Well as the title states comic collectors spot. A Lot of us, I'm sure collect certain things in comics. Such as, Figures, Posters, Comic Books, Key Chains etc...
This is the place to share what you own, or have in your possession. PICTURES would be really cool, if you can post those.

I will continue to update this thread as new Stuff becomes available that I buy.

I'll start first.

Thanks Mick! I have to ask you being a big comic guru like you are. I'm a huge fan of both Martian Manhunter and Skaar son of Hulk. What do you think of these 2 characters? Like in terms of overall design, appeal, and depth. I'd like an in-depth reply from you.

Thanks for re-posting. Great stuff you have!

I've got way too many to recall off the top of my head, but what I can remember:
-Uncanny XMen #300 (my first comic)
-Death of Superman graphic novel
-complete set of Funeral for a Friend (post Superman's death)
-Almost the entire series of Reign of Supermen (some holofoil covers as well)
-Xmen Unlimited 1-3
-Beaking of Batman
-Azriel (batman) killing Bane
-Fatal Attractions Xmen mini series

I also went on a Street Fighter binge during the 20th Anniversary and as such I have the first few complete sets of Sota Toys figures (prior to the change the figures overall design). Along with the San Diego Comic Con exclusive Shin Akuma and both Goken figures. I also have the first 9 holo foil issues from first Street Fighter series run of Udon Comics.

Wow. That's pretty big! I don't even know where I would start...

These days, my first instinct would probably be to veer off into some sort of criticism of the current state of the comics and the precarious state any second tier character is in. At the end of the day, I think it takes ignorance to have any kind of issue with the Martian Manhunter. He's a classic, a staple, a mainstay, a beloved vital organ of the Justice League canon. He's also a little bit weird, a little bit classic, overloaded with super powers, a bit too much like Superman. Now that the corporate comics are tangled up in the worst of the mainstream entertainment industry, it's hard to know where a character like that will be a few years from now.

Always a fan of the character, though. I like being able to take his presence for granted -- he's often a really great supporting character. I didn't get to see all the stuff that went on in Stormwatch, but that struck me as a pretty interesting way to go, if you're not going to keep it classic. I don't know how far they went with it, but playing up his potential for clandestine operations, or espionage is pretty interesting.

My favourite version of the character probably shares equal parts between a superhero and detective. It's tough to call that definitive, but I think it's the version to be beholden to. One of my favourite stories is the one-shot from Secret Origins #35, which plays with that very well. It's a great compliment to The New Frontier, which is probably one of the best Martian Manhunter stories you can take from the last few years (as it is for other characters, too).

I think that side of the character is a real strength. Giving him some of that Gotham grit and a relationship with those characters is fun. I prefer a bit of that gumshoe edge, over the 'emo' vibe things like the cartoons probably dwell more on -- even though that underlying tragedy and/or sorrow is a nice thing to tap into. Both aspects -- the sorrow and the detective -- are, in my opinion, the great differentiating factors from Superman. He's the more alien character, but also gets to play in those more urban human elements, on those rare occasions they go there.

I also think, if DC wanted to be groovy-cool and differentiate themselves from what Marvel have done very successfully, they'd do well to invest in a low budget, low expectation, high concept Martian Manhunter movie. It's the opposite kind of logic they've gone with (in movies and comics), but I think if they invested in the weirdest and most wonderful aspects of the DC Universe, they'd be doing themselves a big favour. If it worked, they'd be trend setters. [I also pitched him a series-long supporting character/villain for a different take on a Superman cartoon Part 1, Part 2, just for more spammy fun]. Definitely hope he'll be in Injustice A) because he's a great character who should be, and B) because video games need to see something a lot of times in cartoons and things before they don't think it's stupid and 'unrelatable' and 'overpowered'.

Something I didn't enjoy was the introduction of Miss Martian.
To me, that was committing the double-sin of a lame kid version of a good character and it diminished the presence/mythology of a lone survivor, a unique character. You've got The Marvel Family for one take on that idea, Superman as his ever-expanding crew of Kryptonians for another (one that just barely skates by without being deplorable). Martian Manhunter should've remained alone.

Which also pretty much gets to the crux of how I feel about Skaar.

It's an interesting enough concept, but a diminishing factor to the Hulk, and not something that particularly grabs me. Especially when there's already a much, much better tangent character running around in She-Hulk.

I think the strength of the Skaar character is in the story that spawned him. To have made it really compelling, I think they would've been much better off keeping it isolated from the Marvel Universe. When you do that, it's tough not to make it seem irrelevant, though. WIth the investments going into Guardians of the Galaxy and all of that, it might work. A space-fantasy Hulk could be interesting, with those occasional glimpses of a connection with the original -- but I think keeping them separate is the best hope to make that character work. Especially with all the idiotic Red crap still floating around (which has a better direct link, at least).

I don't know what the status of Skaar is right now, but I'd speculate he won't exist in the Marvel Universe proper in the next ten years. It wasn't something that grabbed me, so I'm pretty ignorant. If he isn't already dead, he's a Hulk-scale piece of cannon fodder waiting to put somebody else over.

I own all of the Batman essentials. My favorite is Hush due to the appearances of most of Batman's rogue gallery. I also have Spider-Man: Kraven's Last Hunt and Superman Doomsday.

I like a concise story so I only get collections, one offs and graphic novels. I don't have a subscription or anything because it would be a huge pain in the ass to follow.

And I love the Manhunter. I've never read any of his comics (I've read JLA comics with him though), but he's always awesome in the DCU animated shows and movies.

I mainly collect DC, though not exclusively. Have a lot of western silver age comics -- Jonah Hex, Scalphunter, that sort of thing. I also dig on old war comics like G. I. Combat and The Losers.

My favorite character is Turok, I have the entire Valiant series twice over.

I also have the MK Deception mini comic, and maybe one issue of the Blood and Thunder miniseries from the 90's.

Generally, though, my collection is a lot of Action and Detective comics. I like Superman over Batman for some inexplicable reason. And also Aquaman is the shit.

Cheers. I should tidy up! Too busy with MKO to do much with comics!
That's Hawkman #9 on top of the stack I posted last time (with JLA #200 shunted across the surface). If you look close you can see Martian Manhunter's boot making a cameo from the back cover (from the left). Fun times!
