Mortal Kombat 11 Tops PlayStation April Downloads

It hasn't even been a full month since Mortal Kombat 11 was released into the wild on April 23rd, but that was all the time needed for the time-bending sequel to top the month's PlayStation 4 sales!

Vote for Mortal Kombat Klassics for PlayStation 4 Emulation

Last month, Sony made waves with the announcement of widespread PlayStation 2 emulation coming to the PlayStation 4!

Despite the immense global popularity of the second generation Sony console, players have been unable to bring their games forward to new generations since modifications to the original PS3.

Wired reported several Star Wars games were already available on the PlayStation Store at the time of the news, but a massive library of memorable games remains largely untapped. To aid in the selection process, Sony are monitoring the #ps2ps4 hashtag on Twitter!

PlayStation Software Developer Dave Thach made Sony's observation of the hashtag known earlier this month. For Mortal Kombat fans, this is a prime opportunity to revive a generation of modern klassics: Deadly Alliance, Deception, Armageddon and Shaolin Monks! PlayStation 3 Fight Sticks Compatible with Mortal Kombat X

Mortal Kombat arrives on a new generation of hardware April 14th, built specifically for PlayStation 4 & Xbox One! Don't throw away those old fight sticks just yet, though! The klassics are still in vogue!

As revealed during the Kombat Kast and flaunted by Creative Director Ed Boon on Twitter: PlayStation 3 fight sticks will continue to function with PlayStation 4 version of Mortal Kombat X!

Performance Design Products (PDP) created official fight sticks for the Mortal Kombat: Tournament Edition in 2011, released later individually, and again for Klassic Edition [learn more].

Update: It seems the credit must go to Lab Zero Games, from whom NetherRealm Studios has licensed the necessary drivers. The Lab Zero pedigree is built on original members of the Skullgirls development team. The PS4 backwards compatibility driver was reportedly worked on by John Bellomy.

Mortal Kombat X PS3 & 360 Ports Delayed Until Summer

High Voltage developed Mortal Kombat X ports for PlayStation 3 & Xbox 360 will officially be delayed until the Summer of 2015. A Warner Brothers Interactive Entertainment representative confirmed the Summer delay to VideoGamer.com amidst extensive speculation.

"Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment today confirmed that the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 versions of Mortal Kombat X being developed by High Voltage Software will release this summer," Warner Bros said in a statement provided to VideoGamer.com. "The Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and Windows PC versions will be available April 14."

Gamescom: IGN Ed Boon Interview - Console Exclusives, Story Details

Ed Boon and the team from NetherRealm are in Cologne, Germany to show-off Mortal Kombat X at what is shaping up to be a memorable trade fair! IGN have spoken to Boon about the 2015 fighter in one of the first interviews to come out of 2014's Gamescom and they've uncovered a couple of interesting details!

While no details have come from Gamescom just yet - we've again been teased with the introduction of a new "-Ality" that will be revealed sometime in the near future. That's just the tip of an iceberg that gave us new story and character beats, as well as a bombshell about expected crossovers. Read on:

E3 2014: Ed Boon Demo on PlayStation Live Cast

If Day 1 of E3 left us with questions, Day 2 was all about answers! Sony's Press Conference gave us the first Mortal Kombat X gameplay trailer and introduced three mystery characters [full story]. Those characters were finally given names during Ed Boon's appearance on the PlayStation Live Cast:

With the reveal of the first trailer for the next game - Mortal Kombat was thrust back into the spotlight! Mortal Kombat X became an instant worldwide trend just one week ahead of its debut at E3 [Expo Preview]. The influx of interest was fuelled by a canny teaser campaign in May, but the pre-release interest hasn't been going all one way!

Gamespot report May PlayStation Network sales saw Mortal Kombat (2011) finish #4 in the top PS3 sellers! It did not chart among the Top 20 in April.
