 both look impressive, but i think i would like to see the game based on Source. I think it captures the duke numkem feel and mood better.

Wasnt that game made from the creators of Duke Nukem? Never played it though.
I thought it was funny in duke nukem 3d when you could acually kill the marine from Doom. I have no idea how they didnt get sued for that. Also in one of the many bars in the game you could see O.J simsons escaping from the cops in his white van on the t.v screens. I hope Duke Nukem Forever has those kind of cool stuff.

Better question: How long did it take for the new Ninja Gaiden game to come out after it was formally announced? Not very long at all. A few delays, yes...but NOTHING compared to DNF.

I'd expect the Matsushita M2 to be released before DNF does, along with Sega releasing another console.

Um, you guys should read press releases more often. 3D realms has stated that DNF has been shelved indefinitely. (press release was circa June 00)

I LOVE Duke Nukem! Better than Doom IMO. The best thing was giving strippers money then blowing them apart lol well at least it was hilarious when I was 10. But I have been waiting forever for a new one that was First-Person. The ones for PSX sucked.

Sorry, things change.

http://www.meqon.com/news/20040927.php

27th of September, 2004

Meqon is glad to announce that 3DRealms have decided to buy our Meqon Game Dynamics SDK for their upcoming title Duke Nukem Forever.

Meqon’s product strategy has always been to create the most easy to use and flexible physics engine on the market, but without compromising the computational speed. George Broussard, CEO of 3DRealms comments – “We thisthingisdisableduated several physics SDK's and Meqon was really fast, had the cleanest interface and integrated into our game very quickly.”

The Meqon Game Dynamics SDK does not only handle basic rigid body simulation but also contain highly advanced character and vehicle modules. Mr Broussard comments – “With its advanced feature set, we feel confident that Meqon's next generation physics engine can help us create the next generation of action games.”

----

I know that DNF has become the laughing stock of the internet.. But don't you all think its a bit strange that they would be buying engines and developing things if the game was shelved?

You're right.. But they've announced recently (In financial reports) that Duke Forever is slated to release some time in 2005/2006.

I am, in no way, a huge Duke Nukem Fan.. But I believe that the game will come out eventually, whether it's a good game or not.
