Still hoping these HD versions don't happen.

Six years ago, a little game from Midway came out for the Xbox, PS2 and Gamecube called "Midway Arcade Treasures 2." It featured Mortal Kombat, Mortal Kombat 2 and Mortal Kombat 3. It also had such classics as Rampage, Pit Fighter, NARC, etc.

Though it has a current MSRP of $19.99, I don't think that the original price was over $30 or $40.

Not to sound like a complainer, but what on Earth can WB put in the first three MK games to justify removing the other Midway classics and charging as much or more than a games collection that came out six years ago?

The Gamespot article lists two other price points, one going as high as almost... $80!? Though I'm assuming that $40 will be the final price (unless they decide to include MK4, MKDA, MKD and MKA), I still think that $40 is a huge rip off considering what gamers were given several years ago.

If WB decides to only go with the first 3 games, they better have a ton of extras in them, and I'm not just talking about interviews. I want more characters, more backgrounds etc. I know that won't happen, but seriously, give me SOME type of reason to spend money on this compilation.

I actually still have Midway Arcade Treasures 2, though I forgot that fact when I downloaded MK2 on my PS3. I believe it was five dollars. So tell me again, WHY is this three game compilation going to cost me $40 or even $80?

I really hope that there's more to this story.

It's going to cost just under the price of a standard game because they are remaking all of the original sprites for 3 games and I'm going to assume/hope they fix the AI and the balance issues as well. They're almost entirely going to be making these games from the ground up.

Like I give a damn about price though. I'm more pissed off that they're completely excluding the XBox 360 market for seemingly no damn reason. I definitely want this, but I'm not shelling out a couple hundred bucks for a PS3 just to play one game.

You'd think they would have started an ADVERTISING CAMPAIGN to help their sales and boost anticipation... especially when it's less than TWO MONTHS from the apparent release date.

If it's that top secret, I hope this HD remake is a hell of a lot more than just recapturing sprites and stuffing it into the game. I expect all the glitches fixed, missing content filled, and much, much, more.

I still don't believe in the slightest that this is a real thing. Why is there no advertising campaign? Because it's not a real product. Yes, TRMK 'confirmed' it, but what does that really mean? It's like a Preacher telling you God exists.

Just so some of you know, there are many, many games that have first appeared on game sites like this and have been later confirmed.

Castlevania: Harmony of Despair
Castlevania: Lords of Shadow (If memory serves)
Megaman Universe

these were the first to come to mind. I remember seeing these on smaller game merchant sites months before publishers said a word about them. The fact that GAMESTOP said something only confirms it more for me. There is a very, very good chance this is completely legit.

As for the "No Advertising" argument, who knows. Who cares? I know, so I'm happy. Maybe they decided to push the release back a bit for Christmas. Wouldn't be suprised at all. I only hope that the PS3 only thing is just due to a lack of info on the site's part.

Trust me on this; this IS happening. I have no idea why they're holding off on announcements though.

The whole thing is re-god-damn-diculous. It's basically had every unofficial confirmation you can think of (including the classic coy Ed Boon response), all that's missing is WB Games saying it's being made and some DAMN PICTURES!!!

Updated graphics and online play. I don't care how much it is, the chance to play UMK3 online on my ps3 will be worth it. If you don't wanna buy it, don't.

Yeah, it was $20 for arcade ports. This is $40 for three newly produced remakes of the first three games (and possibly an MK9 demo). I'm totally up for that price. I'd rather it be $30, but I'm not complaining. Now, if it were $60, I'd definitely bitch

How come MK4 constantly gets the shaft? It was an Arcade game also. I mean I know it wasnt as popular as the originals but it was still a good game. Its upsetting that MK1-3 are constantly getting their games on Collectors editions, bonus disks, getting placed on the Xbox and PS3 marketplaces and yet we have never gotten anything from MK4. I mean I know that you can easily play the game on the N64, Dreamcast or PS1 but we have NEVER gotten a true arcade emulation of the game on ANYTHING since its release.

Anyone else think that this could possibly be what the Countdown on themortalkombat.com is for?

I would be VERY happy if this were the case, but something tells me it won't be. After all, the site's main focus is the next main game in the series.
