I'm a big MK fan, myself, but to claim that ANY MK game is better than, say, DOAU is pure bullshit.
This game is so heavily flawed and outdated that I can't help but laugh.

Yeah, I think it's the best package, not the best fighter...... not even close.

how can it suck?? I like Kongquest, but about the only guy I hate is Bo Rach Co. Mei Li is pretty cool.
They brought some classic zones back, Death pool, The pit1. And a some what remake of Pit 2.(That tower Zone)
Great Death traps, the best so far, Scorpin has Subzero's MK1 spine rip. Best Fat IMO. And the Dragon King, is preety cool as a boss, and he is hard to beat the first few times, I lost to him like 27 times before I finger out you can weaken him by breaking the flags.
I think MKD is the 2nd best fighting game in the MK series, The only one ahead of this is MK2,and MK2 is in a class by it's self. I glad MKD won the award.

MK is far superior in some aspects to others. But than again, gameplay may be better in DOAU or Tekken5. it is not fair to compare theese games.

Dead or Alive 3. I have played this... YES wonderful graphics, BUT graphics do NOT make a game good. The graphics may be good and the fighting more accurate and realistic but the actual game is boring as f**k!!! Not only that but i have no idea what the buttons I press actually do I just find myself pushing the analogue stick and all the buttons repeatedly. At least I know what I'm doing in MK... the characters in DOA are just so boring and one dimensional and not even remotely interesting. MK has the atmosphere, the story, the fun, and it is NOT boring... I dislike Tekken so for me MK is the best fighting game so this is a deserved win.

Wow you may not have realized it but you just admitted you are a no talent scrub masher. Seriously if you can't figure out what the buttons do in a game you probably shouldn't be playing games or using a computer or breathing for that matter not exactly rocket science to read an instruction manual but eh.
No way any MK deserves a best fighting game award ever. Deception is the second worst in the series the only one worse had to be mk 4 not counting home versions cuz then you could toss in mk gold.

not the Portal, the big Tower you fight in, Were you knock each other down a floor, the last floor has a MK2 Pit death stage feel to it,(Even though the body gets rip up when it hits the ground, That could happen in real life)
MKD is not a bad game, Not evey Mortal Kombat game can be other MK2.
And I always felt if I had to choose a worse one, Maybe MK3 or 4. I cant stand Jax turning into a giant and steping on his foe. I like his other death move though.
MKD is not as good as 2, or other fighting games, hell even the world warrior Street Fighter 2, was better than MKD. But in its own right it is not a bad game, Few fighting games can equal up to MK2 or Street Fighter2.
I dont hold them up to MK2 level, but I expect it to be better than 3 or 4. And it was. MAybe even over DA??

I don't understand how people who say "MKD sucks ass" keep going to this forum and posting here. If you hate the game so much why do you keep following it and going to it's forums? I noticed this in the describe the game in one word topic but I couldn't post it there. If it's such a disappointment and you hate it so much then stop playing it and go away. Liars. Way to fool yourselves just so you can fit in with others.
I completely agree with this game being the fighting game of the year. Then again I don't spend 30 hours a day doing everything possible to try and find problems with it, so what do I know?

People can be fans of MK for more than just Deception, that's why there are different forums, Pocket Kombat, Classic, Fan Submission and General are where a lot of people only post, yet sometimes they like to post their dislike for Deception every now and again, being MK fans and all.
Are you going to tell them to leave as well?

MKD sucks. It could be so much better. There are WAY too many problems, but yes, I DO like it. Alot. And yes, it was the best fighting game this year.

you are correct in every way. I have asked the same questions that you have asked. These players that supposedly hate this game so much and continue to describe its faults while comparing it to their favorite fighter are called Elitists. They above all else believe that they are the authority on fighting games and feel that it is their sworn duty to be-little other players that may not know what frame data is or how to buffer in a standing roundhouse to a Shin-Shoryuken in 3rd Strike via the kara technique. Give me a break guys. I have been playing and mastering fighting games for over 17 years, I started with the original streetfighter back in 87 when I was 13 and I don't feel the need to do what you are doing. Yes MK:D needs a proper wake up game to prevent 50/50 traps but other than that its really no different from the others in terms of basic strats.
There are infinites and glitches in all fighting games, please correct me if I'm wrong on this. What major fighting game does not have some overpoweing bug or character? If you think DOAU is godly over MK thats fine. I think Streetfighter 3 3rd Strike is better than all others. You know what thats called? Thats right, it's called an opinion. I happen to like MK:D due to the fact that I have had more fun with this game than any DOA or Tekken game. This years pickin's on fighters was rather slim and considering that DOAU was MK's competition the choice was obvious here in the US. The only people that really play DOA in the US are the hardcore fighting fans. Those DOA characters are not memorable, while MK and it's charaters are household names. Test this out with the public and ask them if they know who Kasumi is from DOA. They will not know, but ask them who Scorpion is from MK and they'll be like "Oh yeah, I know what that is!"
Thats why MK won the award at that show, popularity and not to mention its a fun game.

MK:D does not SUCK. It's not the best in the series, but it doesn't suck. People saying that are probably just fanboys for other games as well. I think most of the things that won last night deserved to win (i.e. GTA:SA) Everything it won, it deserved. Game of the Year, Soundtrack, all that good stuff. And I think MK deserved to win. Deception was great, and for the first time last weekend, I enjoyed online play because me and my friend were here playing it against people and making complete asses of ourselves one because he is not good at ALL with Mortal Kombat and I haven't played it in a while and the deathtraps had me laughing my ass off. Whoever said that graphics doesn't make the game was right. MK has the whole package. If the fighting game gets boring, you have puzzle. If puzzle bores you, you have Konquest. Then you got the music if you're a music junky like me. You got the endings, the extra vids, and the storyline was once again great. It was dark like MK should be. THIS was the MK game for the new generation, and it shows that GREAT GREAT GREAT things are to come for the MK saga. Sure, DOAU is a good game, I've played it, I know, BUT not every game that deserves to win, can win, and this year Mortal Kombat pulled out on top. Not fair you say? Then blame gamers, because they are the ones who voted. So, if you're going to say DOAU is the best game over MK, then you've got a bit of competiton because, from those results, it seems some gamers disagree with you.
