We need to band together and stop worrying about whos coming back and whos alternate is whos. Newsflash, Midway does what they want. Who wanted Nightwolf back? Did anyone? I doubt it, but guess what..he's back. I'm sure a kazillion more people wanted kitana back then nightwolf, but is that going to happen? I don't think so. Learn a lesson from that.
What people don't seem to understand is that as of now the gameplay(the actual fighting)appears to be unchanged. There seems to be no hint of an inclusion of gameplay deepening things such as canceling,delaying, a reworked throw system and such. Instead it seems midway is more focues on working on the extra features like puzzle fighter and konquest. I have no issue with this, but the gameplay should have been adjusted first. I don't care how much the levels alter gameplay...it will still play EXACTLY like MKDA with interactivty. Sorry Midway, but MKDA wasnt even close to the level of completetion that you can afford to use MKD as a "build off of" game. We still need the most basic shit like ive said time and time again.

No need to apologize, you are correct after all.
I hear what you saying but..we really don't know exactly how much has changed. Sure we see that the 3 fighting styles has returned, but for all we know that could be the only similarity. We really haven't seen much video in the way of game play. We seen a couple of quick seconds the little combos done to knock someone through a wall or into a death trap but that's it. Maybe more has changed and maybe it hasn't the fact is we just don't know yet. But you are right some things about actual gameplay need to change.

There may be changes to the gameplay that have not yet been announced. Your just assuming these things will happen and they very well could but no one is to know for certain yet. Have some faith.
I also want a BIG improvement in the fighting engine. Isn't it what the game is intended to?
But if the game have a MAJOR (BIG MAJOR) upgrade in the gameplay i think the new addictions will be drove the game into a new level.
Think about SC 2. Their side games are a very good addiciton to the game.
Well. If the MK will have new combos, new moves, more speed, more throws, more things and the gameplay improved than i am satisfied.
I also think Nightwolf is a great comeback. I loved that guy and i can't make any bad judgements in the whole cast becaus e i even didn't played it. I will give them a chance to prove that MK will be and will always be the best fighting game ever.
The whole game far now is superb. I wont to get disapointes and i don't think midway, this time, let the fans down with hopes that they can't achieve.
P.S. Another thing Midway should put in these games beside of what we know by now. New Fighting Modes: A storie Mode Fighting. Weapon Fighting, Survival Fighting. Objective Fighting (the more complicated the fight the best the reward). Team Battle Mode. Explore The arenas in Konquest with freedom to see how beautiful are the satges now.
The only thing i expect is a great (wonderfull) game. With or withou Liu Kang. If he's in then hell, i will play with him. I don't complain even if Raiden's, Kitana's, Fujin's, Sonya's and other caracthers don't be back. If the game have a nice plot, fast, new moves and huge improvment of gameplay than i'll be fine.

I have been thinking the same thing. Everyone is talking about characters and all that other bs. I want a good tournament worthy fighting game. I want depth...
Hopefully they do something good. Regardless im sure mkd will be a fun game but only for a while if its not deep. Frame data and shit would be fucking awesome.

How many MK's were NOT completly broken? Name me 1 MK that was not BROKEN AS HELL? MK has NEVER had decent gameplay. The closest it has ever come to a top notch fighting game engine was MK3 IMO. And even that game was broken as hell. lol.
Anyone who has been playing MK from day 1 KNOWS BY NOW that MK will never be on the level of: 3rd strike, KOF, and GG in term of technical in depth gameplay and national tournament value let alone respect as a fighting game abroad rather than a fatality show.
Colguile has come to see that MK is not really a technical fighter. It's a fun fighter. I don't think it's made to taken as a serious fighter. Just look at it. lol.

I have to agree 100%. It seems as if they don't understand how to make the fighting engine really impressive. All they do are the basics, that's it.
I hope they improve it, but I highly doubt it.
I think it's gonna be the same as before with a couple extra combos. All still inescapable : /

I think people don't understand something:

What I don't agree about this thread is the fact that you say gameplay was left unchanged. The MKDA gameplay was based in three different fighting styles per-character; combos that could start on Style 1 and end on Style 3. And I think the gameplay was pretty fun; however you could say DoA or SC2 are more fun; but they do not have a lot of things MK has. Having only 6 characters returning from Deadly Alliance could mean that the MK Team has to make three different styles for each of the other 18 characters; as a result you get they have to make 54 new styles(adding to that all the work it takes to model a character through different styles until you get to the one that will be the final for that character); and that's if they do not change the old MKDA styles for the 6 returning MKDA characters. Apart from that there are 2 new fatalities per-character adding 48 new fatalities to be made.
And the fact that they added "interactivity" to the stages, that you talk like it wasn't much. The game will feature HUGE stages having multiple interactive elements in each PART of each STAGE. Example: "Angry People will grab you if you get too near to one of the sides" or "Hanging corpses that you can kick to throw them at your enemies", that's only in ONE PART of an stage!; imagine the quantity of interactive things you need to add if there is only ONE thing to interact with per PART of an stage?, I'm pretty sure it's a full load of work. And to THAT add the fact that there are Death Traps, Stage fatalities that can be performed at any time. Now, if there was only 1 per stage would be a load of work; but according to IGN and GameSpot:
"The Ying Yang stage looks amazing; when the stage is on the positive side you see the sun shining and everything is beautiful, then it changes to the black side when it starts to rain, and that's the time when MULTIPLE DANGER ZONES BECOME ACTIVATED." Now, that could lead to think there might be more than 1 Death Trap per PART of an stage, meaning a much more full lot of work. To that you must add the presence of minor interactions such as lava falls on some place and if you are standing it will deal damage to you. But that's not all; as now you can throw people through walls, or throw them out from a 21 floors tower, etc etc; as there are obviously more than two stages in the game. AND finally the addition of Stage Weapons; each of these weapons have an UNIQUE FIGHTING STYLE, so now you have to add to the number new fighting styles to be made the number of Stage Weapons present in the game. And of course the new indicators they said will be implemented but has not been shown just yet.

Is this why Midway seemed to work on everything except gameplay improvements first.
"Alright guys..I know MKDA wasn't close to being complete! I know the throw system sucked, the characters were slow and stiff, it lacked any real depth and was shallow as fuck! I understand this is THE priority for the next mortal kombat butttttttttttttttttttttt i have sweet idea guys! How about a puzzle fighter rip off built in! WOULDNT THAT BE SWEET? Personally, I like the old style fighting engine, but everyone wants all techinical stuff. Its cool to bust out soem tough combos stuff like that, but I always doing the basic moves everyone had. I think they should keep MKD like that but you could go into a fighting style like in MK:DA to bust out some awsome combos.

All the extra stuff they add is good, but the actual fighting is not going to be anything special.
If it was, I'm sure they would be all exited about it and they would be talking about the new fighting engine instead of the corpses you can kick and the death traps.

I know I'm never gonna play those games.

These threads get me mad because all I see is people bitching about the game, saying: "The game does not have this."; "they didn't put this.", "they didn't improve this." and they just forget(or don't want to see) all the damn new cool stuff that has been implemented in the game.
That's why I'll think it's better to be the publisher; if I was a developer and saw a forum like this one I would just cancel the game; and maybe people would realize how good the game could have been.
